I was always confused why fender sells wide range hum buckers today as wide range even though they aren’t really wide range, they aren’t the CuNiFe magnets anymore they are just wax coated AlNiCo, it’s just really frustrating to me and now you can get the CuNiFe ones from the custom shop which is nice, but I just wish they didn’t just put a regular hum bucker underneath a wide range plate and call it a wide range hum bucker
@alanthompson34934 жыл бұрын
I think these are standard humbucker-size Shawbuckers, not the larger Wide Range HB's. In any case, Fender is now making real CuNiFe WRHB pickups with the original construction, only for a couple of guitars so far. It was just announced at the NAMM show. They finally were able to source the correct magnets, which they will also be the distributor for.
@Djarra4 жыл бұрын

There are far better channels dedicated to that task than Trogly here... He uses wire-wool to clean his fretboards, something no self-respecting lutheir would ever countenance. All those shards of rust-gathering steel strands stuck under the frets... Not forgetting the dust, or miniscule scratches everywhere. . Troglly is cool for 'general information' mostly about Les Pauls', though he does have a good wealth of knowledge on most of the top brands. And is very good at spotting scams and fakes. But when it comes to guitar maintenance/repair, look elsewhere.

Thank you for including the both pickups on setting in the tone demo. It’s annoying as hell when players only go back and forth between the bridge and neck and pretend the option of using both doesn’t even exist. It’s even more annoying when they do that when demo-ing a guitar with two volume and two tone nobs, ignoring the tones that can be created by adjusting those when both pickups are on.

These are quite an upgrade from what I remember as the Telecaster Deluxe. I'm glad you demonstrated the differences in this video. Great demo tunes as well. Love it.
@Angus5764 жыл бұрын
I think you miss the point, Fender isn't trying to copy a Les Paul exactly. It's more of Fender's take on a Les Paul. All your complaints are about the differences you would like to see. Set neck and tilted head stock come with their own issues. How the controls and control plates are lined up is also pretty petty. Only thing I would like to see with this is a bound neck and block inlays. Being a Tele lover here I think this guitar looks great.

To put that large headstock in perspective with the times just watch a few old Partridge Family reruns. Wide ties and extremely large shirt and jacket collars were the norm. Elvis's costumes of the same period also sported the huge oversized collars to go with his 70's period long and wide side burns. Eyeglasses from the 70's were also oversized frames. Elvis, Elton John and John Denver all wore big 70's style eye wear. Perfectly in tune with the large wide headstock's of the day.

I think the FMT tele is a somewhat better mashup between the two since it has the set neck construction, mahogany body and neck, maple cap, and humbuckers. It's missing the dual volume and tone knobs as well as the selector up top that this one has. It is an import though, originally made in Korea and now in Indonesia, I think. Top it off with the Seymour Duncans Pearly Gates and 59 that it comes with and, I think, it adds up to quite a bargain. Nice vid.

The Tele FMT HH is pretty similar too, minus the tailpiece, the fact that it comes with Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and that it’s made in Korea. Easily one of my favorite guitars that I own.

I like the 'parallel universe' / 'pawn-shop' designs, whether that be from Fender, Gibson, PRS or any other manufacturer/hot-rodder. Especially this one. That is a beautiful Tele. And proves, yet again, that tonewoods themselves only marginally influence the voice of the guitar. . Here Fender have used the same tonewoods, traditionally used on the Les Paul, albeit in different proportions. But use their own 'wide-field' pickups. Thus, It sounds like a Telecaster. Perhaps the neck joint is partially responsible for that difference, but mostly it's down to those pickups and associated wiring. It isn't quite as 'snappy' as meple neck/fretboard Teles', with clearly a lot more bottom-end, again due to those pickkups. . Even the Fender equivalent 'T-o-M' bridge/tailpiece fails to instill any 'LP' type resonance/sustain to the voicing, but certainly looks far nicer than the original Telecaster bridge, but then I've never been a fan of those 'triple-barrel - ashtray' styled Tele bridges. What might have been a cool idea, would have been to fit a skinny 'Nashville' T-o-M bridge, with through-body string holes, setting the holes further back at a diagonal. That might have brought more sustain to the equation and would have looked quite spiffing. , Fundamentally it is down to one's ears. If you want a full LP sound... You go with decent P.A.F pickups and Gibson wiring. This Tele would sound more like a Les Paul, if fitted with the traditional Gibson humbuckers... But obviously, Fender can't do that... [roll eyes], but an owner can. . That said, I do like the sound of this Tele. It does have a warmer and fuller sound than its traditional stablemate. A combination of the 'WF' pups, assoc wiring and possibly the mahogany tonewoods. Of the vast range of Telecasters that have been on offer over the years, it is the 'Deluxe' Tele's with humbuckers, binding and exotic tops that I love the most. . I see this model fitting in with these other 'Deluxe' models, more than it being a knod to Gibson's traditional finish and sound. A Les Paul, *it is not,* but a fine Fender Telecaster 'Deluxe' *it most certainly is* in its own right.
@Rrgr52 жыл бұрын
I was thinking just that, that's definitely a Tele, would probably sounds like a Les Paul if you change the scale length, other than that, would still be closer to it, but as tele still.

It's hardly the first time the worlds have merged. Way back when there was Seymour Duncan and his "Tele-Gib". So this is Fender's version of a "Frankenstein guitar" parts of a Gibson Les Paul, Telecaster body and a stratocaster style neck/headstock, And the actually Fender Telecaster neck does not have that exact headstock, but Fender was sneaky and very clever with this guitar design, hopefully they will make one with the actually Telecaster headstock or ask Gibson to get in on this design and bring in a set in Gibson style neck with Gibson style headstock, nice Lenny Kravitz-Fly Away rendition there, sounded awesome man!! Thanks for making this video, I'm a Fender bassist but I do love seeing new Fender designs that resemble their competitor in Gibson, thanks for sharing!!

I love this guitar, you mention it's dark tones - I was watching this and doing some work and when you started to play some of the Tool I instantly looked up and said WTF? :)
