i am so happy that i finally found other artist with ADHD! i really understand. I tend to jump from one sketch to the other never really finishing anything to a full detailed illustration cuz i tend to get very bored of my artwork quickly and it's close to impossible to sit through making it like couple hours at the time.

The story of the white canvas painted white is actually really fascinating, I remember the art history class where the teacher talked about it and it was a great view into an artist's thought process. A lot of the abstract and/or contemporary work can appear really puzzling at first, as the appeal is mostly in looking at how the piece was created (thought process, goal, etc) :)

I think having Lopi reading his stories in the background is an awesome idea. I love hearing you talk though. You feel like a friend. Just hearing about what you ate for breakfast and what your cats are up to would make me happy lol. I love you Audra xo

I'm really glad you've been dwelling into abstract art more, it seems to be going great with your vibe! This video was very relaxing, thank you for giving me some time to sit down, listen to you and watch some beautiful art being made. Very much appreciated. The idea of adding Lopi to your videos, whether it be through a podcast-type thing or him reading his stories, is great! Looking forward to that. I hope you're having a nice day. ♥️🌷

I saved this vid til I had a day off so I could settle down with it to work on a fan art and it did not disappoint. Audra's voice is so soothing and it really doesn't matter what she talks about, it always keeps me chill and comfortable while I work. As always, the art is beautiful.

I totally get what you mean when you mention needing to have it feel like a job. I am exactly the same with my ADHD. Even though I love making art, if there's not that perfect balance of internal and external pressure to do something, it's difficult for me to force myself to do it. Too much external pressure makes me procrastinate. Not enough external pressure puts the task in my peripheral instead of in my immediate attention space. If that makes sense.

I really enjoyed this little sketch and chat session. The part with missing your family during the pandemic hit hard, I'm working abroad and wasn't able to see my mum and when I was finally able to get on a plane she very suddenly died just a couple days before we would have met again. This pandemic burnt me out completely. hope you're all staying strong and hanging in there

Before you start recording do you adjust your camera settings to white? Hold a piece of paper infront of your camera so only the paper is visible and adjust your camera settings until the paper is truely white. No point in adjusting the white balance on your computer when the footage itself is too yellow/red/blue. Hope this helps :) Otherwise I really enjoy your chill sketchbook videos!

These videos of yours always help jumpstart me back into my own art and I find it comforting to hear relatable life stuff from a fellow artist. Oh no! I am sooooo sorry! Editing is often (not always) my least favorite part of the video making process. I am SO glad that you ended up making the video in the end. I've also been thinking about hiring someone to help with video editing (but I film sooooo much stuff that I dont know how to organize my footage in a way that someone else could handle). I Feel like i would always be scared that I'd send some random diary type clip... Anyway, the art is beautiful! Your art is always so inspiring to me and it was fun to work along with you during this video. Also YES, I love Notion. I've been using it for awhile and I really love it. I reccomend getting some photography lights to set up when you record. They are pretty inexpensive on amazon. I tried linking an example here but your comment section didn't like a link. Just look up photography lights, and you should be able to find some from $30-$80 for one or two of them. They have umbrellas that bounce the light so the light is softer but still bright. They really enhance your lighting in art videos.
@AudraAuclair3 жыл бұрын
I actually have 3 big lights already. Idk, maybe I need softboxes instead or maybe the lights need to be closer.
@Enocia3 жыл бұрын
@@AudraAuclair The reason I suggested the umbrella lights is it is diffused light, so it will brighten things up without being harsh. Same idea to the soft boxes.

Hey Audra! First of all this is really pretty and I loved watching it come to life! Secondly about editing, I hate that part myself, and the simplest, easiest and least problematic process I’ve found is doing EVERYTHING on my phone. If you’re interested get Splice (an editing app for mobile) where you can chop your mobile-recorded video up, record your voice over and add music all within it (I import music from Chillhop to use), export it to your camera roll and upload to KZbin via, well, the KZbin app 😂. I will never look back because recording on camera, editing in crappy software and exporting not only took hours and hours the whole process is just really clunky to me and I wanted to spend more time painting than editing. I probably sound like an advert but I’m just another artist that has also struggled with this side of things and if you try this out I hope it reduces some stress 🖤🖤

Hi Audra, I think you would like the Strathmore mixed media sketchbook (serie 500). I tried so many sketchbooks, because I paint with watercolor, gouache, acrylics, oils, pencils...and is the only sketchbook I really like. (Is Hot press, cotton paper).

Honestly, I don’t get the hype of the illo sketchbooks either. Apparently, the paper used to be good for watercolors? But now, it’s no different than any cheap crappy sketchbook, as far as water based media is concerned. I personally prefer the Moleskine Watercolor sketchbook, or the Strathmore Mixed Media sketchbook. Even the old Jane Davenport mixed media sketchbooks are great, if you can find them. Love the art and thanks for the new video! Hope all is well.

I just started a new sketchbook also by Handbook, it’s the Handbook co travelogue like normal sketchbook? Idk know what it’s called but it’s like not a watercolour one. Anyway, having never tried an illo sketchbook, but from having seen a lot of people use it, this sketchbook (it would really help if I knew what it was called) feels like a cross between the illo and watercolour sketchbook. It’s like sketch paper in the way that it takes graphite and ink and other dry media but the paint stays on top like it does on cellulose watercolour paper and doesn’t sink in that gross way that unsized paper does. It’s a cream colour paper like a moleskine and it’s similarly bound, but it has a slight tooth it rather than being completely smooth. I’ve only used watercolour on it, not gouache, but it takes it pretty nicely. Idk if that made any sense, but I’d highly recommend it
