I felt really sorry for David this season. He has been a puppet for Farruck his entire life. He was forced to do unspeakable things as his puppet, even killing his foster parents. He came to a point of despair he felt his only way out was death. He spent five years drooling in a mental hospital with doctors unable to understand or help him properly. And then he found Syd and Summerland. And these people became his family and gave him purpose to live. Most importantly they gave him absolution, a chance to forgive himself for the sins that weren't really his own. But when the Shadow King attacked he really had no chance. And now everyone betrayed him. They locked him up like an animal, judged him for crimes of the future he didn't commit yet and crimes of the past committed by his enemy. And Syd shot to kill him. He didn't hurt any of them even after that. While Farruck turned soldiers into dust like they were nothing. Wiping out Syd's memories and having sex with her was bad, but it was more like an act of desperation, his final taste of a love that was never meant to be. Now the Shadow King practically leads Division 3 and they're going to hunt him like an animal, pushing him further and further to the dark side, completing a self fulfilling prophecy of a man too powerful to be allowed to exist. I think this show has captured the true meaning of X Men better than everything else on tv and cinema and I hope we get much more of it!

His time abilities will come forward and he will probably undo anything he wants but syd shooting at david was an inevitability because she is a control freak. Memory wipe is not drugging, it's way worse because she wasn't raped she was tricked into making love meaning she can't even trust herself let alone another human being.
@Michael59197
@Michael59197 6 жыл бұрын
Syd's power made her unable to trust others. Nobody can touch her skin and the same goes for her heart. She could only let someone in if that person was perfect. And David is far from perfect. He was right about her having abandonement issues. The way she said "you abandoned me" before she shot him. Her future self made certain their relatioship was over. There is a silver lining though. In future Syd's timeline the Shadow King died. But in this one he lives. I know that looks ominous as hell but what if it is a blessing in disguise? I don't know what made alt future Legion destroy the world. But Farouk's presence and actions, his need to save the world from him, even his former friends who betrayed him, might be the catalyst that will turn David back to the light side. On second thought I'm starting to feel more optimistic.

I don’t think Farouk was physically there in the trial scene. 1) no one directly acknowledged his physical presence. 2)and he had none of the physical damage he took from Legion damn near killing his physical body.

Erick González Bravo not necessarily.. Clark looks in that direction, but Cary and Syd are also in the direction. They do one reeeeaaallly quick shot of Clark and you don't see Farouk, no shadow on the chair, nothing. He was a projection. Possibly. Again, we could all be fooled by the Noah.

This is an interesting idea. I think it was actually Farouk. I think the mouse whispering was to get Sid to save him/restore her memories, and the only reason he didn't heal in his cell was because his powers were suppressed. I think he is strong enough to be able to heal himself if nothing is holding him back.

I just got finished watching this. I loved the subtle way how David's face changes b4 he has his "IDGAF" moment inside that blue force field. One moment his eyebrows are raised and his eyes are wide. He hears whispers in his head. He is saying "I deserve love." Looking around the room at his "friends" feeling betrayed. Then the whispers in his head...stops, his eyebrows lower and basically says "alright enough of this". You can see one personality leave and another take over in a span of just seconds. Great acting.

I watched the whole thing with subtitles (cuz I'm cooky) and I didn't understand the different names for David I thought it was a typo. But I later realized it was his different personalities. Farouk is sooo evil, such a mind fuck! Turned Sid against him. Never thought that maybe he is that powerful he could have been influencing Sid all along. Crazy.

Trisha Collymore look up the "moral panic" scene and rewatch it. Seems like very strong foreshadowing of what farouk was going to do to David. He got everyone scared about him turning, that they hugely overeacted and ended up being the reason David snaps.

It seems to be pointing towards David being in the right also in the courtroom everyone is wearing black except David he's wearing all white which is usually the color of innocence also black is the color of the gross delusions we've seen. Not saying what he did to Syd was ok I completely think he's in the wrong there just don't think it's as simple as David is the villian now.

White is a tricky color in media. Even biblically the horseman of death wears all white. White can symbolize purity as often as it can symbolize false goodness. I agree Sydney definitely went about confronting David the wrong way, but he's had voices talking to him this whole season. He's been both gifted with powers and mentally ill for quite a while. At first he believed he was just ill, then he believed it was just his powers. Now I'm hoping he will fight to regain control in season 3 and work on becoming stable. Sadly she should have just insisted Farouk be captured and talked to David in another, more gentle way and approach; but people get very scared when they find someone they know has a serious mental illness and if that person could also read/alter minds I can kinda see why she freaked out and used the time given by the power dampener to try to confront him... not a great idea, but I can sadly see it feeling like it was all she had.

Tehn basically. The only world that was destroyed or shattered was David's. The people he thought he could hold dear, the people he trusted, all turning on him for something he "might do". It's funny how their perspective of him changed when he was no longer of use to them. Remember why they broke him out of wherever he was to begin with. They weren't looking out for him, Melanie admitted that she did it for her own benefit from the jump. Mutant, human, that didn't change much at the end of the day.. you're a friend as long as you're useful

Ralf Demosthenes so true! We should have known. David deserves better he is been in terrible situations all his life. I mean they literally released a murderer who kidnapped him as a baby and possessed his body and used it to do horrible things. Like even if David is a garbage person in the future (which I don't think that he is. At least not enough to destroy the entire fucking world according to Melanie and Oliver) that's no reason to release this monster. They should still have gotten rid or at least still caged up the Shadow King.
@thehumanity0
@thehumanity0 6 жыл бұрын
+Tehn - Yeah it was already a huge 'fuck you' to David being tricked into a trap that they were going to use to execute him if he didn't fully cooperate, but then they let the Shadow King just waltz in like he owns the place now and basically rub David's nose in it. He's literally the guy who murdered David's sister in a disturbing and gruesome way and then has the audacity to judge him by saying "revenge has consumed you" and everyone is just totally cool with it. Not to mention these "future crimes" are all solely based upon hear-say from the Shadow King, a person who has killed countless people in Division 3, one of the Summerland mutants (Rudy) in Season 1 and an extremely malevolent and powerful mutant I thought they were hunting for a whole year. They're just going to trust THAT GUY now? After that shit, I'm totally team David and Lenny now. I don't give a shit that they're evil and crazy. David was completely mistreated by his friends and girlfriend especially if you think he's "insane" and is talking to voices that are making him do things. I didn't like how he handled the erasing the memory thing at all, but I didn't think it warranted Syd to shoot him or execute him in a bubble. It seemed to me he was just desperate to keep their love from dying. It doesn't seem like something "a monster" would do.

You guys do realize the Shadow King has mind control powers, don't you? Syd wasn't the only one swayed by him. I'm pretty sure all of Division 3 and the Summerland mutants were controlled by him through that mouse. The Shadow King is a master manipulator, you don't know who's under his control and doing his bidding. You even see him turn into Syd on the Astral Realm to escape David's attack during the psychic duel. Although, I am really glad that Farouk wasn't killed. He's just so damn charming and likable even when he's doing completely evil things. He really is a worthy adversary to Professor X and I would love it if they managed to get Patrick Stewart to do some scenes with him.

+Alexandre Martins - Yeah but you could also make the case that Shadow King equally manipulated her with delusion and such. It's a very blurred line on what exactly happened, especially what exactly was going on in Syd's head, but I think David was just desperate to save his relationship and it didn't help he had his other personalities whispering in his ear about the whole mess. Syd definitely betrayed him first though by trying to murder him.

What Syd did was actually even worse. David just erased 2 hours or so away from Syds memory which indirectly led to what normally would've been unconsentual sex, but there's ground for arguments here. Eitherway that whole situation is far more of a gray area than what Syd did. She technically raped not one but TWO people (her mothers body and her mothers ex-boyfriend) and also destroyed the life of the boyfriend. And then she lectures David he's not a good person, when she literally aimed for a killshot on David earlier in that episode. She's a goddamn hypocrite

@ikeekieeki

what? no. she did something wrong, and showed David so he would know that side of her. but she was still a child, and her actions would need to be mitigated by the circumstances. a 15 year old boy with confusing powers who swapped bodies with his dad to bang his dad's girlfriend would also have done something wrong, and he would also need to have the consequences fit both the action and his mental development at the time. the show does not praise Syd for what she did. most Xmen related stories show teenage mutants making bad choices, sometimes hurting people, but the general message is that these difficult situations are inevitable when the young mutant has no guidance. it is also part of the dynamic between Syd and David that she learned the hard way what happens if you try to use your powers to trick people, but he is still mentally an adolescent because his development is far behind hers. additionally, it was a traumatic event for her, to realize what she had done. when she described the shower scene in season 1, it was clear the episode had horrified her. it seems like you may have misinterpreted it, much like David did, so rewatching it in a loop maybe will help

Syd was definitely manipulated. But not just by the Shadow King. David said himself that he suppressed her memories. And instead of talking to her about the manipulation and trying to win her trust back, he lied. Honestly, the predatory way their sex scene was shot and acted turned my stomach. Syd was unsure, confused, knew something was wrong but couldn't pinpoint it. He tried to force her to love him and might have destroyed any chance their relationship had left. I loved them together and mourn for their love, but I don't believe they can get past this.

If he hadn't wiped her memory, she would just stand up again and shoot him, she wasnt ready to listen to anything he had to say, did you even see how long he tried to talk to her. By wiping her memory of the past 2 hrs, he bought himself some time to convince her otherwise, the physical part sometimes helps people remember their connection to others.

In the comics, "destroying the world" means ushering in the Age of Apocalypse. Of course, if they ignore the movie, they can do that in the series, which would be cool. And of course the movie is rather mistitled, as, like with Ultron, The Week of Apocalypse would be more a appropriate title.

I am really annoyed with the writing of Syd's character this season. 1: She totally changes her stance from "love is what we have to save" to "God loves sinners, we have to do what is necessary" to love again, WTF?! 2. She totally appears to have lost her intelligence when she buys so easily into Melanie/Farouk's OBVIOUS manipulation. 3: What was she thinking when she tried to shoot David?! She already knows he can stop bullets. 4. What David did to her was definitely sexual assault and totally wrong, and somehow that is absolutely irredeemable when we know SHE RAPED HER STEP FATHER, sent him to jail and totally betrayed her mother. And now SHE's the HERO?! In any case she's to blame for David braking bad. She totally turns on him, tries to kill him without any regards to his point of view and she knows how fragile he is. Last but not least, DID IT OCCUR TO ANYONE in the team that EVERYTHING could be a manipulation from the Shadow King?!?!? God, I'm so mad because I LOVE the show.

David couldn't stop the bullet because of Lenny shooting that weird metal thing that disabled all mutants powers nearby. Anyway yes, Syd is a dumb hypocrite. What she did was even worse than what David did, she raped technically TWO people (her mothers body, her mothers ex-boyfriend) and then ruined the life of the ex-bf too. Good job Sydney. Then she goes for the killshot on David and later in that episode she lectures him about how he's not a good person? Even though yeah, david fucked up, sydney honestly has no right to talk about how he's a bad person after all the shit she caused herself

You reap what you sow. That's exactly what happened to Syd. She was the one that finally betrayed David in the end (2 times btw). She didn't fight & protect love. Meanwhile love is still the main drive for david to beat Farouk & save future. David might be extreme at some point (with the torture) & the love drug is only to remind her love again (not condoning it but David was trying to fix the relationship). Also, I think it's a different "David" that had "mental sex" with her. How about freaking Fukyama creeply watch her mastrubating/mental sex with David? That's just as fuck up imo. I've feeling that while David might still become Legion, he will multiply himself from those different personalities, just like the previous episode with different kind of "what if" Davids. Farouk/shadow king is the winner in this. He was in total control & the experiences really showed its dominance here. He still trying to capture/control David & even Lenny might still his proxy.

Syd forces David to view an eternity of her lifetimes to teach him one lesson... To be bad is fine so long as their love survives. Melanie shows Syd a few out of context moments of David being controlled and manipulated to be bad, and the fact that his face looks like he's enjoying it is enough to brainwash her to pull the trigger and attempt to kill him in cold blood. David survives and tries to erase the memory of a biased and motivated deceiver so Syd will stop trying to kill him and love can survive. Then, when all this comes to light, there is a trial... Not for the man who had tortured and killed so many people (he gets to be a witness and judge) not for the woman who attempted to murder a still innocent man, but for a person who was taken advantage of and thrown away by so many which is likely to do the same at some point in the future. Division 3 is a real basket case

In an earlier episode Future Sidney says that David kills Farouk by *bashing* him in the head in the dessert. But that doesn't happen as Sid interrupts him while he was *bashing* Farouk's head and thus doesnt kill him. This could be an indication that this is a seperate timeline (the whole point of episode 6- the theory of different timelines occuring in parallel universes) and thus there is a strong possibility that Legion will not turn evil and destroy the world..

Sadly no comments on the ending song, which said over and over "This is now real", "This is now really happening", after a whole season of us not understanding if this was real or not. Also, what about The Shadow King's crowd having a short circuit? If Farouk "escaped" from the prison and is manipulating everyone to believe David is bad, that would explain why he was released and could walk freely. I can't shake the feeling that if the strongest mutant alive (david) went mad with Farouk in his head, how can normal mutants like Syd or the Kerries not be influenced by him now that he is among them? They have to be influenced negatively by him. Some other points I don't agree is that Syd is so easily manipulated. I mean, she did turn on David after seeing his lies, but she also know that future Syd wanted to keep Farouk alive, so maybe instead of just being manipulated, she put one and one together and realized David is bad. The second point is that we might not see Melanie and Oliver in the third season. I mean, we know they are in the astroplain in three years for now, but we don't know how long they've been there. They can maybe be on the whole 3rd season and by the end of the season, decide to leave their bodies to go to the astroplain. Anyway, I thought the ending was fantastic, especially the first scene. Looking forward to the third season!

I think this season they got a little carried away with the fantastical elements of the show and forgot to refine the story. In the first season it works, because no scene, regardless of how wacky it appears, was there for the sake of just being wacky. It all made perfect sense in the end. But this season, there were so many visuals that was just thrown in for the sake of being funky. They were never explained in the end and served no real narrative purpose.

I cannot reconcile this finale's David with David from season 1. His and Syd's relationship was always so dear to me precisely because it was based on consent - he was happy agreeing to a non-physical relationship because she didn't like to be touched. no questioning it, no pressuring her. and he was always kind, sweet, almost naively believing in true love. and now in season 2 they call him a psychopath, he was supposedly evil all along, and what he did to Syd? It's inconsistent writing imo. I would buy that everyone turning against him turns him evil, and that immense, reality-changing power corrupts him, not to mention mental instability - but David being a bad person from the beginning and just hiding it? No.

Am i the only one that sees David as a victim here?How can you say that he is messed up for having "virtual sex" with his girlfriend? He just took a few hours away from her memories when Farouk manipulates her into siding with him. And just for that one little thing everybody turns their back on him. Its sad more than anything. If someone is messed up in this relationship is Syd she had sex with her mothers boyfriend in her body and let him go to prison, she keeps David on a leash like its his problem that she has abandonment issues, and shots David when he is trying to kill the guy that destroyed his childhood, put him in a mental hospital, almost drove him to suicide and last but not least, killed so many people including his sister. It seems so F**king pathetic when these SJW's try to incriminate David for doing nothing wrong, and pity Syd , the one that actually did so much harm.

My read for Farouk not being caged, is that they want a measure of defense if David resisted. It's not the best argument, but I like how disorienting the scene becomes. The "What if you're both?" question is something I've been waiting for the show to tackle. Maybe, just maybe we take the show in the direction of Legionquest? Have a dead Professor X. I think next season would be a good opportunity to do more with the comics, not full tilt but a heavier influence. Or of course you could explore the idea of a Muir Island place and maybe that's where David will spend Season 4 or perhaps he ends up there midseason 3. Who knows. I'm excited.

Somebody else on here actually just pointed out that it's possible Farouk was executed and wasn't actually there (possibly even imprisoned and was only able to mildly project his psyche into the room), but makes sense because Farouk didn't have his face all busted up when he walked in, while Syd still had her cut lip from the minotaur. Also, it makes sense that they wouldn't have actually of let the Shadow King in that room. I thought it was ridiculous if they had and a huge 'fuck you' to David if they really did let him just waltz in. I think the other theory is pretty good though, which lines up with his appearance.

Perfect song choice for a climax happening at the beginning of the show. Awesome visuals during that scene. Honestly, anytime David uses powers I get da gooseybumpers. Damn this was a good one. Cannot wait till next season of Legion. Season 3 looks like they're going with the Thanos method. The Phoenix destroyed an entire planet and fleet of technologically advanced aliens in the comics. It's not as powerful as Legion (and Jean Grey without the Phoenix certainly isn't), but it is an Omega-level mutant and far superior than anything that's been depicted on-screen so far. David's only flexed a fraction of his power, but he's already outshining the Phoenix on television.

Damn, i just cannt get over season 1-Syd. The sweet and uniqe relationship between her and David was the core reason why the 1st ss was so good to me. I dont know why they have to make Syd such an unlikeable character this season. She betrayed David by the worst way and for the most unconvincing reason. To be clear, i agree that David erasing Syd memory to buy him some time is a pretty reasonable action, but he is in fact guilty. In his point of view, Syd was being manipulated by Sk, and by being with her, she will somehow recall what they used to have. But in the reality, their relationship was over (Syd had made the decision on her own not under mind control) which made his actions basically manipulating her into loving him again. Even the other 2 personalities of David admitted it. In conclusion, i dont think David had bad intention, but his lack of comprehending the situation made things worse.( still, the Syd's crime is much more worse)

The narrator explained everything that was going on. “When all but one lost their mind, the last sane is perceived as insane”. Like how he explained earlier in the season that a delusion can start from a small idea and infect everyone even when it’s not rational. The start was when Farouk had the idea that he’s the hero and David is the villain and it spread to syd thinking it, to Carrie thinking it, to basket head and the whole division thinking it. Everything the narrators explained has been slowly happening this whole season and what happened was the result. I don’t think these guys got that. That’s why Farouk was in the room with them because they saw him as the hero. David thinking he’s a good person wasn’t the delusion. He was having doubts that he’s a good person because no one else believed it

He didn't use the rock because he wanted him to suffer. He wanted to kill him with his bare hands. The true delusion isn't that he was a good person and therefore deserved love, it was the label that determined such. By saying he's "good" he denied all that was "bad" about himself. He stunted his own growth as a person. Now that the shackle is off, he can grow (power included).

Farouk is dead. That whisper in the mouse's ear was just to show Syd the truth and lead her to stand against David and hatch a plan for his imprisonment and murder. However, this is Farouk's final move to defeat David after he dies. I mean when you think about it, Farouk controlled Melanie and got her to show Syd that David is bad. And like everyone said before, Syd is easily manipulated, even in the end when David erased her memory Farouk still got her to remember all the things she saw and realize what David did to her thus pushing her and Division 3 over the edge to finally attack David and oppose him. Although I don't believe that David is a bad guy at all, he's a powerful guy, yes. And in one possible future he turns evil ala Future Syd's future. But considering everything that has happened, I highly doubt that the future in the show's original timeline will play out like future Syd's future. I mean David truly is being treated unjustly, he's being punished over crimes he might commit in a possible future? And yet when Farouk saw Future Syd he decided to make her will come true. Obviously it's a clever play with the timelines when we realise that Psycho World Destroying David actually ran away with Lenny and is fucking her endlessly on a fur carpet. It leads the viewer into thinking that this timeline will pan out the same way, certainly the intention was to show that what happens in this timeline is close to what happened in Future Syd's timeline and a lot of the same stuff happened but it's not gonna end up the same way like a lot of people thought. Those who have read the comics know that Legion is actually an anti-hero, he's not a good-hearted hero like he was in the first 2 seasons nor is he a world-destroying villain like in the future. He's in the middle somewhere, and that's what season 3 will explore at. David not being accepted as a hero anymore by his friends (torturing Oliver, Farouk manipulating Melanie, Melanie convincing Syd, D3 already being doubtful of David, etc.) so they won't accept him anymore, that's why season 3 will be an inner-battle for David to stop himself from becoming the full-blown villain of the future while suffering from the alienation and fear of his friends from him, it's quite tragic in a way. But there's no better companion for him than Lenny, notno only because I always thought David and Lenny had way more chemistry than David and Syd together. But also because no one truly experienced alienation and rejection from society like Lenny. The evil junkie whoose conciseness was trapped by a mad man. She and David share so much in the sense that they both suffered from having their conciseness imprisoned by Farouk (first David, then Lenny experienced the same thing and understood what he went through all his life) and now, David being rejected and alienated from society and experiencing the same thing that Lenny went through all his life. So it seems great that they'll be there to comfort each other. Plus, it plays well about when David's sister asks Lenny if she's a good person which is something she always wondered about herself and was always unsure. While David has been sure most of his life that he's a good person but now he will questions whether he's not. It's truly quite brilliant. As for David and Farouk. Farouk died by being electrocuted as planned, but his plan of helping future Syd worked. That final scene with Farouk was him living on as a delusion in David's mind (like the two Davids, one who encourages him to escape and the other encourages him to become a God and herniate the universe in his wrath, an incredible symbolic manifestation of David's dueling possible future alternate personalities, the Anti-Hero and the villain, while O.G. David is Good David who has his final hours before dying out completely and now season 3 will be a battle between those two Davids the anti-hero and the villain about who will come out as the victor) and that's all Farouk is gonna be for now, but Noah Hawley won't reveal this to us instantly. Instead he will play it off as a surprise twist somewhere during the mid-season while we wonder for a couple of episodes thinking that Farouk has gotten ahold of Division 3 personnel. When it's actually mass hysteria at work, like that narration by Jon Hamm about a delusion (a delusion that David is bad when nothing holds concrete evidence that he is, he enjoys beating the crap out of Farouk because he literally tormented and imprisoned him all his life, he enjoys the vengeance like any sane man would, not the violence behind it. And that Mealnie psycho babble about how you can make a man do something he doesn't want but you can't make him enjoy it? Sure you can, Farouk had control over his mind and could make him Kill anyone with his brain, he can't express feelings of satisfied emotions while doing it through David? That is bull). It's like that scene where Jon Hamm asks what's more frightening? Fear? Or the afraid? It's obviously the afraid because it's their illogical fear and insecurity about what David can become that drives him to become evil, but it will be a battle of wills between himself and him to not completely turn despite being completely rejected by society and his friends. They just needed the push, or slight nudge in that regard to drive them mad. Jon Hamm also closes up the season saying that "Sanity is what 9 out of 10 people agree on, leaving the tenth man to be hanged" just because people agree on something doesn't make it real or sane, David is the sane one and he's being prosecuted by insecure scared people who are thinking and acting illogically. But it's not because of Farouk, he's dead. That final sequence with him is a delusion in David's mind like the two Davids no one see or interact with, just like no one else at D3 sees or interacts with Farouk except for David. Plus, Farouk has none of the scars from his battle with David and is wearing his traditional telepathic suit and glasses. Also, I very much doubt that D3 would let Farouk hang around with them just like that when he has similar Psychic powers to David's only happens to be a proven murderer. That's my analysis of last season and next season possibilities of Legion.

The thing with the rock is actually much darker, imho - David could have killed Farouk fairly quickly but he deliberately chose to take the longer route, so he can take some time to enjoy beating him to death... Which goes to show that despite all of the moral ambiguity of this season David really _does_ enjoy torturing people - he didn't do it because he had to, it literally would have been far more logical to just kill Farouk outright but no, David wanted to savor it and torture him some more...

Apporv Kishlay Yes, but he could have just hit him with the rock one more time and it would have been over, but David chose not to, clearly enjoying beating him to death. Which may be understandable, but it _is_ pretty dark... I find it interesting how this episode left us in some moral panic, how different people have vastly different readings of what actually happened, it's a fairly clever move if it was intentional, but imho I think we're given a bit of a false dichotomy here - either David did almost nothing wrong and it's all Farouk's manipulations, or David has gone full villain and Farouk did almost nothing wrong here... Why not both? :) The more I think about it the more I feel like a) Farouk did manipulate the situation, in subtle ways but he did, but also b) David does have a fair bit of darkness in him and is spiraling out of control.

DeathRacer25x David's reaction is understandable in its basis, and he's more than justified to take Farouk down, the trouble is that he might be getting lost in his need for revenge. He's getting so blinded by rage that it's really pushing him towards a place so dark he might never come back from it, especially given his unstable mind. We'll see if he'll be able to bounce back somehow, or whether he'll be more and more destructive, and will likely destroy the world as a result. For what it's worth I don't think he's really evil or a full blown villain, he keeps trying to be good, he's just been through more than his mind can handle, so he's kinda at crossroads now.

My interpretation is that we can't necessarily rely on the narrative provided by the other Davids in his mind. It seems to me like the idea that he "is a good person and deserves love" is not the delusion, but the idea that he is delusional for thinking that was the delusion; the very delusion which causes him to become "Legion". Maybe him becoming evil was a kind of self fulfilling prophecy and the rest of them made him 'turn' into a monster through their actions which took out of fear of him becoming a monster. Every step David has taken toward becoming evil has been directly motivated by the actions of Farouk, div3 and the other mutants/Melanie. Future Syd reaching back in time to try to stop David, unbeknownst to her, could have been the catalyst for the apocalyptic future she inhabited, because there was no reason for her or any of them to figure out it was their fault. After the trial against David, when he turns evil, in their minds it was not their doing, but just the path he was headed down all along and that they had simply failed to stop him. Keep in mind, we have seen the majority of this show pretty much from David's perspective, and he never even exhibited signs of wanting to do evil things, let alone destroy the world, until after the others start turning against him and acting suspicious. Even the other versions of himself in his head that told him to turn against the rest of them were only warning him out of suspicion of the others, and that suspicion was 100% justified at that point.

yeah I think yall didnt really revise this episode because the point is that shadow k. had tricked everyone into going against david. for one for someone with mental health you DONT antagonize him you try to help, syd and amy were his only trustworthy people. he trusted a group of people that broke him out of the mental institute , got him to trust them, then turn on him when he needed you most. He was abandoned all his life, controlled by a demon, tried to kill him 3 x , then tell him if he doesn't become a zombie again we'll kill you , wouldn't you leave too? he couldve killed all of them when he woke up from the bullet explosion. They created there own villain because of delusion of the s.k also syd didn't push him away or tell him no she had free will to say no but she was on top. sounds just like when she got her moms bf sent to jail. And I don’t think Farouk was exactly lying when he said he’s tried to make David love him. I think there’s nothing he’d love more than to be able to take the son of his oldest enemy, David’s father, and win him over. Might be toxic in its own way but I think there was at least some truth to it

1. The lady who wanted to go to the "endless dream" knew both Professor X and Farouq. 2. We know the Admiral knows Professor X because of the secret military mutant project showed to Ptonemy inside the computer. 3. This might mean the Admiral and Farouq are in fact acquaintances. 4. Syd wanted Farouq alive to stop David so while the rest of the timeline is playing out, the one thing that has changed already is that Farouq is alive and that does not necessarily mean he will kill David. 5. Farouq's attatchment to David could have something to do with his birth mother and Professor X and a love triangle. 6. This timeline of Davids birth also mirrors the last X-Men movies with Magneto as he was in Poland and Davids birth mother was German and one could possibly conclude the Professor tried looking for Magneto after defeating Farouq to maybe? protect the kid before Farouq got to him by using his anti mentalist helmet...

When "Melanie" was showing Syd the scenes of David torturing Albert: afterward, Albert bounced back pretty quickly. Making me thing David didn't really torture him. This whole thing is hard to follow, but my hypothesis is that "Melanie" was really Farouk, and was showing her false info all along. Yes David is a bit crazy, but he's still the (mostly) good guy. Farouk is straight up bad.

I think David’s “physic bill Cosby moment” wasn’t intentionally nefarious on his part, In his head he was trying to make love to Syd to help remind her of their love, it wasn’t a rape moment where he’s getting off on the whole control thing or anything like that. It was a very misguided attempt at rectifying the situation in David’s part To answer the whole shadow king not on trial anymore ,I think thelittle mouse might have visited more than Syd that night. Which would explain why he wasn’t in trouble with D3 anymore. Like what else could it be??? Yea I agree, the best part of the episode is the opening fight... my girlfriend doesn’t understand the fights in the season, but I tell her why just fight with fists when you are gods? what’s really the difference between a dance and a knife fight when you are that powerful ? Also I noticed another ode to Pink Floyd the wall movie in the beginning animation fight, where they morphing and blending into each other.. just like the animations did in Pink Floyd.. very cool stuff

So, I’m going to respond to a lot of the “hate” that Syd is getting now...Remember the “Nocebo Effect” where they showed the ORANGE sugar water and kept repeating “THIS WILL MAKE YOU VOMIT... THIS WILL MAKE YOU VOMIT...” Go watch it all again and notice how Syd wears ORANGE and is surrounded by ORANGE... the whole point of this season was delusion and fear and real vs not real, etc... I think subliminally you were meant to start associating Syd with feelings of queasiness and eventually wanting to “vomit” her out, thinking she is poisonous, when really she might be like the SUGAR WATER (probably not evil?) There are so many mind games going on this season, but the narrations by Jon Hamm are meant to help us through this MAZE together as an audience, and teach us concepts and give us clues, and I believe there are SO many clues given throughout the season, whether it is color (green, red, orange, blue, etc.), shapes (hexagons EVERYWHERE, circles, squares, X’s), objects (the cow!🐄) or the announcements in Division 3 (“Any shift in reality may signal an attack...if you see something, say something” or “The loss of meaning is not normal” or “New symptom alert: Irritability, Loss of meaning, Confusion, Obsessive thoughts, Repetitive sounds, Hopelessness, Despair, A strong urge to confess” etc...). Yes, I wrote them all down (I’m recovering from surgery so I have a lot of time😉). Every choice Noah Hawley has made has been deliberate and brilliant imo... even down to the song choices. Just reading through the comments shows that almost everyone has bought into the delusion and we’re questioning ourselves and all of the other characters (like WE are David and we’re caught in his mind maze). The last words we hear in season 2 is a distorted song saying “this is not real...” BUT we don’t know who to trust, which is a brilliant way to lead us into season 3 (which I am SO happy about!!😁). I’m a hopeless (or hopeful) romantic, so I refuse to give up on Syd and David just yet. I’m following Syd’s advice from her mind maze episode... I’m watching it again, and then again... each time I catch something new that blows my mind and helps me understand more of the story... like Syd and David finding their skeletons lying together in that tent that looks like they spent many years there (it is homey, decorated, and even has a chandelier!)... Remember that David says to Syd that AFTER they are done they should move to the country and settle down, etc. AND Syd says to David “When the time comes... prove me wrong.” There was a time loop type thing that happened there, so maybe they ultimately have a chance to go back and change things. “LOVE is what we have to save if we’re going to save the world!” “Promise me that if we get lost, we get lost together,” “God loves the sinners best, because their fire burns bright, bright... burn with me!” ... So many people are discarding Syd so quickly when they’re not seeing how the delusion of David being evil/untrustworthy was planted in season 1 (esp by Ptonomy) then the delusion (oily chicken) grew steadily over season 2, and finally turned into madness with the help of Farouk (as Melanie)... remember that Farouk has a connection to Syd’s mind clear back from the first episode when she swapped bodies with David. Farouk has been messing with Syd ever since, and was even able to see her (and possibly influence her) in the future. In the beginning of this season, Syd is found in the D3 hallway, staring at something that looks like a bathtub-type plug in the wall when David shows up naked from teleporting out of Cary’s tank (there is the trail of the oil chicken leading to Syd... this was after Ptonomy put the doubt in her mind about David). Eventually we see Syd take the “bait” (the rabbit) by a GIANT bathtub plug, and she falls down the rabbit hole, like Alice in Wonderland, into a world where she is completely manipulated by the images Farouk/Melanie shows her. We don’t yet know what happens to her with the Minotaur, before she shows up holding it’s severed head along with a gun to kill David. Girl Kerry even makes a gross comment to Cary that the Minotaur’s blood smelled like beef bullion, but didn’t TASTE like it🤢... WHAT THE HELL?? (Something’s up with the Loudermilks!) Then David recognizes Syd is not herself and so he suppresses her memory temporarily. I question if David really had sex with her after, or if it was a delusion (David seemed different, his face all twitchy, etc., and when Admiral Fukuyama looks into Syd’s room, she’s acting out sex ALONE). That doesn’t sound like the real David. (David acts stunned when Syd accuses him of drugging her and having sex with her). I think at this point in the future “trial” EVERYONE is under the influence of the Shadow King. Until David “gets up from the kiddie table” and learns that HE can decide what is real (Farouk tells him YOU decide what’s real... YOUR will... Gods don’t follow rules, they make them... Come and sit with the big boys!). As long as David is stuck in anger and vengeance, he will continue to be manipulated by Farouk, who is the master of shadows (illusions... like the cave/cell phones). What will happen when David “wakes up” or comes out of the “cave?” Will his world be “incomprehensible?” Can he exist without Farouk, or do they somehow need each other (“We are SUN and MOON”). We all have good in us. But we have evil, too. Human beings are dual natured, and we are the only creatures who try to make sense of our world, which is why we are the only creatures who can go mad. Quoting Jon Hamm from the beginning of Season 2... “Welcome to MADNESS.” Well, Noah Hawley, I think you got us there!🤪 Thanks for the ride! This is the best TV series I’ve ever seen, and I’m excited to see what crazy journey you lead us on next!🙏 I love the casting, the set designs, the lighting, and esp the use of artistic mediums like song and dance to tell the story. And I hope Dan Stevens wins an Emmy for his portrayal of David. My schizophrenic brother-in-law finally threw himself in front of a moving bus (and died😪) because of all of the voices and visions, and trouble with cops, and delusions sometimes believing he was Jesus Christ, causing damage to property and threatening harm to his loved ones... he committed suicide because he wanted to prevent himself from hurting anyone further, esp the son he left behind, and the woman he loved (his ex-wife who left because of the illness, but never stopped loving him). Dan Stevens has captured the plight of the paranoid schizophrenic so effectively, but it’s treated in a way that doesn’t feel like it’s mocking mental illness. When my brother in law was “clear” he was loving and brilliant, but the other side of him was terrifying at times (kind of like David, however David IS a god, so when his bad side manifests, the whole world is in danger). But I digress... I love these breakdowns of the show, and I love the comments you all leave and discussions that follow. This is my first time leaving a comment (sorry it’s so long!) so if you stayed with me through the end, thank you, and I’d love to hear what you think...the only reason I’m leaving a comment here is because everyone here seems to be really respectful and nice to each other, even when there are disagreements... one last Jon Hamm lesson: “The worst delusion of all is that other people don’t matter, and we need to learn that if we treat others (online) as unfeeling shadows, we will eventually all become that, and we cease to be real.❤️ I love the Legion crowd because everyone seems real and thoughtful and intelligent. You all make me stretch my mind after each episode and I really appreciate those of you who know the comics really well and give tidbits of info about David/Legion. That just adds to the depth and complexity of who David really is (and I am “TeamPatrickStewart” for Season 3... it would be an EPIC return to television for one of my favorite actors of all time, and just imagine how huge Legion the TV series would become knowing the world could have another chance to see our Professor X in action, this time in the magical mind blowing world of Noah Hawley and Nathaniel Halpern (and their amazing team of creative geniuses). Sooo much rich material to explore with Dan and Sir Patrick!!😍🙏) It WOULD be crazy to pass up that opportunity FX!!!

David going dark is necessary - and I’m all pro that. What they did with Syd...What. The. Hell? We’ve spent so much time with her this season, espousing the need to be ‘hard,’ and ‘damaged’ to survive/win. That saving love would save the world. They devoted an entire episode to that, and then they threw the whole thing away with a ‘nope, never mind’ in the last 5 minutes. To make the flip on that in a shady-ass hole with a black-hat Melanie after seeing a few clips of him doing what he said he was going to do for most of the season just seems kinda lazy. I do love desert Lenny though...desert Lenna can GET IT.

Seriously enjoyed your analysis this season however I think you have got the wrong end of the stick on this last episode and I hope my ideas make you more excited about next season. Let me explain my thoughts.... David isnt deluded and he isnt bad but Farouke knows he is unstable and can be pushed over the line especially if Sid stops loving him. So who is deluded? Everyone else is. Like in the narration with the girls getting the compulsive spasm, one by one they all believe David is bad even though he isnt, but where did it come from? Well David managed to discover the obvious delusion earlier in the season but he missed Melanie Bird who is in completey 'off her head' and under the control of Farouke. You say her part was small but i think she was the most important role this season. Her delusion has lay hidden and spread through everyone via Sid. It reminds me of Inception where they have to bury the idea deep to make it work and by getting Sid to believe David is bad they have all fallen for it. This is why they have unschackled Farouke. They all believe this lie that David is bad and Farouke is good. So why is Farouke doing this? Like Farouke said David is his ' baby' his lifes work or apprentice where he has spent so much time controlling David and trying to make him in his own image. Farouke said he was sad to see David 'like this (caged and weak) undone by revenge'. The choice of word 'undone' shows Farouke isnt sad he is now bad,he is sad that David isnt fulfilling his God potential. Farouke tried to push David earlier in the season by bringing back Lenny(his sidekick during the bad times in his life) and by doing that to his sister he hope David would snap. Farouke made a comment about the new sun or something like that. He was hoping it would trigger David to fulfill his potential and join him at the big table. What about future Sid? This idea knits it all together. How do we know future David has destroyed the world. Well future Sid said so but how do we know this future sid isnt possibly deluded sid or even FAROUKE himself!! This make the whole lie work if present Day Farouke is tricked by himself that David destroys the world.......oooooo Love it!

Its gonna sound random but both seasons of this show are describing NPD/Sociopathic abuse. David the seemingly erratic P.T.S.D victim, farouk the charming calm influencial abuser. Everyone else have now become the shadow kings proxy abusers. People like his sister have always projected their own insecurities that he was crazy onto him because its feels safer for him to be controlled, "clean and safe". Farouk has now pretty much totally smeared and isolated david. A scene literally exactly like the trial in this show happens to every victim of a NPD or sociopath. Where everyone around you accuses you of being what your abuser is and turn on you in self protection and a misinformed sense of "were trying to help you" from a delusional fear that was fed to them with half truths, no context, lies and making the victim behave out of character or angry to protect themselves. Farouk successfully painted him as a monster by attacking him constantly to destabilize him so he looks crazy, then when david reacts farouk points the finger like, look hes evil. Remove Davids justification and the anger looks like madness. Even the way farouk is standing there while everyone else does the attacking for him and the condescending line "A good boy ruined by revenge" is exactly how they behave. David deserves whatever he wants to do to farouk, noone else can judge that, its too personal and evil what was done to him, noone else knows farouk like him, he is too much of a danger to the people david loves and the world so honestly he should be killed, or preferably locked away forever if possible but its not, they tried that and he escaped. The first season shows how abusers get in your head, the second season is how they get in everyone elses head and paint you the bad guy. Its all still farouks game and david is the only one who knows it, though he doesnt know the full game, hence the "nine wise men the tenth hangs" line, david is the tenth man that knows the truth. David is a good person and was never insane, everything he has said is justified and/or true. The rapey thing with syd is cause he knows shes been manipulated to hate him and he is desperate to fix it and be with her, it was a dumb descision, not evil, the same as syds when she was young. everyone else is insane now acting on a delusion. If david was really evil he could have just killed them all right there, all he did was leave because they were going to kill him and now the shadow king will use the people he loves as his wall of offense/defense.

It sucks that David and Syd are done now, and I really hope he doesn't start sleeping with his step sisters body, but I'm looking forward to Legion Unleashed. Funny that the couple who worked with Farouk is the couple that gets off the best. Also, while I like and understamd where they ended up (including Syd's self fulfilling prophecy), I really didn't like how they ended up there. If everything from episode 10 and 11 was Farouk mentally manipulating people to get what he wants, it could habe been shown much better. And if Syd really is supposed to turn on David and start him down the path to LEGION, they REALLY should have foreshadowed it better. And not have her fall for Shadow Melanie immediately (have that be a season long arc maybe).

What do you mean? It was foreshadowed all season. In the very beginning she still refers to him as "her man". Each episode she starts to question more and more. The more he went to go see future Syd she became jealous. As she began catching him/noticing lies she doubted more and more. Also the conversation with melanie in her room (also under farouks control). By the time she was in the cave with Melanie she was already so full of doubt that all it took was the little push to make her think that she had been lying to herself all along. Not to mention the very first time we see future syd you can tell something happened between them by her reaction to seeing him. These are just a few examples. If you think it wasn't foreshadowed then I don't think you were paying very much attention.

No one acknowledges the Shadow King while he's in the room as well as his wounds are healed. Syd says she was drugged which she wasn't. Seems a lot of things are being manipulated to get David to go even crazier than he already is and likely is how more personalities are developing. That or everything isn't real and it's to get David to submit to the Shadow King in an alternate way. Technology seems to be all over the place as well along with the weird objects in the background in many scenes.

The main problem with this season is there was no plot. Plenty of good ideas, great set pieces, and aesthetically gorgeous. But none of it went anywhere. No plot means characters were all over the place. The whole good/bad tension was badly handled and confused. You are so right about the twists and turns feeling contrived. Who are we even meant to sympathise with? The only character with any real inner world we can relate to is David. So we have a huge amount of confusion and hanging questions - plot points promised and not delivered on. I suppose the show runners want us to be looking forward to the next season to see if we'll ever get any resolution to all these loose ends, but I doubt we will, and that's a cheap, cynical way to treat an audience. Disappointing.

anything from the future cannot be trusted as ones actions now can change the outcome. although betrayal has taken place I do not believe this is the same betrayal that causes David to turn as events ARE different. for example the shadow king is still alive. He is dead in future Syds timeline but this is NOT the same timeline. you guys are way too literal for Legion. Its ultimately a modern tale of the evils in this world that we all fight everyday. any of us could be David. its about choices...make better choices! Best show ever cant wait for season 3.

David constantly repeating he's a good person is obviously point to the opposite being true. His need to repeat that constantly is clearly a form of denial. Also, did Syd conveniently forget she rapped a person and ruined lives using her "it's me or them" excuse? Talk about self-righteous. But it IS strange that Division 3 would release Farouk like that. Anyway, a fantastic episode, great season finale.

My season 3 predictions: (12/3/2018) 1. David and Lenny are going to wreak havoc in the first episode. 2. Farouk is going to pretend to be the "good guy" to D3, meanwhile he continues to carry out his evil deeds. 3. Syd is going to take charge, ultimately becoming a symbol of hope for other mutants to join her in the fight to prevent this so-called "WAR" with David. 4. When it's too late, they'll all realize who Farouk really is... 5. David, now labeled the villain, will unleash his god-like powers, destroying most of civilization.

I feel like they didn't do the episode justice with this breakdown. For one, they completely skip over the monologue right before the trial. Where Carrie was narrating the story of crazy people being shipped away when in truth it was the shippers that were crazy. "if all the apples are bruised then the un-bruised one is bad" "the sane man is crazy" . I think it's safe to say that since they all turned on David he must be the unbruised one, the one ship away, the crazy one that's actually sane. And also, isn't it weird that he was wearing red through out the episode and then white when the turned on him?

Both these guys missed some very important points. There are multiple futures and time lines, a whole episode was dedicated this. The details in oliver and melanie's video on the astral plane has some very interesting details if you pay close attention(they are not a reliable narrators also). If you want to know my opinion, sydney from a certain timeline in the future set all of this in motion.

Jeeze you guys really missed the mark here. Of course no one in their right mind would let Farouk free. Because they aren't in their right minds. Hello? Did we all forget what the Shadow King can do? Did we forget about the mouse? Please rewatch before making another waste of time video.

Farook has been setting this whole thing up from the get go. He's been alive for thousands of years, has full control of his powers and now has his og(maybe Lenny's) body. David is his only equal. He'll do anything to make him realise that, including stripping him of all and any humanity within him but David is Omega so even from this he can bring it back. So excited for next season.

i think there one mistake when the shadow king had david he kinda almost switched to legion and broke free before the shockweave from the dampener hit them both i think david would still win even without lenny's help
