Thank you Dr. Berg for having Ivor Cummins on your program, especially during this pandemic. Of all the voices I have listened to, Mr. Cummins is the most rational and data driven of them all - putting many physicians and epidemiologists to shame. When problems are complicated and laden with emotional baggage, sometimes it takes the logical and empirically oriented mind of a talented engineer to cut through all the noise and drama.

@@Drberg Dr. Berg, my hubby's CLL is no longer asymptomatic. A while ago we discussed that he would continue eating his 'healthy diet' but, if he ever developed symptoms, then he'd start healthy Keto before he agrees to start any chemo. Chemo was supposed to start immediately this week, but Dr agreed to give us *no more* than 6 weeks and he will redo bloodwork to see if a change in diet has worked. Tomorrow he's starting Keto and IF. Depends on how he feels, will IF x 5-8 hrs. He's not overweight so keto is strictly to help reduce his spleen and other inflammations going on in his body right now. I've tested this eating lifestyle. I believe in it. It worked to help me off 2 blood pressure meds. I'm not that naive that I don't know how cancers work, but I do believe that if anything natural was going to work, it would be Healthy Keto! In six weeks we'll let you know if *Healthy Keto means NO chemo!* 🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞 He's a believer in eating healthy... the FDA Food Pyramid and all that, but he also sees the changes in me, so he is willing to change way of eating. Thank you for that Dr. Berg! ❤❤❤

Ahhh so leptin resistance might be responsible for the perceived “set point” most people experience when losing weight. Some people just feel like they need a certain body fat percentage and feel the need to feed until that point, could it just be that they are trying to match fat cells to produce enough leptin to match the leptin resistance?

My apetite and hunger were always opposite of what it should be. When i was pregnant both times the last trimesters i felt completely off food. I had to force myself to eat since that's when the baby is supposed to grow. The baby was below average weight, 6lbs 4oz. Second baby 7lbs 4oz. It took me a month to get a normal apetite back. All women eat a lot one week before the period, i would be completely off food. How is it possible? Do i not produce ghrelin at all, or do i only produce leptin? How does it work?

Leptin is fascinating. I am quite lean but I do have experience with not having enough food to eat, and my body is sensitive to the point that I gain weight if I don't eat enough - a powerful survival mechanism. I drank some very powerful raw kefir once (drank too much in too short a window), and my immune system went nuts with the microbial die off. My metabolism crashed and my body essentially believed it was starving. I had to eat tons everyday to try to get my body to realise it was okay, and I was massively inflamed and puffy - I put on weight overnight. To say it was miserable is an understatement. This is when I learned that leptin is actually a cytokine, and that I activated my immune system so much that it threw off fat cell signaling and therefore my hormones. And probably did more than I know.

've been overweight my entire life. I am going on 60 years old. I have tried every diet out there. I started the Keto diet last January and was on it for 3 months. Just started the Carnivore diet about 3 weeks ago. I don't appear to have lost any weight yet, but I have lost fluid in my feet and ankles, so there's hope. I am NOT the type of person to blame others for my faults, however I've seen several videos like this by doctors putting the entirety of the blame on the individual for their obesity. I have spent my entire adulthood going on diet after diet--every new fad, every new diet out there I have tried to no avail, in fact in most cases I have gained the weight back and then some...we all know that there are so many added ingredients into our food by these manufacturers that aren't good for us. Almost ALL of the foods sold to us on the market today contain sugars, corn sweeteners, preservatives, flavor enhancers, GMO's, pasturized foods, "processed foods", artificial sweeteners, hormones, soy, etc. and yet they want to blame the fat for being fat. Now in some cases that is true, Americans on average do consume more than in many other countries and what you eat does matter, but when I literally can't buy ANYTHING in my local grocery store because of added sugar, salt, or hormone-altering chemicals and soy in LITERALLY everything, that is a problem! I literally have to get all my food from a local farmer's market or order it online and pay twice as much. In fact, that's why I decided to go full on Carnivore. Its easier mentally to just eat meat than it is to spend hours in the store reading the backs of bottles, cans, and boxes, many with false advertising in order to find out which ones I can eat and which I can't. Its much easier to just eat meat alone, it doesn't tax my memory and add more stress. I am willing to accept my share of the responsibility for my condition, but can we just expect the manufacturers and the FDA to accept theirs?
@MK-ih6wp Жыл бұрын
What did you think of carnivore diet? Some people seem to love it; I'm not one of them, but I hope you found an eating routine that works for you. I agree that our govt has failed when it comes to protecting us from greedy pharma & farma companies. Profits over people. People don't realize you can no longer get all the vitamins & minerals you need from the modern diet. Our soil is depleted, everything contains glyphosphate, Costco produce is like GMOs on steroids, fruits & veggies aren't what they use to be-- the sustaining, complex part is missing. Even our water has been ruined. Here in SoCal, tap water is cloudy & smells like chemicals. Our water is so hard that dishes & laundry require extra detergent, which then becomes difficult to rinse clean, unless you add vinegar. When I was a kid we used to drink water straight from the hose on hot summer days. The temperature was freezing, but it tasted DELICIOUS. And a cold shower felt REFRESHING! Today I come out of the shower feeling dirty than when I went in. Sorry for rambling. I wish you all the best with your weight loss. My mom is in the exact same position as you.

Question: I have read “The China Study”, which is an argument for eating a plant based diet. But it also seems to promote rice as a staple food in the absence of meat. How does this relate to a Keto diet which seems to lean away from consuming rice. These people who do consume rice as a staple food seem to be very small in size and based upon their appearance ‘healthier’ (of course,) than the obese.

The China study has been debated many times as being inaccurate. In terms of having a successful diet you can either go low-fat high( but not excessive) carbs, or high-fat low-carb( which for all intents is better) I recommend books like: eat dirt, dr josh axe; deep nutrition, Katherine shanahan?; the bulletproof diet, dave asprey; or the carnivore code( and podcast), Paul saladino; high intensity health podcast, mike metzel?(forgot last name)

Lovely to hear from this bold Irish researcher. Does he have answers as to why many women have night sweats & Hotflashes that endure for 18+yrs?

My doctor said the calcium score scan has high levels of radiation and did not recommend. Is this a concern?

Had one, and no, it isn't that dangerous at all. For one, it is very quick. Not even 4-5 minutes.

I will see your movie in the morning. Could you inform me of the top five blood test please? I take k2, potassium. Magnesium, Crestor, aspirin etc. and am smart keto. My glucose is back under 100, BP 110 50 50. And am a heart attack survivor and former t2 diabetic. I am getting labs soon for my next annual physical. Any info on the most important labs is appreciated. Oh, cholesterol 116 total hours 25 ldl 55 last year. Thank you for an outstanding interview. I watch both ivor and dr Berg all the time.

Hello Dr berg I wonder what your opinions are about Acai Berry and Camu Camu? I think that they are healthy fruits that fit a Ketogenic diet.

Yay for Keto! Yes, I do take supplements but the keto WOE is the reason for my good Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy level. (It was checked this month: 61.9.) My doctor didn't even comment on that. My triglycerides measured at 71. But she had the same lecture about "high" total cholesterol and tsk tsk about my refusing statins yet again.
