I'd like to add to Rob's statement about there being two people who've played Alfred in this movie. While he's right that Clive Revill voiced Alfred in Batman: The Animated Series, he only voiced him for the first four episodes. From the fifth episode onward Alfred was voiced by Efrem Zimbalist Jr.

The film 'Slap Shot' started off as a sequel to this movie. It was called 'H E Double Hockey Sticks House' with the Hanson brothers as the ghosts.

For any fellow comic book geeks, the four-issue story arc in Marvel's "Werewolf By Night #34-37" (1975) borrowed HEAVILY from this book/film. Those comics scared the hell out of me when I read them at the tender age of 8, and I was so disappointed when my adult self found out that the story I had considered a classic was, shall we say, "less than original"!

I never saw this movie, but Marvel had an unofficial remake of it in two issues Werewolf by Night, which scared the hell out of me as a kid. Or the first part did. I never read part two, but read later issues and somehow thought they were still trapped in the evil house for months.

Wouldn't it make a TINY bit more sense if instead of Michael Gough playing Belasco at the end, it was an actual little person like Kenny Baker or Billy Barty? The ending is still dumb but at least the audience would go "Oh OK I guess.".

The movie poster is better than the movie. The whole time I was wanting to say "The Haunting" still stands, cuz its basically the same thing. British recipe is too dull, slow, dry. Roddy needs to be free in the wild lands of planet of apes and Rome not caged in a haunted house.
