I remember Leroy talking about how producers in the early days in JA controlled everything, and ripped off everyone. When Tuff Gong got started, it was shocking to see how their emphasis was strictly on the Marley dynasty. Here was an opportunity to create a major record company in Jamaica,, and they blew it. This is so painful to hear, 30+ years down the line.

I knew I was not crazy when I was hearing this early this year. This is a black rye on the legacy of Bob Marley and not just Tuff Gong. Not sure why all the legends kids are not putting up a fight and boycotting this situation. I always say we do not stick together and this proves it. Mr. Sibbles should not be the only one speaking out about this. This is hurtful to the fullest and we wonder why slavery lasted that long. We were definitely part of keeping down our own people✌🏾
@brbbloke32232 жыл бұрын
Alas the Marley offspring are going along with this as they’re profiting from this situation. When you study them you can see where they’ve kinda betrayed their fathers legacy for commercial gain. Another situation is them going along with the removal of a Rastafarian community living on a plot of land set aside for that community by their father who strongly supported rasta culture & beliefs. A lot of nowadays rasta only about the locks as a hairstyle not the uplifting of oppressed black peoples.

Truth. Marley catalog was sold to Primary Wave for $50 Million. Primary Wave wanted to recoup. Tuff Gong & Primary Wave used their muscle to convince Sirius to abandon The Joint and replace it with Tuff Gong Radio---pretty much an All-Marley Channel. So all the Performance Royalties that used to go to all of reggae music now go exclusively to Tuff Gong/Marley Catalog/Marley Estate because it only plays Marley related music and hence that what earns the royalties. And unlike Spotify, Sirius XM performance royalties were real money. Cedella don't play. She took food off of every hungry reggae artists plate and piled it on to the Marley Mountain of Cash. Sirius could have kept both channels but for some reason it became a choice of one or the other. Not sure why. It became a Zero Sum Game. One winner and a lot of losers who are all now hurting from that loss of income.

I would like to see The Joint back on the Sirius stations that play on the car radios. It was moved up to channel 722 which is only available on the app or on the internet. There is a lot less airplay on those internet only/app stations. Most North American cars come with at least a 6 month trial of Sirius in their cars and most people get in the car and turn on the car radio. When The Joint was on a lower channel it played on Sirius in the cars which resulted in good royalties for a large variety of reggae artists including rock steady, reggae and dancehall and I would like to see The Joint on the car radio stations again so all reggae artists can eat some food again.

This not true. The Joint is still on Sirius XM and Tuff Gong radio does not only play Marley or its deriatives reggae

I subscribed to Sirius because of the diversity of The Joint. I was disappointed when they switched to Tuff Gong.
