In my opinion Leonard Cohen was very far from from "a broken man, with a broken heart speaking from his broken heart in his broken voice". In this clip he was just an older man quoting the introductory words of his song Let it be your Will that he regards as a prayer, prior to handing over to the Webb sisters to sing. Leonard Cohen since his emergence in the 1960s has always been a comptemplative, reflective singer and an excellent lyricist songwriter.

I was 17, my sister was 18 and she lifted the record player arm and placed it gently on a new vinyl recording of Leonard Cohen singing Suzanne. I was captured and discomforted. The part that drilled right through me was: "And Jesus was a sailor, when he walked upon the water. And he spent a long time watching From his lonely wooden tower And just when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him He said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them forsaken, almost human he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone." That was close to 60 years ago and ever since, as I navigate a particularly difficult self-inflicted trial, I think (and sometimes even smile) wondering is this what it takes to bring the Ground of Being into focus? Again and again in my journey Leonard Cohen has shone a piercing uncomfortable light into the fog of my life. Thank you Leonard!

Fortunate to attend the concert of LC in the Wang Center in Boston in '09. Actually, it was much much more than a concert. It felt like a beautiful religious ceremony. To say it was remarkable would be an incredibly weak attempt. I absolutely loved the night and LC and the Webb sisters along with everyone on the stage that night provide rich tones and color to the already profound words of an absolute master of pen to paper. I knew that I was fortunate to attend such a magical night. Every time I hear Leonard Cohen I am reminded of the fact. RIP Mr. Cohen. The voice doing the first ‘whoop’ at 5’03” is me. I didn’t think I’d be able to make the concert because I had just lost my best friend a few days before - I was with her when she died so everything was still very raw. We had great seats and so I forced myself to go; I’m so glad I did. Leonard was like an Old Testament prophet who came down from the mountain to address the people (the O2 arena is just a big tent anyway). This song was near the end of the show and I wept, right from the start to finish - and then I raised my arms and cheered to say ‘thank you’. Still one of the best concerts I have ever been to and just what I needed at that time in my life. I was so chuffed to hear my cheering when I first bought the show DVD; it just reminds me of how much the song meant and still means to me.

I cycled to Vienna from deep in Eastern Europe in the Summer of 2015 to escape the calamity of a cherished long-term relationship in its death throes. We arrived filthy and haggard. I so desperately wanted to bump into Leonard at a fountain, a square, a concert hall. I saw his face everywhere. I wanted to look him in the eye and thank him for the beautiful words he bestowed to us all throughout his career. A nice dream. Alas, all I found was a lobby with nine hundred windows and a tree where the doves go to die.

LEONARD COHEN IS SO MISSED. I was fortunate to heve seen several of hiis last EVENTS Leonard and the band was just amazing. One show at the Barclay Center Brooklyn at oints you could hear a pin drop nice be in an audience. as this the shows became spiritual for me. So at 73 years old. Makes you think at times and asks questions. What A guy!

I remember as a kid a vinyl of Leonard Cohen playing often in my parents house… now, every evening I play myself one of his songs to my unborn child
