Made it! :) half recipe because I used 6x3 baking pan. I think its very essential to let it cool after baking -for an hour then put it in the fridge for an hour also. To make sure the flan is hard. I’m sooo happy! Thank you for this 🥰🥰🥰

I think you should bake/steam first the leche flan for about 10mins just to harden the flan then after that you can put the batter mixture then bake it again. Thats what I always do when Im baking puto flan ☺️

The puerto ricans here in USA call this flan cocho, you can make this with any flavor of cake batter, vanilla cake, chocolate cake, banana cake and etc. Its like a magic cake, though the flan recipe calls for 5 whole eggs, 1 condensed milk, 1 evap, 1 tsp vanilla, mix in blender and strain before putting in the caramelized flan.

This is actually a brilliant idea because in some local bakeries here in our place they do leche flan cake but then the leche flan's sweetness overshadows the flavor of the cake. So making it leche flan banana cake will make the cake have a unique flavor to it rather than just a plain cake making it more balanced and delicious.

You can substitute sour cream with plain yoghurt or buttermilk :)

you can make your own sour cream with just regular ap cream and vinegar/lemon juice and letting it sit for 30 mins to an hour, but yoghurt and buttermilk work too 😊

I think you could probably steam it, if you haven't tried already. Just make sure you have a deep pot wide enough for the cake pan to fit inside and something for the cake pan to sit on/inside of so it is not directly on the heat

Everyone needs to try this if u havent. Basically any cake can be topped with flan. We have something similar in Guam called Latiya. Try this in a regular llanera it might cook easier because its smaller..
