making music in Bitwig is an amazing experience unlike any other daw. A stunning combination of mixing capabilities, sound design and an elegant friendly interface

Pretty high in learning value. Partly because of those moments when Dave gets us to think about what might come up next. In a way, it sounds less planned than usual, which allows us to get through the thought process. The transition from Grid to FX chain is also pretty interesting. It does make it sound like the Grid affords more devices for note input (similar to keytrack… maybe even something like the pitch classes device?). And, of course, Dave would choose something with “laser” in the name!

Yes, because lasers.

The Grid is amazing and what finally pulled me from Ableton (vs learning Max). I've made all kinds of stuff in The Grid including a vinyl noise simulator with adjustable crackle, etc. Thank you for these videos! The presenter is super positive, funny (get used to these drums lol), and has a good voice for it.

You also wrote that you build a vinyl sim on Polarity's board. Show vinyl sim 😡.
@Emily_M813 жыл бұрын
@@LaymensLament oh I just saw this. one exists from Miles Deep that is more elegant than mine as far as modules used. Mine is on that preset uploading site whose name escapes me. I just forced a lot of randomized pops and noise using a bunch of comparison and logic modules modules. Look for Koldunya.

Really great walk through. I love that you compared the two methods, it really helps to approach from different perspectives. I learned a lot and really appreciate these bite size tutorials. Bitwig is excellent engineering. There is nothing that comes close.

Loved the little tips on how to use some modules I had no clue how to use. Is this a daily series or something because it totally should be. More people should know how brilliant this daw truly is.

Hey Nakul, we're glad you liked it! It's not exactly a daily series, but new episodes are released regularly: www.bitwig.com/en/community/learning/grid-lets-build.html

Thank you for doing this!! I tried to make a Beat Repeat style effect many months ago but gave up, it was a bit more tricky than I expected!

A tanh shaper would come in handy to keep control in some of those feedback paths. Great tutorial anyhow
@tomtabak4 жыл бұрын
amazing work, sounds great! I've actually had best results using Recorder module as the main engine of the repeater. Imo, the note control is best done with the pitch12 controller as you can make 12 radically different "presets" for your fx chain that are as predictable or as random as you like. Will share a few patches in the bitwig facebook groups in a month or so, once i'm done renovating my place.

Well I was a Ableton an Logic Pro X user just download Bitwig to discover the workflow of it and modulation capabilities Hope that the summing algorithm is better then Ableton live cause sound is also important to me... Keep up the good work ! Best regards Digital Angel

I am considering to buy Bitwig, however.. i would like to have the option of changing schemes or skins. Or atleast the option for a dark background in the arranger with white lines.

What if you wanted to record the MIDI notes into that track now to control the repeater effect? It’s already got the audio clips there. All I could think to do would be to record the notes into a separate instrument track with no device on it, and then route the notes into this hybrid track.
@WIN_KID4 жыл бұрын
what i did (not sure how proper of a method it is) was that i created a group track, folded the instrument into it, then threw the fx grid onto the group track folder, switched the group track from showing arrangements inside to showing notes with a right click, and there i had it, a separate track for fun repeating times. had to make sure to enable midi input on it in order to arm it as well

We really NEED an internal preset creator/browser for Grid! I was creating a Serum clone but it is totally USELESS I can't save my banks and send them to my collabs. Also we need the pollibility to DEACTIVATE PART OF THE CIRCUIT, as we do in Reaktor, because If I cant give 80% of the i5 processor to have a single instance of a Serum clone, because al the modules always run (and I don't want to deactivate modules in the inspetor...I have an LFO? I need a ON-OFF swith IN IT...and when it's off it must free my CPU). I love Grid but it's still really immature for some more advanced features, but I would really like to eliminate Reaktor and start developing all my devices with Grid only because it's interna!

Hello dear author. Let me ask you a question: is it possible to use GRID instead of the standard arpeggiator? Thanks for the answer.
@bitwig4 жыл бұрын
Well sure. As it happens, we covered how to build an arpeggiator in an earlier video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eobSamuobtyjrZY

Question, how do you export your song in bitwig, to a MP3 file?
@Artek6044 жыл бұрын
No such option at this time. But there's plenty of free mp3 conversion tools, like this one: file-converter.org/

audacity is what a lot of people use. it's a shame BW doesn't have a way to do this as standard though as it is an extra step. I guess they want to encourage lossless high quality output and force the user to go out of their way to transpose to another format; but yes, it can be annoying.

Is there not a simpler way to beat repeat on bitwig with a tool ?
@arstarkus3 жыл бұрын
Sellican - there are easier ways of making beat repeaters, I believe there are presets that use macros and delay devices, but this video shows the built in Grid environment and its capabilities

>>> Propaganda destroys greedy people. The program is anachronistic, old DOS style. It is very heavy on quad-core processors. It does not use the super fast memory of graphics cards. Prices from space. This means that the company has a small manager. I do not recommend this program to musicians ! I recommend clear thinking ! Greetings from Poland
