Either you are natural on TV or not. Montana didn’t work as an analyst after he retired as he was too dry. I actually think Brady would be better on the pregame/postgame show as he’s good at breaking down stuff, but needs to time to make his point. An in-game analyst is about making quick points/reactions after each play. Brady would be better in studio where he can make his point without rushing it.
@layziebdub
@layziebdub 7 күн бұрын
This is a really great point. Someone like Peyton has natural charisma while Brady really does come off as stiff and dry. I love your point that he might be better on a post game show but even then he still needs some energy and charisma. I think many former athletes learn the hard way how difficult it is to be entertaining on tv or even on a podcast (wayyy too many athlete podcasts that are boring/dry as hell).
@patriotsfan122480

Even in a studio setting I think the team around him would be important, but overall agree with you. I do think he got better from the first quarter to the fourth, and overall was ok. I also don’t think he had any chemistry with Kevin Burkhardt and that is important as well, and that’s neither of their faults. Some people work well together immediately, some don’t.

As someone else wrote so eloquently yesterday, I don’t understand how anyone expected him to be a great commentator if they’d even seen 1 minute of 1 of his press conferences over the last 20 years. I don’t doubt he has the knowledge, but some former players are really good at these jobs and you know it instantly when they’re in front of the mic, and you also know the opposite just as quickly. As for the money, Fox offered it knowing all that. If they offered me the same, I’d have taken it to. Pretty sure most of us football fans had a feeling this was going to be the outcome. I do hope he can get better if it’s something he really wants to do, but I’m going keep to putting the games on mute.
