Funny how Helena always plays the dark and mysterious characters. I guess that's what she's best at.

I loved the makeup/overall griminess of how the era was portrayed. really is realistic and isn't too romanticized at all, which is important for the theme of les miserables.

Jean looked AMAZING. I think it's so awesome that Anne was willing to have her hair cut on camera. I'd heard about that before seeing the movie, and that really scared me. It bothers me when people cry while getting their hair cut(forcefully), don't ask me why. I LOVED Helena and Sasha. They were absolutely hilarious looking. The make up was amazing.

Omg, I can't imagine how Hugh can be so dedicated ... Not drinking water for 36 hours, having hair hacked off, barefoot in the cold while others wear jackets, and finally having sore eyes! RESPECT.

Sasha Cohen & her were amazingly funny, contrasted so much with the darker themes of the other characters. Great work in the production of the film, no question about it.

I love Les Miserables for its music. I love how you can listen. Listen to the orchestra. Listen to the vocalists. Listen to the lyrics. From that, you can truly understand the themes of Les Miserables. And in this movie version, it is even better due to the live singing and those amazing actresses and actors singing them. It seems to allow for a new light, or in this case, darkness, to be shown in the score.

Amen! In fact, I read a few reviews of this movie, and some say it's not that great. But just remember: when this musical first came out, it got poor reviews. When Cameron Mackintosh called the ticket booth, the ticket person said they have never had a rush for tickets like this before. And the rest is history...

you're right. haters ARE going to hate. so it's a whole tone (2 semitones; Ab5 instead of Bb5; take your pick) down. the utter raw emotion AND stunning Broadway pipes that Hugh Jackman has is INCREDIBLE! just sit back and behold "a performance of a lifetime". and to those who can't because, "OMG, it's not the exact same note that Colm sang!", please, OH PLEASE, just don't watch the film and leave the rest of us alone. Jackman's note and Hathaway's clip from IDAD, though? PERFECTION.

Amazing makeup ... I'd be shocked if it didn't get an Academy Award nomination. Lisa Westcott is a name I think I'll remember and hear again in the near future. Costumes also look amazing. I don't know how the resisted the urge to be historically accurate, but I'm glad they did. The costumes have to compliment the story, and it looks like they do.

Sore eyes was the contact lenses... The contact lenses made him look like he had sore eyes. And having hair hacked off is part of the story, those cuts were make up, refining the detail of the character. They didn't actually slice half his head open when they cut his hair.
