@@NightWolf1982pl I find I like most styles. The only style I really don't like is when its 60% or more talking, 40% or less painting. I find it hard to watch duncan and some others for that reason. Just too much talking into a camera! I do like when they talk WHILE I'm watching them work on something. (Sorry to throw a legend under the bus lol. It just brakes up the flow!) There's a balance i guess
@NightWolf1982pl2 жыл бұрын
@@joshfreeman3264 i agree 100% and that is what i meant. Whole clip with painting and talking what they are doing or why during painting. So only voiceover, not talking heads;)

They are gorgeous minis. Ok, I'm biased because I love Dwarfs so when GW announced the return of squats (despite being hardly rebooted - and I like more this new incarnation!) I was so happy, but I think that these minis are very well designed and so funny to paint!

What's the best way to measure paint when mixing large quantities of paint to make a custom pot? I normally just get a dab of equal paint with my brush and mix it on my pallet but how do I go about doing it in bulk?
@DurginPaintForgeMiniatures Жыл бұрын
In general, at first I try to make the mix color I have in mind on my palette, in small quantity, taking note of the mixing ratio. Once I find the mix that I want, I simply "scale it up" the mix to fill a GW empty pot.

What was the reason for the hard coat and medium half way through painting?
@DurginPaintForgeMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
the 'Ardcoat makes the mini surface smooth, and this helps the wash to flow better in the recesses, reducing the risk to stain the plain surfaces. Once done with the washes, I restore a matt finish on the model with Lahmian medium/Matt medium (because we don't want caramelized armors :D)

Yours is probably the nicest example of it but I really don't like the Ursr's green on green, I am thinking for mine to move the dark green to the armor, Switch out the metal for a more brass look and then do the cloth in a grey or deathwing bone coloring, Not sure yet still playing around with options, I want them to be recognizable as Ursr's at a glance but also want to play more into the grim dwarf warrior thing they got going for them

Great paintjob, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in your choice to follow the GW style of skipping the volumetric shading on the armour in favour of uniform edge highlighting, especially given how easy it would be to apply it with an airbrush.
@DurginPaintForgeMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mateusz! Indeed, I understand that this style might look a bit "old fashioned", nowadays, but I love to paint sci-fi armor this way, it's kinda relaxing and nostalgic for me! Moreover, these guys are meant to be my army, so I'm try to keep as "minimal" as possible at least for the base troops: it's already very time-consuming to paint at this level, so I decided not to invest in extra volumetric lights! I will paint the elite troops and characters with a more "volumetric" approach ;)
@deanmillard98532 жыл бұрын
the detail is nuts. Got dragged over from a reddit post mentioning your votann as inspiration. is there any trick other than a steady hand for the lighting you did inside the helmet?
@DurginPaintForgeMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
thanks for your kind words! I reccomend two things: 1) a good brush, not too small (or the color will dry too fast on the bristles) nor too large. I use a windsor&newton series 7, long bristles (watercolor line), size 1. expensive but it makes the difference 2) a correct dilution. For edges highlights, I use the color not too diluted, about 2 parts color 1 part water. Two-three edge sections per time, then wash and load again the brush. bonus tip: after loading the brush (be generous, not just the tip), remove the excess of painting on a paper towel, making a subtle circling movement by rotating gently the brush: this way, you will set a sharp tip that will make the work easier.
