Amazing job!! Thanks for taking the time to record a video fully narrated and going through all the problem solving that comes with a design like this. Took me several days to watch it completely, and now I am glad to notice that you have created several parts more. Unfortunately KZbin does not reward these types of videos with exposure, because people want stuff quick and easy. I have a channel in Spanish and have tried many approaches on time and complexity and usually short works better...but if you want people to learn they need to take the time. Thanks again and great job!!

Thank you NorMaker! Yeah I really want to fill the gap by answering the design questions and workflows. You can't model a car in 10mins :) But if you want to do it you have to put in the time. I have a Ferrari 308 series broken into a bunch of parts and I wanted to try this one as just a single video. All in all will be about 10.5hrs of video all the way to rendering. Thanks for watching!

I recognize your voice from when I took the free fusion 360 course to prep for the autodesk CAD for mechanical design associate certification. Your videos are easily my favorite for learning more about design. Just wanted to let you know these are super encouraging for improving and I’m trying to make a Porsche 918 right now. It’s certainly been difficult but, along with your videos, it has taught me a lot.
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin, yup that was me :) The 918 is a beautiful car! You will likely have some headaches with how the lower sideskirt and rear fender intake area are built on that car. You will probably need to do multiple form bodies rather than just one for that area. Hard to say without trying it but the front fender and most of the door, hood and front end and even the roof would be one form, then the lower side skirt/sill, rear fender, the rear part of the roof etc would be a second form. Without edge weighting control in Forms I would likely split it up.

While watching this and some of your Ferrari 308 videos I noticed you mentioned surfacing would be very helpful but that you were going to try to just use forms. @LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 2 ай бұрын
Yeah its a generally rule for me but basically when we are looking at box display and all the flat faces, each face is controlling the curvature of the smoothed surface under it. If you have two sections that are straight then what ends up happening is the underlying surface may curve up, then down, then back up again. Because the surface under can't ever really be flat. I mean it can if it meets a creased edge and every vertex is on the same plane, but in the context of the complex shape like the "hood" on the 911 it would cause the shape to "wobble" potentially.

@@robertomartinsdasilva9308 So whenever I have had issues with them not showing up there have been 2 reasons. 1. The insertion mode was exact. only the simple mode is fairly flexible with your point placement. The other is the camera view setup. I typically use Perspective with ortho faces for my view. I would try to switch to Orthographic only and see if that works. What can happen with these is the point selection might be going through to something underneath. So a last effort would be to check your selection filters and make sure "select through" is turned off and try again. if that doesn't work please email me the file. support@caducator.com and ill take a look and see if i see anything.

I'm learning F360 to 3d print some models for myself and this guide is fantastic. I'm curious though, is it possible to make surface features separately, then combine with the main body? Like if I wanted to make the core 911 form, then make the body kit each as separate pieces that I could then import and attach to the main body? Is this something that is easily done?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 11 ай бұрын
100% In forms you can have multiple bodies at the same time, you can even copy faces or entire bodies. Remember though that the geometry of a form is created not by a single face but also the geometry of the surrounding faces. So you could select most of a fender, copy those faces and then offset them. Thicken either the form, or the surface after you exit the form and have something that fits on it.
@PLxFTW

Thank you for this fantastic video. I had already tried a drawing by Porsche GTR3 2019 following the Endo G method but after I started well I found difficulty in the exclusion of details. Now by trying with your alternative methods I got the idea of trying the intersection curves command in sketch and the match command in Edit Form to create the first surface with the spline on the YZ plane and the spline on the XY plane. So I ask you if it can be a passable solution or are there contraindications? As you will have I know little English and I apologize for a summary translation. I follow your videos with a reduced translator and speedage to understand the steps. Despite the difficulties of language continues to follow your videos because I find them very complete and detailed. Thank you
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mario! I think the intersection curve option will work just fine. Just remember that MATCH uses the edge of a form surface not a vertex, and if you end up using the tolerance option to better match your curve it will add a lot of Tpoints which can cause issues downstream. Also remember that this is for the smooth display not box. One thing you have to keep in mind is that it will never be a perfect solution. That is why i generally use visual references over perfect curves for the forms workflow, but if you have good references/blueprints and really want to nail the bodylines then I would say this method should work just fine. If you want me to have a look at the model feel free to email me. support@caducator.com

When you forms model in Fusion you can convert that to a NURBS surface. In blender the output( as far as i know) is only a mesh. but you could model something in blender and if its a quad mesh bring it into Fusion forms and use it directly.

Hey. What would you say is the better software for modelling cars? I want to model my ineos grenadier dor 3d printing and all current files out there are apparently no good for printing
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 6 ай бұрын
I would say the software you are most comfortable with. Fusion Forms is a great way to model but can be very tricky. If your goal is 3d printing you could also stay in a mesh program like Blender. There are loads of car tutorials out there using blender. The main thing you would need to do is make sure your model is "water tight". Then the print slicer can make it hollow with sparse infill. Where Fusion is a bit better is if you need actual manufacturing like say CNC machine a mold/form. The output from Fusion would be a NURBS surface, while the output from something like blender is going to be a mesh.

He has car modeling videos but they aren't really narrated. Just move onto the next chapter "a different approach than the G endo method". With the insert point its kind of a trick. @LearnEverythingAboutDesign

All you really need to 3d print something is to make sure it is a closed solid, or thinwall solid. In this case it would be best to make sure its "water tight" filling any openings. You can manually do that with surfaces or you could convert the surfaces to mesh and try to have fusion close/repair it to make it solid. I would suggest the surface approach.

I've never made it through any of your videos end-to-end. There is just so much rambling explanation--like watching a 30 min explanation, only to hear: don't do it this way. So now I've frustratingly listened to 30 minutes of rambling, disorganized nonsense only for the narrator to realize he was heading down the wrong path.
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you feel that way. I talk through the process and try to explain the thought process as I am going vs just saying to click here and do this. It is all done while recording without script and that is my method. If my style doesn't suit your learning method I would suggest finding another channel that does since all my videos are in this style. I don't think I have any tutorials on my channel that are without explanation and overwhelmingly people appreciate that approach, but it isn't for everyone. And to the point of rambling for 30 mins only to say it was the wrong path. After the blueprints I mention G-Endo, who was a car designer for Nissan, and his method. He has a great method and his videos aren't narrated so I wanted to shed some light on how he did it in case people want to learn that method. It has come up in emails and comments people asking me to explain it. I didn't want to copy his method as he has his own videos. And instead of blueprints he uses images of his pre-modeled car in box display so its a different approach where you are sort of tracing and laying out exactly what he has already done. While his approach to the forms is wonderful, I think laying it out over a box display doesn't help learn how to model the car. If his style is more applicable I did link his channel in the description and you can check it out. Everything was explained in that manner and not "oops this was wrong lets do it a different way". At 38s in the intro to the video I say we are going to talk about G endos method and ultimately do something different.
