If you want to use graphite, use the kind locksmiths use, graphite in a liquid suspension. It dries leaving a good coating of graphite.

Good shoutout on the 5mm bearings. I tried both, and found the 5mm worked best. They just feel smoother and provided the action I was looking for!

Boy oh boy that was stressful, I was so worried that that spring was going to launch into the atmosphere. I have the same kinda luck, always finding the oddest way to f$&@ my sh@$ up or just lose it all together. It’s why I don’t have nice things. 🥺 Thanks for the video, love the fact that you don’t edit out the tough stuff!
@johnpawly18492 жыл бұрын
They make a spray dry graphite. Probably expensive but it dries onto the part so you still have some on it when you get it back together. I just love those Malibu’s

Thank you. This video was a big help. Do you know if the pivot can be separated from the scales? I wanted to switch the hardware and blades on two of my Malibu’s but couldn’t figure out how to get the pivot out? All the disassembly videos don’t really mention trying to remove it. Thanks for another great vid.

Yea they really get them in there tight. U could probably remove it just have to really pop it out

Say good bye to those naps. The 2 hours will go to an hour then they don't nap. Maybe once and awhile will they nap after they get close to 2

I'm only at the point where the second bearing is still laying on the mat so I'm waiting until you notice it:) Didn't take long:) I think it's the cork, it's like camouflage for those bearings.

You can work the Ox-Guard into the button with a toothpick without taking the Malibu apart...

I’m like 99% sure you said “I may just loctite it” when you unboxed this 🤣🤣 I can’t help but do the same with any new knife I get too though.

Thanks for the bearing spec. I am going to put an order together for 13:15 Sunday. Are the Skiffs symmetrical so I don’t have to worry which way faces in/out? Does this matter for any bearings?
@LeftyEDC2 жыл бұрын
Skiffs you can put in anyway. Thats one reason they are so good.

Hey Lefty, Does the handle feel like its textured aluminum or does it have that matte finish that pro-tech uses? thanks Just ordered the blue Wharncliffe model.

The "red" loctite you speak of is most likely not that. If they used real red loctite you would need heat to break the bond. The red sealer you are seeing is most likely Vibra-TITE VC3.

Beware, the liquid graphite will stain anything it comes in contact with, your hands your clothes, the rug, etc.

Why do you prefer 5mm vs 3/16?
@LeftyEDC Жыл бұрын
On the malibu i just noticed its not as tight a fit around the pivot barrel. Seems to give free-er action. The 3/16 will break in eventually though. Not much of a difference honestly. Talking small changed

That nick in the finish is why I went with the black textured. Easier to touch up with a sharpie or paint pen vs the blue :)
