Saw them together at a pub in Stanford CA ... must have been 1977. We were in the parking lot (hitched out there) and Jerry pulled in in a beat up gray BMW. Said hi to him as he walked in, and he said hi back. In those days, that was enough to send us to hippie heaven. A great combo, to be sure!! Of course, that's on top of many Dead concerts between 1972 and 1995. I miss music like this, real American music.

Thank you Jerry! I just resigned from a job that was making my life full of stress that was hurting my health. Not sure whats next though. Jimmy Cliff's original version is so beautiful and so is all that he sings. But this rendition touches my heart. Music is healing. Open ears and open hearts. " but I know that my faith will lead me on". Thank you Jerry.

I posted a long post on one of the JGB band shows from 5-192 or 4-30-92 maybe. Perhaps even 4-29-92. But these 5 Garcia-Grisman shows were in the wake of the Rodney King riots of 1992. Another significant recollection of the 5 nights in a row electric sets was that finally....FINALLY Garcia busted out with Mission In The Rain for the first time of the five night run, on the FINAL night. Somewhere near the end of the first set. That was the "every hair standing up on end" electric moment of the night, for me anyway. There's some satisfaction in the San Francisco rain !!! Indeed......oh so yes indeed.

How greatly JG aged in the 20 years from ‘75-‘95 (age 33 to 53). In ‘75 he looked in his early 30s. In ‘95 he looked well beyond his early 50s. Such a special person lost too soon.
