Stop acting like people listen to vinyl because of the ”sound quality” its a very small subsection of people who care about that and can even tell the difference. People buy vinyl to support their favourite artists, to have a physical representation of something they like, because they are big and pretty/showcase the album art well, and because its a cool gimmick to play them, you get a big spinning disc when you play them, its a nice visual.

As a child, He slept in the same bed with other people, including adults. He couldn't see the big deal about it. But What was NOT a big deal in the past, is a big deal now. And If we look at it truly, there's nothing wrong with sharing your bed with a child, a family member, a friend, a pet and anyone for that matter. What's wrong is the sick mind of a predator. The disgusting desire and strong willingness of a rapist. They are the problem. I know for a fact that I can sleep in the same bed with someone (most especially a child) without getting sexual. This is why I give Jackson the benefit of doubt. And while you associate the word "bed" with "sex", many of us associate "bed" with "sleep". You'll be fooling yourself if you think, predators need a bed to abuse someone. Abuse can happen in many places. Both inside and outside. It can happen against the wall, at school, in the middle of a street, on a chair and even in a car. Et cetera... and sometimes people watch. But False accusation is also real. Everyone's innocent until proven guilty, including Michael Jackson.

No artist's passing has ever hit me like SOPHIE's. She isn't even an artist I'd been listening to for that long by that point; I hopped on the train late. First heard her stuff in 2018 but really really started to connect with it in 2019 - I distinctly recall being reduced to tears listening to Un-Insides one night on the bus, after having realised I was trans. Her passing put me totally out of commission for a couple of days at least. Beyond that profoundly personal connection people had to her music, and her general place of prominence in the community, I think part of what made SOPHIE's passing so awful was indeed just... to think about what could have been. She'd been active for years, produced a lot of things, had a massive impact on the culture, and there's a lot of loose tracks floating around... but her core discography is *tragically* short. She deserved a lot more. Also relating it to Fantano for a second, the track roundup where he talked about the then new (widespread) release of UNISIL... you could see the man's heart break as he got to that track. I think he spoke for us all there despite not saying anything in that moment.

The evidence against MJ is still weak. It was a massive, coordinated media attack on a man who... knew too much. The thing about the sleepovers makes a lot more sense when you consider the fact MJ was abused throughout his childhood, and effectively robbed of even having one. That's why he was so childish until the end. People acknowledge he got Neverland and Bubbles because he was desperately trying to live the childhood he never had, yet can't seem to also apply that logic to the sleepovers he had. Sure it's weird, but he had a fucked up childhood, or lack thereof, and it is not in itself proof of his guilt. I actually like CDs more than vinyls. I do wish they evolved a bit, though. I remember Super Audio CDs being somewhat of a thing for a little while, but then they faded away. I think it would be good for more powerful CDs to be the norm. (and also for CD cases to be more interesting, because I don't think a standard jewel case with a standard booklet is generally good package design)

@Luke The 80 minutes a CD can hold is usually enough for a normal album, but more is always good, especially for compilations, and for those artists that like to break the norms and release long albums. SACD could also support surround sound. Also...maybe my concern over the sound quality of normal CDs is just the producers/engineers mastering the digital albums poorly (it does seem to be annoyingly common). Either way though, it seems vinyl almost always has an edge in audio fidelity, and I wonder whether CDs could be improved to strive further towards what vinyl can do.

The clip you showed of MJ literally is him saying that the act of sleeping in bed with children is not in itself inherently abnormal/taboo and him attempting to make the argument that society has *created* that taboo because of the existence of pedophillia and people with bad intentions, but people who have no intentions of sexually coercing or harming a child shouldn't feel "weird" for [kids sleeping in their bed] even though they know that in their minds they would never do anything of that nature to a child. Western social restrictions has shunned platonic intimacy and compassion among the sexes, genders, ages, classes race, etc for centuries and it's incredibly destructive when engaging in honest conversations of legitimate abuse and our interactions with others. Our own taught biases actively work for us and against us at the same time and no one is trying to be aware that this paradox affects us on how we view the world and our critical thinking. MJ also goes on to say "Even if I did sleep in the bed, it's okay!" further making it clear that he knows of these social limitations, and in a sense respects the reason why people believe them, and never actually slept in the bed with a child that is not his own (or at least the kid and his family that accused him of molestation) but even if he did he has morals to not touch a kid inappropriately. You're intentionally misinterpreting his words for the sake of argument, an argument that has been dead for the past 14 years for anyone who has done their research when he was acquitted of all 14 charges brought up against him, a 10 yr FBI surveillance couldn't prove him of guilt, multiple raids of his homes by the LAPD came up with only one ART book that happened to have nudity sent to him by a fan and art with naked cherubs provided as evidence in court (which crumbled on its own weakness), all backed up by a $5 million dollar investigation funded by tax dollars that led to nowhere but MJ's innocence... but yeah, keep judging the guy on your own preconceived biases about him and not how we are quickly able to point fingers at deviant behaviors and immediately accuse them of being malicious when that's far from the case. The problem is that they’re not conclusive evidence of pedophilia, which is the claim being made. Last I checked you can’t be prosecuted for sleeping next to somebody. Nobody would think it was odd for a parent to sleep in the same bed as a child or for two children to share a bed, the issue is that Michael wasn’t a child and wasn’t related and that makes it odd by most people’s standards. However, if you consider it in the context of Michael being emotionally stunted and identifying more with children as his peers - its entirely possible he saw it as friends having a sleepover and not a sexual thing. There is nobody else that I can think of who lived such a sheltered life from a very young age - there is masses of evidence showing his emotional immaturity, if nothing else. Even his own friends and people that knew him describe him as “pure”, “innocent”, “naive” etc. The accusers and their families once described him this way. It stands to reason that someone with that much money, being so trusting and vulnerable, could be easily exploited by other people - especially if he had naively participated in behaviours that other people see as red flags. It’s patently obvious from the clip you showed that he had limited understanding of how his actions were perceived - even a pedophile knows that other people wouldn’t approve of an adult sleeping in the same bed as a child; they don’t go around advertising it because they know they’ll be investigated. You can believe what you want, but at the end of the day Michael’s defence does hold weight - you just have to be willing to recognise that he didn’t grow up under the same circumstances as other people and this likely lead to a warped understanding of social norms, arrested development and poor judgement.

CDs have a terrible shelf life compared to vinyl (even unused), the sound quality is worse and the artwork/physicality is less pleasing (unless you want it to be small, in which case, why not stick to your phone?).

okay, in my experience as someone who literally owns metric fucktonnes of CDs. CDs don't really have any defining characteristics sonically, and are technically rendered redundant by phones/ aux tech. but, as other mediums become less accessible (ie tapes for example, which are popular right now but face extinction due to manufacturing), then perhaps CDs could make a comeback in the DISTANT future.
