Hilarious as always. On a serious non comedic note though, acceptance month rather than "pride" makes far more sense. I'm not even proud of things I've actually achieved, let alone for simply being who I am.

@@That-Bond-Babe I understand it as proud for risking yourself in the past, and in countries where it's illegal to be openly homosexual etc. But there's no pride in it now it's accepted. In many ways, it seems like an attempt to regain the notoriety by a few outspoken groups, because everyone has stopped paying attention to it. Which is surely what was wanted? So yeah, acceptance month. EDIT: Which basically means not caring what people do if it isn't hurting anyone, so just June instead :)

@werxeh "if it's not hurting anyone" I draw the line at children. When children are bring predated upon then I will oppose whatever that movement or group is. That's after the fact that, as she says above, having pride over an intrinsic or trivial character trait (eye color, hair color, height, skin color etc) is utterly ridiculous. Who a person is, are their values/morals/principles as they live them through convictions. Not their skin color, not how they walk, not how they talk (vocal fry that lots of young women and gay men employ), not their favorite music or food. Humanity is having an identity crisis because having a true identity requires work, discipline and conviction. Whereas asigning your base character traits as your identity requires no work and is self affirming. The whole thing is a sham.

@@rickyspanish492 I fully agree with her and you, that is why I stipulated not hurting anyone. Physical or psychological abuse is still damage, and that is something everyone should discourage. Because that is illegal regardless of sexuality for anyone.

@@irreverend_ I don't think it should be given any avenue. Give an inch and they take a mile. As evidenced every time it happens in history, including this one. "Acceptance" was achieved which means it was never about acceptance. I would rather remove the alphabets and progressives from society than allow them to drag everyone else down with them. The greater good is what matters most. Not the minority. It's so funny how they will always shriek about "dEmoCraCy iN dAngEr" when the real threat to true democracy is allowing the minority to dictate the majority. Especially when that minority hates the majority.

I don’t know, I feel like most of the time when conservatives or politicians bring this point up they never really care about people who serve. They only bring it up in relation that gay people don’t deserve to have pride. We actually do have a military appreciation month, but it’s just not as main stream in the general population, that’s why we celebrate Memorial Day in the month. I just hate how these people think we as gay people don’t “struggle” anymore and we don’t deserve to be recognise…when in other countries just our existence means death or imprisonment. If you really care about the military you would talk about the millions of homeless vets in our streets, the amount of sexism that occurs that still occurs to women serving, or rampant mental health crisis effecting a lot of those serving (it’s crazy the amount of sucides and sucide referral you see in the low enlisted community), but again that doesn’t matter at the end of the day to these people. The military and the people who serve are always just a pawn, only brought up in relation to others but never actually going in depth of what we can do for our service men and women

@@jacksonvilletaxman1 I said it doesn’t ‘just’ mean fear, so not sure why you’re straw manning me saying ‘instead of’ when it means both, just look in a dictionary. What do you mean by ‘real life’ It is literally used everyday to imply dislike or aversion, hence transphobia or homophobia. It’s only used to describe ‘fear’ when referring to disorders like agoraphobia and arachnophobia. It is also used in biology to describe organisms who dislike certain conditions (photophobia, hydrophobia). The opposite suffix is ‘philia’ or ‘philic’. You not being aware of the meaning of words is on you, not anybody else. Nobody is saying transphobia is a mental disorder. Simply disliking an agenda doesn’t make you transphobic, disliking trans people for no reason other than them being trans is what makes someone transphobic. I’m sure you’d agree people shouldn’t change the meaning of words just to suit them.

But they only do that during pride month.... I mean that's the issue isn't it? If it was just a march of solidarity or some such, no one would care. It does NOT!

He knows no trans folk, doesn’t like lesbians, doesn’t identify as queer (I had to ask him what the Q stood for) and doesn’t see why he should be categorised alongside people who like banging women now and again. I don’t know what the + means. He probably told me at some point after I got bored listening to him moaning about it all and drifted off. I do take his point though. We’ve been friends for 38 years (and he has been openly gay for 37 of those) so I’m allowed to get bored when he starts droning. This isn’t homophobia - gays can be boring too now and again. It is nice though to have this perspective, that the LGB etc (I’m not being flippant I’m genuinely afraid of missing out a recently added letter of which I am unaware) community is anything but. For comparison if you took all religious folk and called them the JMBCH community you would end up with something similar, a community made up of factions who really have little or nothing to do with one another. A fallacy. Here endeth the lesson. Straight people can be boring too 😊

Yes why isn't there a proud to be straight month why do gays need a charity they have full rights althoughbi know a lot if gays don't support what oxide has become. What us so special about theircsexualty that there's a month devoted to it oh no its gays transgenders bisexuality and assesuals. Do y think y are better than straight people is that it I believe Italy cancelled pride month and had family mo th instead.good for them 8 don't push my straight sexualty why should they push theirs

His Scottish accent makes the jokes even better. Non-Americans have such effective vocabulary and makes things a lot funnier than they probably are. It took me a _very_ long time to know I'm Ace, partly because I don't f*cking care about orientation or labels. Is it too much to simply exist without knowing some personal preferences? I'm all for figuring oneself out to have a peace of mind but, damn. The alphabet people have taken things **WAY** too far this year. Be happy with who and what you are but let's remember to keep some things to ourselves. Some gay guys I knew/know didn't show any "signs" as they didn't make it out to be their only characteristic. Very polite. Well spoken. They also just so happened to dress very well but doesn't every self-respecting person do that? Annnyway, the only real fact Leo didn't say about who's actually upset about us Asexuals is feminists. Feminazis in particular, the man-hating ones that want nothing more or less to wipe us off the Earth. When in college I read a passage which humored me. It was a bona fide statement backed up by some sources claiming Feminazis hate us Aces because we don't fit into that stupid rhetoric they're always saying: "Men only want one thing..." uh... if it means what I think it does, no we don't. Begone, Karen! Off to CVS for a boxed wine for your sorrows and bag of Whiskas for the cats! Try to figure out a more practical way to insult us Aces. Take your time. I can wait. By the way, if I understand the online community correctly, "we" don't want to have anything to do with the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ+ people at all. Neither do black or Hispanic people, if that's what the triangle part on the rainbow flag means. It's demoralizing. Black coworker of mine said it makes him and the family come off as needy for support and want more attention like any other oppressed minority. Nope, nope. nope. He's pretty well off as a matter of fact. Nobody needs that and definitely doesn't need to be represented on a stupid flag.

I wrote a joke about gay pride/shame, about 2 years ago, for a set I haven't performed yet, but have tested the specific joke on comedian friends in London, so, I'm going to have to get rid of it now, and take it as encouragement that great minds think alike, or that it was worth nicking.

No word of a lie but I worked for a rich Catholic who funded a conversion charity. He was so proud that the - male, obviously - leader of the charity had recruited loads of men to his conversion group. He was also proud that the leader had got his wife pregnant. About a year later my boss's donations had disappeared and the wife and baby were a single parent family. Leo was channelling the Big Yin on this set.
