You have every right to pause. Yeah it’s annoying when some ignoramus does it but you actually know what you’re talking about and I’ve learned so much so please don’t stop pausing if you’re actually offering something of value, which you have been and are. Your technical analysis is invaluable!

Mariah was doing demos for artists when she was in high school and was a background singer for years for major artists before she got her record deal. She was also for years performing with her mom and her mothers friends who were some of the best underground musicians in New York City, staying up late and being in rehearsals with her mother in their living room. She touched on it in her memoir. Her mother and her mothers musician friends mentored Mariah and passed down their knowledge to her. You are very intuitive because Mariahs generosity with others onstage, including with her background singers, comes from having THOSE roots. I'm glad you could pick up on it.

I deeply appreciate you sharing more of her story. These tidbits are extremely useful and bring a lot more context.
@herbertico45063 жыл бұрын
@@LesageSinging Her knack for rhythm and good phrasing, as well as her improvisation skills, are also a result of the many musical influences she have (those musicians that she rehearse with are mostly jazz musicians, and she also listens to gospel, soul and a lot of R&B).

I love how much you pause honestly, you go really in depth and describe how she makes certain sounds rlly well. because of these, i've been getting more aware with what part of my throat area and my vowels to mimic certain sounds and i've already noticed such improvements. thank you so much for your analyses i'll make sure to be a member sometime in the future (im not rlly old enough for a job in my country, but i reaaally wanna learn how to sing properly).

Personally I'm fine with him pausing the video since he rewinds it back so it wouldn't appear as chunks but rather like continous. If anyone gets what I'm saying lol. Also it's kinda impressive to me how he still sees the big picture while pausing through the vid. Like when he pauses, he connects that certain part to the previous ones like what he did on the never too far vid. He was talking about the call-call-response and connects it to his previous comment about how the phrases are chopped and that he's anticipating what's gonna happen (if anyone gets what I'm saying again lol)

You made me binge watching your reaction to Mimi (nickname for Mariah)! I have always noticed her mic technique and how loud and powerful her voice in every register but people seem to see past that even few vocal coaches. People dont appreciate her mic technique, her clarity and loudness when belting that much, all they say was her whistle and range and high notes. They dont take notes on how she delivers her notes, super delicate and extremely hard. Good job!

There's a lot of talk about her voice type. Is she a soprano or a mezzo? What are your thoughts on this??
@LesageSinging2 жыл бұрын
voice classification doesn't have a lot of utility outside of classical music because it was created for casting calls/opera etc. I think it's safe to say she is a soprano whose voice has gotten more lush with age; which is common. more than any of these classifications, her technique is immaculate, her performances incredible, and her knowledge as a recording artist is top tier. that's why I try to get specific. She does SO much in every phrase.
