@@andrewadami3920 it’s called Florida baby! Most poker rooms play like this😂. Max buy in has been $300 in most of the rooms I’ve been to so 150bb. Except for Orange Park BestBet 2/2 $200 cap which is an insane game. I’ve talked to a couple homies about how I feel short stacked until I get to at least $500-$600 playing these games because even without the $5 straddle on, most of the player pool pretty much plays like it’s 1/2/5. So $300 feels like 60bb a lot

I was thinking of a Jam on the turn. Easy to say after the fact and probably not the correct play but it was my inclination while watching the hand. My thinking is with multiple hands sticking around I want people to have to pay to see the river. I will be happy to hear why that would have been the wrong play.
@EllieBanks333 Жыл бұрын
I think it would have been great given better sizing by hero pre & post. 4X pre would be 60 not 40. That might have gotten rid of the 85ss UTG right there. It also sets up a much bigger flop bet. I like to get the $ in early in hands where front door flush draws are going to be high frequency. Because the ones that miss won't put anything in on the river.
@willinnewhaven3285 Жыл бұрын
I would be surprised to see a five on the river, unless it was all of them. Lots of the players don't play sets aggressively where I play because of the high hand jackpots. I made a runner-runner straight against a set of Aces yesterday, so I am _not_ complaining

Guy messed up on every street for the level and the loose players he's playing. Larger 3 bet pre flop. Big bet on the flop. Jam blank turn. Simple. He may still get called when guy has pair and flush draw but put more into the game when people can't fold. And then force them to have to make loose calls with the worse hand.

Before the button tank folded, I figured he had a hand like Q-10 of spades - a royal flush draw. Maybe he was hollywooding with a missed combo draw. Maybe he was genuinely considering calling with a hand like AQ or A9? Button can also have a lot of A-X hands after the flop, but after the turn, I figured that anything short of AK, A9, A5 or AQ would have folded to the turn bet so I figured he was more weighted towards spades, and probably with a combo draw because there were two players behind. I also considered pocket 5s as a possible hand for the button, so I thought that the river being a 5 was good because it cut down on the possible pocket 5s hands for the button (I don't think UTG would just call with pocket 5s closing the action on the flop or turn, but I do think that Button could just call with pocket 5s on the flop and turn because there are two players behind). UTG I figured was heavily weighted towards spades, but I think there are so many missed spade draws that he can have here, because I don't think he needs to have a 5 in his hand to call the turn with a spade draw when he's closing the action on both the flop and turn getting a pretty good price because of the relatively small bets and the other callers. So I don't think that 5-X of spades is a big portion of his range, because there are so many spade draws without a 5 that he should end up here with. But it's still definitely a possibility. I think the hero sized the flop poorly, but I like his turn bet sizing. I think it's fine to have a 60% pot bet left behind. But I'm not sure about betting the river, since missed spades will fold, and I think that both button and big blind would fold any Ace other than AK, A9, A5, or AQ on the turn, and would probably fold AQ on the river. It really feels like you're targeting A9 if you bet the river, and nothing else. You're only losing to A5 of diamonds, quad 5s, or 5-X of spades. But if you're only getting called by A9 (and possibly AQ), is it still right to bet the river?

I would not have. I felt like a spade or a 5 were the rivers hero should not want.

UTG raise with "junk" is a deception play. Your "thinking players" will put you on TT or better. And, if you get 3-bet aggressively...it's an easy Fold. Hero didn't do much wrong here. Villain hits as a 4-to-1 underdog. Variance.

Value betting 3 pairs is often a mistake, even with top 2. No shame in taking a showdown, and/or hoping someone behind you bluffs at a pot nobody seems interested in on the river and drives everyone in front of you out, then you have a good enough bluff catcher. With 4 people seeing a turn card, It's not shocking if one has either bottom pair and a flush draw, or bottom set. At a game with $500 cap, I don't think you can restrict the preflop lead/call range to 88 or better. Plenty of people will do that with any pair, and usually I play in tighter rooms than Bellagio. That's why I can't say I'd jam turn to "take it down before something goes wrong", you might already be drawing slim, and only get called by better. I realize it may sound like I play scared and fail to bet for thin value, but going 3-bet, bet, bet, bet doesn't take the absolute worst death card on the river to make me change that to 3-bet, bet, bet, check. 3 pairs no good. You need to also put on your thinking cap about whether anyone in front of you might be pretty sure you're going to bet, so they resist the temptation to donk lead into you. This was a really good spot to know your own table image as well as theirs. Maybe if he'd been at the table with them for 6 hours he wouldn't have stacked himself.
@supersmoo7377 Жыл бұрын
3 pairs is usually an excellent hand to bluff with because you block full houses - however in this case they aren’t nearly deep enough.

Caller butchered this hand. Too small preflop, too small flop, too small turn. If I'm in this hand it would've been all in on the turn.
@MrTjthorso Жыл бұрын
Why was the preflop play glossed over? The 3bet to $40 is way to small. Its way too inviting for others to call in live play, especially playing 200+ BB deep. The cbet OTF is a major mistake considering this config. There are certainly suited broadways from all players, and BB/UTG can complete with a wide range of spades. To Bart's point, there are also inferior aces. This hand was butchered for sure. Bart is usually on point, but i think he missed some analysis on this breakdown (mainly preflop)

Bellagio has $300 cap 1-3 & $500 cap 2-5. I'm guessing this is the 2-5. I would recommend staying away from this formerly iconic poker room unless you're playing in Bobby's room. They jam the players in this room like sardines, the tables are so close together that it's difficult to walk around the room, you can't even roll your chair back without bumping into someone. The trash cans often overflow and garbage/racks cover the floor under the tables. You can expect to wait 2 hours for a beverage. There's something wrong with the urinals in the closest bathroom (sportsbook) the sensor doesn't work and the urine just sits there. Filthy place, avoid!
