Doing a re-hab on what had been an un-playable 45 dollar orphan guitar last night. Haven't owned or even picked up a guitar in 9 yrs. 4 weeks ago bought one. This re-hab is the second, i got a week ago, intended to be my Nashville-strung one. One of the songs I played on it last night was Wild Horses. So first time going thru it in years. And more sweetly. In standard. Learned open-D years ago. Didn't start playing open-G till 3 wks ago. I''m partial toward standard for Horses, but I'll give it a play in open-G. One variation of the Cmaj (and/or Dmaj) you might consider.... don't use your index finger over all 5 strings .Instead, use your middle finger on 5th string 5th fret, ring on 4th string 5th fret, and pinky on 2nd string 5th fret. Play 3rd and 1st string open. (What is it?... dunno... Cmaj9th?... is there such a critter?...) I like using that on Sheryl Crowe's 'If it makes you happy' if I'm doing that in open-G... see if you don't like it.

I've loved this song since 1971, when I first started playing guitar and 'Sticky Fingers' came out. It's great to see someone so young and hip digging this song with such passion. I guess something this good transcends generations. It carries so many great memories for me. So glad you get it. Beauty is timeless.

So now I have two of my favorite Keith songs to work on. This one and Honky Tonk Women. I have been playing off and on for many years and sometimes get a mental block on certain changes in some songs that I have not worked accurately into my muscle memory. The pace and repetition in your lesson style is just what I need to defeat those mental errors. Thank you for posting these. I should add that your obvious love and appreciation of this music comes through loud and clear and contributes greatly to the lesson overall

Excellent teacher!! Thank you for the way you break it down for beginners. I could never teach guitar, as much as I tried. Coming from an old man that's been playing 40 plus years. You would have made it much easier than learning by ear and then learning what you're doing. Again, Great Teacher and player. Thanks

Fantastic lesson for a fantastic song, thank you so much. Greetings from the UK. There’s a lot of videos for this but what I like about yours is you take the time to go over each section slowly a few times. As a beginner ish player I find that helps me a lot. Great tip about placing your middle finger on top of your pointer finger for the bar chords. Love the Rolling Stones, still mourning the loss of Charlie 😔

Gotta say, your teaching style is on point! I've done a lot of KZbin learning etc. and so far yours is the most accessible, especially for someone trying to play these songs solo. So far I've learned this one and Over the Hills and far Away. I did convertOver the Hills into open G, and made it a bit of a slide tune, but learning the standard version fist through your lesson is what made it possible. Thanks again for the great content!

Brett out of Oklahoma City. playing a Martin triple oh twelve E. I’ve got to say I’ve been playing guitar 35 years and have not advanced much or learned too many new songs lately You make it really easy and clear what you’re doing when you are demoing a song for retention . I was always afraid of open tunings, and I decided to give it a go with you on my very’s first song which was black Crowes she talks to Angels. By the time I got through the end of your video, I had most basic parts down and just had to work on the finger intricacies . Wild horses has always been a favorite acoustic song of mine and now I can break it out any time at the campfire and dazzle onlookers . I’ve learned so many songs with you. I think I’m going to have to become a patron. Such a talented, young lady . So glad I subscribe to your channel Angela.

Really excellent lesson, unrushed, lucid and very informative analysis of the notes to the various chords in this beautiful song. My Brother, who can play anything and everything - in standard tuning, used to play this - in standard tuning. And although he played all the right cords, something seemed not quite right. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. And, as a critique of you teaching, you could teach a 3 year old to play this as well as Keith. I found out about 20 years ago that I was afflicted with Attention Deficit Disorder which explained a lot about my inability to grow my guitar knowledge and skills. I am 62 and started playing when I was 13. Haven't really moved in all that time. I had decided I would learn ONE song."Angie". So, I found your video. Of course, I tried every video tutorial over the years and never could play the song completely. Your method for teaching is what actually worked for me. The repetition drove this song past the ADD gates of hell in my brain and allowed me to learn the song. I am eternally grateful for your methods and will pursue my dream of playing guitar with renewed vigor.

Gday Angela, I'm from Melbourne Australia. Firstly I'd like to say how wonderful your personality and passion is for sharing your music with us. I've been playing for over 40 years as a hobby I love. As for my favourite guitar, I've never really owned an expensive one. I have a black Samick LW-015G acoustic which I rescued from a rubbish bin. It sounds wonderful. I have also rescued a Yamaha G-225 nylon acoustic from another rubbish bin. I'm about to restring it and now I will tune it to D and practice this lesson. Now the kids have moved out, I spent $350 on a new Squire Bullet Stratocaster, made by Fender, in brown sunburst. It's great for playing my Bon Scott AC/DC songs. That's about as good as it's going to get in this lifetime, however I can still get a great sound out of a rubbish bin guitar. I'm also going to practice Angie as well. Thank you, your the best. Cheers from Australia.

Saw you first on Norm's flat top Fridays. Love the sense of joy in your playing. Music is a balm to the soul. Playing the guitar puts you inside the music, inside the song where you get to feel what the songwriter is trying to say. You are an excellent teacher. My new favourite guitar is a 2002 Santa Cruz OM/PW that I acquired this week. I'm learning to play Wild Horses on it...Thanks for this!

Not only well explained, but your appreciation of music is infectious. LOL! and to answer your questions: 1) Ontario, Canada 2) I've managed to catch a few of my dream axes. I have a couple of all Carbon Fiber guitars ; an X20 acoustic & a "Virtuo", hybrid Acoustic/Electric (with factory equipped Fishman Fluence Humbuckers) that I custom ordered from Emerald Guitars in Ireland. Wifey also gave me a gorgeous Custom 24-08 for our 25th Anniversary.

So easy on the eyes and ears. Thank you so much for the riff starting around the 25 minute mark . Stripped is my favorite version and this I believe is Keith's lick around the 30 second mark. Yours is the first/only lesson I found to include this in detail, so thanks. BTW I just pre-ordered a OOO-17 Whiskey sunset burst from sweetwater partially due to you.

I already own my dream guitar. It was custom built for me by Jon D'Trapani and I was with him the day he bought the blocks of wood he used to build it. I've had it for years, and we're still honeymooning. Cheers from Los Angeles!

Great teacher. The open tuning gives it a different sound. I struggled with learning The Black Crowes She Talks to Angels until I realized they played from open tuning. The Stones use it a lot. This is my favorite Stones tune from my favorite Stones album. My dream guitar would be a 60's Gibson Dove acoustic, sunburst. Would really love to hear Angela sing along with her playing. Great video.
