Sorry, I rarely cook a ham bone for a family dinner separately as my wife and offspring when they were kids don’t do ham. How ‘bout using smoked Turkey legs or smoked ham hocks or ham shank which are readily available ; just enough to provide the 4-5 cups of meat? Do you threw in potatoes?
