No doubt the best of his era and arguably the best of all time. Lewis was just pretty much drama free compared to other boxers so there was no media spectacle following him like Tyson. He just went in and whooped everyone and avenged his loss in a spectacular way. Plus he's just an all around class act and gentleman. The best for sure. Tyson is more famous and you'll see movies made about him because of the chaos that surrounded his life. Tyson is one of the greats but Lennox is thee best..

Lennox Lewis did come from Canada 🇨🇦 as an Olympian Gold Metalist , and he defeated USA 🇺🇸 boxer Riddick Bow in 1986 Olympic Games and later on became England 🇬🇧 next contender for the WBC and Big Daddy nickname decided to put the title in the bin and Lennox Lewis which he never had a nickname recycled ♻️ it with a controversial through court case and won.

I think if Mike Tyson had been in his prime, Tyson could have won too. Tyson had the best punch combinations with the most power. Unfortunately, the death of his two father figures, a tick as a wife, a manager who only exploits and steals from him, as a world champion has caused such a deep fall with the rape accusations and then in prison. Honestly, after all this, no one can tell me otherwise. I think so many blows of fate, breaches of trust, not being able to trust anyone anymore, would have broken many people. Yes, after all these experiences, he started losing. He simply didn't prepare as well, there was less movement in the ring than back then, and even the punches usually didn't have the same power as before. I think that in those five years, Tyson was the best boxer of all time. He listened, learned and fought with his brain. Such a large selection of perfectly executed shots plus his defensive work were simply really, really good at that time, and every shot could be the end immediately. It's a bit like Michael Jordan first Bulls, then WIzzard......

He was good but not the greatest. My biggest problem with Lennox was he got knocked out twice in his prime. He would avenge both losses against McCall and Rahman. When he got knocked down he was done. Ali got up, Holmes got up when they were down in their primes and fought back. The Ali from 64 to 74 would have outboxed him. The Larry Holmes from 78 to 83 would have beaten him. Larry had a way better chin. He proved that when he fought McCall shortly after McCall had KO'd Lewis and Larry at 45 years old and way past his prime went 12 with McCall and lost a split decision. He's in the top 5 and yes he would be capable of beating any of the past Champions. I honestly still think his last fight against Vitali Klitschko was one of his most impressive simply because he wasn't at his best that night. He was suppose to fight someone else and Klitschko came in on just a few weeks notice. To fight someone of that level on short notice is unheard of and he did show more heart in that fight and I think he upped his status even more.

@Modiluves Cock I know a lot more than you think. Bowe ducked Lewis because Lewis had already kicked his arse in the Olympic final in 1988. Rock Newman saw his gravy train coming to an end if Bowe fought Lewis. He knew Lewis would give him another beating, hence the decision to put the belt in the bin.

Definitely one of the greatest heavyweights ever. He had it all. He was big, had good reach, maintained distance but could fight in close when he needed to and he had devastating knockout power. He had a very high ring I.Q. too. The fact that all the great heavyweights of his era didn't want to fight him says it all. He was feared because they knew how good he was. It really pleases me that he gets the recognition now that they didn't want to give him back then. He come out of his career with all of his faculties intact. You would never know he'd been fighting the best heavyweights in the world for 20 years.

Tyson Fury vs Wilder first fight was a worse knockout go watch both fights. His second knockout loss in South Africa yes he definitely got knocked out but everybody knows he was off filming Ocean's 11 with Julia Roberts, landed five days before the fight at high altitude, seems like the right recipe for disaster and he got it. What happened in the rematch? The old chin thing doesn't wash anymore, he beat every man he faced and that's the fact. Your comments are a hater comment that's all it is. By the way I'm also a ex boxer someone who's done it. If you've never been a boxer you no nothing because you don't know what it takes and speak to any boxer and they will tell you any Heavyweight can get knocked out, that's why it's the marquee division in boxing because all it takes is one punch in that division.

Now we have champions like Fury, Joshua and Wilder, all taller than him. Fury have a whole extra inch of reach on him and he's 4 inch taller. I think Lennox would still be the best, but his era would struggle against the new one beleive me.

If I had to pick a GOAT Boxer P4P is Floyd Mayweather I don't like how he fights but he utilizes the Basic Premise of the Science that is Boxing the Science that Cus D'Amato taught all of his fighters "The best most effective punch is thrown when you can hit the opponent solidly and your opponent can't hit you at all " Mayweather always hits when he has the angle and utilizes head movement and footwork to stay in positions where he can't receive damage but he can deliver punches and he picks his shots based on where the punch will place him in relation to his opponent but for Best Heavyweight Boxer of all time I'd have to say #1: Lennox Lewis and Muhammad Ali #2: Mike Tyson , Evander Holyfield, Joe Louis, Tyson Fury Rocky Marciano, and Jack Dempsey. Anthony Joshua just got the Buster Douglas treatment from Anthony Ruiz but he may still comeback from this defeat and become a Great Champion in the future but right now he hasn't Proven his greatness, and Deontay Wilder though going 42-0 before a draw with Tyson Fury and then a loss to Tyson Fury shortly thereafter so now he's 42-1-1 and out of the first 42 what highly acclaimed Boxer did Deontay Wilder fight for me fighting tomato cans doesn't prove anything but I could be wrong and Deontay Wilder could comeback from his loss to Tyson Fury and become one of the best Heavyweight Boxers of this Era maybe even of all time

Lennox kept getting better even as he got older. Emanuel Steward was such a great fit for him. My favorite trainer and fighter. Tall, heavy handed, cerebral and technical. Lewis had all the tools. He also took a better shot than people give him credit for being able to take. The shot Rahman hit him with is one of the hardest punches I’ve ever seen and would have probably knocked out most anyone. Lewis also had the sneaky trick of grabbing his opponent by the back of the head and hitting him with that great uppercut. He did it so fast that he rarely was ever admonished by the ref because the ref never saw it. Glad he retired when he did. Was smart enough not to hang on too long. One of the greatest careers in boxing history.

The way Hollyfield hung in there while getting beaten to shit, is one one of the toughest things i;ve ever seen a fighter do. Lennox was the most complete fighting in heavyweight history - period! His length, power, quickness/athleticism, and huis high level of skill made him the perfect fighter. To see him just dismantle Hollyfield the way he did, a guy who is also certainty one of the ten greatest heavyweights of all time, is just amazing! Lennox may not be the "greatest" of al time, but there's simply no other heavyweight as good nor as well-rounded as he was in his prime in the mid to late 90's. I also love the immense respect both those two fighters had for one another, it's something i truly wish you'd see more of in combat sports nowadays, unfortunately alot of guys need to convince themselves to hate their opponent, whether it's deserved or not, just to get themselves in the right frame of mind to go in the ring and do battle. Not to mention I've noticed that over the last couple decades the trash talking you see has often progressively worse over the past couple decades, and it's more and more obvious that not only do alot of these guys not like each other, but they obviously don't respect each other as well.

He knew he was on the downside of his career against vitali. Unlike most boxers, he knew when to call it quits. He's in good shape and his speech isn't slurred.

@@piwetshombe4684 If Vitali was a true competitor he would have fought Chris Byrd again. But he didn't. Torn rotator cuff and quit on his stool. A true champ would have finished the fight or prove he could beat him again. Lewis didn't need to fight again - 2 more rounds and a few more uppercuts and Vitali would have quit on his own. The stopped fight saved his eye.

@@bryanmiddleton6053 We’re not talking about Vitali and his track record though. We’re talking about Lewis. Lewis knows he should have taken that rematch against Vitali. The other fight I have a gripe with Lewis about was the way he clinched Tyson in the opening rounds of their fight - effectively tiring Tyson. I didn’t like that way of winning.

As a lifelong boxing fan, now in my late 60s, who fought as an amateur, ( 25 fights at middleweight, winning 20, 1 draw and 4 defeats) I always knew how great Lennox was! Never doubted that he was the best heavyweight ever to come out of the UK and definitely in the top 5 heavyweights of all time. Maybe even the best, although Ali and Joe Louis in their primes would have given him a good fight

You don't know all the details. According to Bowe they were making unrealistic demands for the fight, so Bowe wouldn't give them the satisfaction of screwing him. So who was really ducking who? We may never know. Lewis would have probably won, but it's like the Ali-Joe Louis debate or 1,000s of others; we will never know.
