You guys really hit it out of the park with this kit. I installed mine this morning on my 2.0 ST with extended 14Ah internal battery plus the Hailong 10Ah external. Now I have 24Ah total. The install was easy and took about an hour. The hardest part was figuring out how to cram the dual discharge adapter into the frame to clear the controller. You may want to show that step in more detail in this video because that’s the hardest part. Otherwise you have a winner! I think your idea of selling these in volume is great. This setup is great for those intimidated by the idea of a dual battery. This setup will also give the XPremium a run for it’s money and also satisfy those that don’t like the XPremium mid-drive idea. Now I’m completely removing the XPremium from my want list because I believe this setup is better. Also I added cable actuated hydraulic brakes so for $1,400. total cost you end up with a better bike in my opinion!

Well I am finally done with the install of the balancer kit and the recommended Hailong Battery, both are excellent products and highly recommend them. I decided to go with the external install for a couple of reasons. 1. I did not want to go through the hassle of cramming the wiring housing so I opted to use space in my Rockbros Bag. 2. I also wanted to add an ON/OFF switch so I would have the option of using both batteries or just one at a time. 3. I wanted to be able to disconnect the battery so as to charge it off the bike with a simple disconnect and all other wiring remains in the Rockbros bag. 4. The wiring was the issue and I did not want any wires exposed, so all the wiring is encased in a loom and run down the luggage rack rails held with zip ties and hidden from view. Very happy with the results. Thanks to ElectricAllWheel for their videos and recommendations.

Hi Maria. We can do it but it will take some time. Also, We will only attempt this on a XP 2.0. May we suggest simply keeping the long range as your primary, selling the original and getting a battery that is built for the exterior of your frame? We know it sounds like a pain, but the integrated frame batteries were really built to be used specifically inside the frame. They have void stickers, and the need to be retrofit for charging even after you pull it out. You will save yourself quite the headache, selling one or simply buying a third. If you have the dual battery kit installed and run down two batteries, you could pull out your second Lectric battery and just swap it for your long range and it will discharge like the original bike from the factory, even if the exterior battery has been depleted.

...a balanced discharge matching the demands of the controller (power needs). Each battery will be "drawn down" uniformly to the low voltage cutoff of the controller (no bars). Think of Amp Hours (Ah) like a gas tank size. The more Ah, the bigger the tank and longer the trip. With this setup, you can have two 48V batteries. One will be the factory 10Ah (avg.) and the other will be an Ah value of your choosing. Consider your mounting points, budget, need, etc. to determine what size you might want. Double is an easy concept and that is why we recommended the battery. It's economical and easy to attach, and adds 10Ah to the factory 10Ah.

Thanks for reaching out. I wouldn’t recommend this as a normal practice. We have seen something similar to what you are saying in one of the FB groups linked below. If it was an absolute must, I would open the externally used battery and check the innards for a blue wrapped battery that has an XT60 connector. It is crucial though that the charge cable be held intact which makes this a bit difficult. You will need to make contact to your battery poles labeled over the top. I would target the DCH-006 430 battery case type name and search for a contact plate that works. There will likely need to be certain modifications to secure the connection. These batteries were designed for use inside the frame. Our overall suggestion would be to sell the one least desired and move towards a battery that can be more easily secured outside the frame. In your case you would want to keep the bigger battery. We hope this helps, and are sorry for not having a better solution for you at this time. facebook.com/groups/lectric/permalink/1175723686313760/

@@ElectricAllWheel I feel like this could be solved by a version of the discharge kit that only works when the primary battery is active, which has the downside of potentially wasting charge on the aux battery. If we could find one that allowed you to lock it and turn it on without keeping the key in that'd be perfect, save for that a retractable keyring might be the answer... The kit will work with Lectric 1.0. If your battery doesn’t have a XT60 connector you will need that. As long as your battery is rated at 48V to match the original factory battery it will work.

@@ElectricAllWheel Not sure I quite understand this,are you saying the balancer will not fit inside the housing of the Lite or will it all go inside the housing with no problems?
@ElectricAllWheel2 жыл бұрын
We have not put the kit on a Lite. We understand the controller connectors and know that the kit will work plugged into the controller. It is anticipated that the balancer will fit in the body like the white step thru in the video, balancer flat on bottom underneath sideways controller. In a situation where it doesn’t fit or the owner has added LEDs or other connections, the extension cables can be switched to the balancer out, and 1 battery “in.” This will allow you to run the balancer to your battery bag outside of your frame.

@ElectricAllWheel2 жыл бұрын
We suggest unplugging the second battery and verifying that the factory battery is charged and runs the bike. Then fold the bike in half and turn the bike on from the second battery only. Be careful to lift the wheel in the event the throttle is touched. If there is reaction from both separate instances, check your charging for each individual battery. Continued issues will require you to check your wiring to or from 1 of the batteries. Also, make sure the key is on for your factory battery

It is unclear what this comment is insinuating (though we have a good idea why this comment was made). It is well known that utilizing these balancers is a common practice and one of the safest methods to run a parallel connection. It would appear you’re advocating for a balancer with a higher efficiency, and fortunately we sell that too with the DateX2 Dx2

I just completed this diy kit! It was a real pain in the butt to get the wires and controllers to fit, but finally got it. Both batteries work individually, so I assume it is a success. Should my voltage read differently once they’re both hooked up together? Looks to be same 54V charge still. I am guessing I will only really know once I do a mileage test? P.S. I completed your freewheel change last summer and appreciate those videos too. That was also painless. My only problem related to that is that my shifter sometimes jumps between 6 & 7. Need to tweak my derailleur I believe.
