I swear we had an actual topic for today's podcast. That's not the direction it went though. You know those awkward smiling arguments you have in front of company? Yeah, let's have one of those.

I’m been home all alone this week studying for my masters and this literally made me laugh out loud - so relatable! It makes my heart happy watching you guys - it’s so obvious that despite whatever argument or irritation you guys might be facing with each other, at the root of it you love each other really. Thanks for making me smile today 💕

Have you ever thought about hiring an assistant? I know you guys already have a lot of people involved in your life and you mentioned the whole control aspect, which I absolutely relate to. But maybe if you had someone to help out with these things, like booking trips and making sure everything gets packed, scheduling meetings & stuff, helping you guys with time management, etc. it would help a little You guys are always CRAZY busy, and have so much going on ALL the time between Maass Squad Cares, Fathering Autism, PTA, Lipstick Mama, PPP, life in general, and much more. Asa sleeps MAYBE five hours every night (expect the weekends lol). Don't get me wrong, you guys are handling everything amazingly. I just don't want to see you guys get burnt out. Love you all so much!

Jasmine Ruckman I’ve wondered this same thing....if an assistant wouldn’t alleviate a lot of their burden, because they are busy 24/7
@Mumma2many
@Mumma2many 4 жыл бұрын
It would definitely help. But by the time they are actually able to release control and train, Isaiah will be gone and all that volunteerism is gone too. I can’t see them ever doing it because they are self proclaimed control freaks & life is changing.
@jasminewildman6391
@jasminewildman6391 4 жыл бұрын
@@Mumma2many I understand that. Maass Squad Cares is growing rapidly though. And they still have everything else. They still help at Abby's school too. PTA would be a major weight off Cilla's shoulders, no more concession stands and early meetings and stuff. But I've seen people get assistants for a lot less. The fact that they've done everything this far by themselves is absolutely amazing.

It’s not an apology. Hearing I’m sorry can make a world of difference. I know people who struggle to say those two words and it hurts. It makes you feel like they don’t care about you and so many other feelings. That’s why I always told my kids they need to say it when they have done something wrong and have done it myself when I made a mistake as a parent. It shows them that I respect them and care about them and their feelings.

This makes me more confident in my own romantic relationship. We have times where we say, “I love you, but right now I don’t like you.” And we apologize every time we fit but it’s a very, “I’m sorry for fighting” basic. We know the other doesn’t mean it and we typically make jokes about the fights later and it makes us feel better. Hashing things out is always healthy, blowing up is not.

loved it, sounds just like my husband and I. We bicker, my youngest daughter calls us the Bickerson's. lol He stresses, I always say, "Don't worry about it, it is not a problem.", He says, "yeah, nothing is a problem for you.", He says that sarcastically. But really, most things are not a problem unless you make them a problem. Everything will work out but maybe not the way you imagine it. Remember, you basically control nothing in this world, even when you think you are controlling things. Try to control the things that are controllable and other than that, let it go. I only learned this after many, many, many years of trying to control everything.

Yes, I'm learning. Trying not to stress things I have no control over. And handle unforseen circumstances with a little more grace. Embrace change, and learn to adapt to new situations while keeping an open positive mind. The older I get though the easier it is to be more aware of what consumes my energy.

Thank you for this!! I have been fighting with my partner for a few days now. We are a blended family of 6. 9 years ago we all lived under one roof, 2 are grown now and off on their own, 1 in college, 2 seniors in Highschool and lastly 1 sophomore. 4 boys 2 girls. One of our seniors is on the spectrum and has many health issues so sometimes life is VERY stressful!! It is nice to be reminded that everyone goes through things.

That’s how my boyfriend and I apologize We get mad, we give each other the silent treatment for about 5-10 minutes then one of us just comes up and hugs or snuggles the other person and that’s our apology There are many different love languages, there are also many different apology languages Just like you don’t always need to say the words “I love you” for someone to know that you love them, you don’t always say the words “I’m sorry” for someone to know that you’re sorry

Well done. Every couple has to find a way of working these little things out. My husband and I used to hold hands if we had to have a deep conversation. It just helped us remember that this person that we want to strangle is some one that we love, so even in the I dont like you moments we still showed love and respect. We have been married almost 20 years when he passed a few months ago.

I also want to say I’ve found your channel a few months ago and have binging and as someone who has worked with kids with special needs for 8 years you are the parents I wish all my clients had - caring , understanding , and the responsibility to help Abby experience “all the things” as you say! ASA is right... We can't multi task... Our brain can flip from one thing to another very quickly but not at the same time. Trips are very stressful at the best of times. It's easy to let the little things get in the way. Being sensitive and needing support is needed when your stressed. Be kind to yourselves. I really love how you communicate it really is an inspiration to me. The respect you have for each others strengths and weaknesses is empowering. I love how you recognize each other.
