Same! I bought MGS3 not long after I watched these.

I played MGS2 sometime around 2006... that was my first exposure to the series, however back then I didn't understand much English. (As you can tell, the part about English changed later on, and your gameplay/commentary played a major role in that.) Around 2008, I stumbled upon this "let's play" series somehow... still not understanding much of the language, I recognised the name of the game at least, so I clicked on the video out of curiosty. I was like: oh, they made a 3rd game as well? Not realising that by this time even the fourth installment was out... suffice to say, I didn't really know much about the gaming world or what the internet had to offer in general. Even KZbin itself was new to me. I began watching thru your let's plays, slowly getting more and more interested in the actual story of the game, while also realising that you're meant to be actually sneaking/thinking while playing these games. :D (I was 14 at the time, and all I played before were brainless shoot 'em ups like Fighting Force for the PS1 or Counter-Strike on the PC.) I gradually got better at understanding the language by listening to you and what was said in the game... and eventually decided to purchase the game myself. Not wanting anything more to be spoiled for me, I stopped watching at around the time Snake first meets EVA. I fell in love with MGS3 (played thru it like 13+ times)... and bought/played a lot of other games after that. I also revisited MGS2, this time getting past the Tanker section, because I finally understood what Otacon and the game was telling me to do! :DD Boy was I surprised by seeing the whole Plant chapter and what I missed out on before. I even bought a PSP afterwards on which I played every other MGS title I could... MGS1 (the PSP had perfect PSX emulation), MGS PO, PW... but like most, I didn't fancy the "Acid" games. Anyway... fast-forward circa 13 years and I'm sitting in the same room, writing a comment on the same video, on the same website, which have kickstarted me on this intellectual journey I'm still on, to become more than an urbanised redneck... which I otherwise would have most likely ended up being, were it not for your videos and the internet as a whole. Right now I'm gathering materials for a university presentation on language learning using "comprehensible input". (Prof. Stephen Krashen, in his presentation from the 80s, basically summarised what happened to me by sheer luck...) I'm going to become an English and History teacher if all goes well! So for what impact you've unknowingly made in my life, I'll forever be grateful to you, sir wc10k.

I was just blown away by this comment and I'm not sure any reply I can give would do it justice. Seeing any interaction on the videos is always great and every once in a while someone mentions how they were inspired, or maybe how certain videos helped get them through rough and awkward times in their lives. Stories like that always help to remind me that my little KZbin hobby was worth it and it's good inspiration to get back at it. Your comment is easily one of the best I've ever received. There are viewers all over the world and occasionally someone mentions how my videos helped them with their English, but I don't think anyone else has taken it to that degree. Get it? Degree? In all seriousness though, this comment made my day and I wish you the best of luck with your presentation and your exams and with all you aspire to do in this life. Judging by how you wrote your comment, you'll do fine. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know all of this. It really does mean a lot. Take care, and good luck!
@TheSolidlad3 жыл бұрын
@wc10k hahaha, cracked me up with the degree part, but the "Get it?" was sadly needed for it to tick :D I'm really glad you got to read my comment, and that it made your day. Sometimes I wonder... whose life have I affected with my excuse for content? (I also had an older channel, on which I made PSP related videos after getting that thing... it got deleted because of copystrikes, just when I started getting 50+ subs every day, which was huge for me at the time... circa 2012) I wish more people would let others know how they've influenced their life. I can't stress the importance of me learning english... it was the key which opened all the doors to most things I find meaningful today: MGS with it's grandiose story, and thru it... Starsailor (I'm sure u know why) Final Fantasy and Nobuo Uematsu's works... Anime... The whole PSP hacking scene with Coldbird's CFW for the handheld and the now dead forum, on which I've found friends with whom I played MGS PW online using Coldbird's plugin and servers (it made AD-HOC multiplayer titles basically online) and many, many more things. I have basically lived on the internet and used english every single day since stumbling upon your let's plays :) Hope u didn't mind the essay :D I got pretty good with PC stuff throughout the years, so although google is our friend when it comes to questions, feel free to hit me up on discord if u get stuck with an obscure problem, when u decide to do youtube again. (u can find the link on my about page)

@xXblessedsonXx When MGS3 Snake Eater was re-released as MGS3 Subsistence, it came with a second disc for Metal Gear Online. Online support is gone now so when they released the essential collection, MGO was not included. Hope that helps.

@0final I have some advice: -try to be sneaky and tranquilize everyone for the first part of the game(before the part where you get thrown off the bridge). -if you get spotted tranquilize the people who are near you.then run to a hiding spot -if you get spotted but not did not alert them to where they alert others just stay still -don't kill unless necessary

A HALO is a military term for a High Altitude jump where planes can safely drop off their troops without being detected by radar. I believe ALOT of prep has to be done before a HALO jump especially with frostbite and lack of oxygen as a present risk to jumpers

I always accidentally hit X instead of circle, too. So, that cracked me up! I've even done it several times in a row like that. ^_^ It's funny, because I remember when MOST games had the circle button or A button in the NES and SNES days as confirm, so it took me a long time to get used to the change when it happened in the first place!
@SairekCeareste16 жыл бұрын
What'd I liked about this game was that the more fights you got into, or the more damage you took, the more HP you gained. It made it easier for the players that got hit a lot. And those who don't get hit a lot, don't need the life you get anyways. =]

This was a really good game, I know some people disliked it but I thought it was really good, the story and Boss Battles were all good, the gameplay espcially hunting for food, I also liked how you could throw live snakes, spiders n scorpions at enemies, you could interrogate guards for information which was stupidly taken out of MGS4, in alot of ways 3 had more things you could so than in 4, 4 is still a fantastic game but this game was superior in many ways. MGS1 is still the best game.

Originally in PS3 there is an additional chip to emulator PS2. After a while Sony decided to cut cost, so they removed it from PS3 onwards. In Asia, only the oldest PS3 (2+ years) can play PS2 games.

I didn't know MGS had historical information in it. So I can claim I'm studying the Cold War while watching this video; if it gets into the impact the Third World had on it. I wonder if I'll lose points on a test if I claim the closest we ever got to a nuclear armageddon was when Metal Gear was activated and Solid Snake had to find and destroy it?
