Its not the moment on the stage when your talking that is nervous or anything but the moment while you are waiting and knowing that you are the next person to go up.

Well. I have to take this class. It is not easy, but it is a battle that you have to fight and you will definitely have to win. Just do not think what the other people might consider about you. If you care what the other people think about you, your fear will grow over time especially in front of the other people. Also, it is a good idea to practice in front of mirror before you plan to speak.

Update - My first speech was yesterday and it went great! I did wonderful! I give all my thanks to Jesus Christ, He heard my prayers every hour lol! Alright not in all honesty for those of you reading this wondering how I did so well. All I can say is practice! Write down EVERYTHING that your going to say and read it over like a book. Then get up and practice reciting it until you get it down decent. Then get someone in your family or a friend to sit down and act as an audience member and recite your lines before them. The day of your speech read over your lines and be aggressive! I remember the hour before my speech i was in the bathroom thinking to myself "I better go first, there is no way that anyone is speaking before me after all the practice I put into this thing!" And sure enough I went first in the class and I hammered my speech! I was pumped to go up and as soon as I started speaking all the nerves went away. Another thing I have to say is that if you think the audience is going to judge you, don't! Those are lies that the enemy uses to scare you. Ignore it and focus on yourself when your preparing. When I got up there and looked at the class, everyone was smiling at me enjoying the speech. All went well and if you put in the effort it will go well for you. Don't prepare last second, give yourself some time to prepare. In my case I prepared two days before the speech. DO NOT do that!! Lol. I procrasinate like crazy. But anyway good luck and pray always!

Ahhhh man, everyone should master their communication skills. Be a leader not the kid sitting at the back of class. There will come a moment when you will regret that u haven't lived the way u want, and the anxiety would seem as a joke to you, but for dony fear and go above a beyond.

Update - Its been a year since I posted this comment. I passed the class with a C-. I am no longer in any speech classes but I will say mastering your communication skills is very important. For those of you who are in speech class or plan on doing so (where I live its a required class to take) good luck and prepare yourself. Getting up in front of people is scary but it can be mastered. And as far as the butt sweats go, its gonna happen lol

Really needed this video not caring what other people may say or pick apart about you is key to surviving and overcoming anxiety, social anxiety, etc. I always think about what someone else might say or i'm so sure that their definitely making fun of me or talking shit, but the only one whose doing so is me. Overthinking leads to over analyzing which leads to social fear and awkwardness. Confidence is key its a process because having anxiety with the attention on you is very very terrifying ,but if you care about you and not what others think or may feel ,or say about you then you'll be surprised to see that a huge huge weight will be lifted off your shoulders and you'll see improvement in other major areas in your life you never thought was possible before.

I really wish I’d taken a class like this at college/university. I used to skip university seminars where I had to present. When you get into work though there’s nowhere to hide. Many jobs require you to present to a wide audience. Over the years I have managed to conquer my fear of public speaking and I am now much more confident. You can do it guys, your whole audience wants you to succeed!

I have gone to great lengths to avoid public speaking. I was one of the students this professor speaks about that would drop a class, come back later, and drop again in efforts to avoid presentations, in college. I even chose my major (accounting) because I figured it was my safest route to a good-paying, professional career with the possibility of completely avoiding having to speak in front of others. Well, I really wish I would’ve mustered the courage to challenge my fears when I was younger. I feel like I have to take a class in public speaking, now. I quit my accounting job a few years ago and live with my Mom again, at 34. I’m at my personal rock bottom and I need a “win” for my confidence and self-esteem more than ever before. I think I HAVE to sign up and complete a speaking class, like now, to open new doors (even if just in my mind) for a better future… Thank you for reading my book. 😅😂

someone gave great advice about how you need to stop thinking about what others think about you and keep practicing your speeches in front of the mirror (easier said than done, i know). if you make a mistake, it’s OKAY. it happens to everyone, even professors. if you want to become very nervous again, think about how a lot of the other students in your class are most definitely also experiencing the same feelings. just take a deep breath, prepare ahead and practice!! you’ll do great, you just have to master up enough confidence and in no time, the class semester will be over and you’ll see you’ve passed!

10 years ago, in high school, I remember doing presentations and absolutely dreading the thought. Horrified, shaking and sweating in front, stuttering. 10 years later, today, I've found that now being 27 and absolutely not giving a shit anymore has given me the confidence and fearlessness to actually be excited to take speech. Especially as it being my first class returning to college. Its scary in the moment, but there's billions of us out here. Who gives a shit what some few tired college students think? Impress your teacher and tell the rest to eat it.

They don't teach them how to manage money, how to open their own business, how to become an entrepreneur. I need to learn communication skills to deal with my clients in my own business. I am not in the business of making someone else reach. Thank you

The only reason you feel anxious and suffer is because you believe there is a “you” in your head who suffers, when in actuality, in reality, “you” are just the environment doing what it’s always been doing ever since maybe even before the Big Bang, the more you go “me this me that and I have this anxiety and this disability or I believe this or I don’t agree with that I hate this I love that...” understand that that is all egotism and delusion. Do you realize that you’re being judgmental, that to say this is good or that is bad is to already set you up for failure, you love this particular thing but you can only do so with hating its opposite, You can’t ever have peace of mind so long as you think that way, rather rise above the whole game of your ignorance here and choose that path that does not judge, the path that openly loves all things good and evil unconditionally and admit that there isn’t a you inside your head because what you’re calling you is actually something else producing an illusion of what you call you, or you can choose to ignore the truth and that’s okay just remember that when you suffer it’s what you wanted so don’t complain and cause problems for others..... realize that your thoughts and feelings are physically part of reality, the brain fires specific patterns of electricity each time an emotion or thought comes up, also you realize you do not control all thoughts and emotions because they are always spontaneously popping in and out of your head if you watch yourself closely, thoughts and emotions are physically existent and random features of the universe at their most basic level, what does this mean? Paradoxically it means you have no free will, do you choose to grow your hair? Do you choose the next thought that comes up out of nowehere? Do you choose all your dreams? Do you choose when you die? Even if you do choose, it wasn’t you choosing, it was rather whatever was making you have random thoughts and grow your hair since the beginning of your life that was effecting all “your decisions” so we see that we can make choices only out of pure unpredictability that is somehow contradicting because that randomness is determined to be random... you can’t have nothing without something, you can’t be happy without ever feeling sad, you can’t make a choice without having no choice, all form came from the formless, to live one must die, to love one must let go, keep this in mind, you are the universe or god just trying to know itself through being or existence of all forms including the specific “you” God wants to know itself (you and all things) by living through them, suffering and enjoying life, Get really close with that, and then you can love and let go in good faith
