WATERCOLOURS:
Schmincke Watercolours (the big set I use)

Daniel Smith Watercolours (another brand I'd recommend)
amzn.to/3tolYiW
GOUACHE:
Holbein Gouache (foreground)

Screentone Brand: Deleter
amzn.to/3pe8ItZ (here's a cloud version that I also have tried and like)
BRUSHES: Various synthetic watercolour brushes (pink ones aren't available anymore).
TAPE:
Tape Runner XL therm-o-web

PAPER:
300lb hot press Fabriano or Arches paper
You can usually find this in art stores sold as big sheets that you can cut down to size.
They are pricey but good for bigger pieces that require a lot of washes.

Tip for using tape: Before applying tape, stick it onto a piece of fabric , then strip it off. This way, it will still be sticky, but not strong enough to rip your paper up. Also it doesn't have to be fabric, just any object really. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. If so, good luck trying it out!

Gouache is my favorite medium. Ugh, it's so satisfying watching you paint with them. They way you use them is so different than the way I do, so its really refreshing seeing how you use them :) Also I am in love with the screen tone you used for her hair. I didn't realize there were screen tones in such cool patterns. Reminds me of an oil spill, i love the spirals!! I hope you have a lovely week :)

Audra this is a lovely piece. But you know what I really enjoyed about it? The white space in the middle of the painting. The confidence NOT to fill every part of the paper shows an assurance that you have in your own abilities. As I watched you develop the painting I was thinking "please don't do it, please don't do it!" And when you didn't do it, I was "I love you, Audra!" ;} Cheers, Andrew.

Wow, the tip with the eyes and teeth is really helpful. I like trying different colors for the whites of the eyes to change the mood of them, its fun to experiment. I like your attitude with this piece, it seems like you had a lot of fun with it and got really into it. I also love how the red outlines somewhat disappeared in places and then blended into the other colors, it adds such a nice depth and idk it just looks really cool.

Really love the bit at the end where you peeled up the tape and said fuck it, imma still paint cuz I'm a free spirit! I feel like I get so afraid of messing up my watercolors that it hinders my creativity. It's so nice to watch you turn chaos into something beautiful

Struggling through some mental/ physical things for a while and though I don't know you personally of course, seeing your return and watching you paint again has bathed my soul in a warm spring I didn't think id find in the hollow winter of myself I've been struggling in for the last year. I'm glad you're thriving again, even if it may only feel slight some days. It's brought my heart peace knowing someone I admire as a superior and teacher in art is smiling again, and I've found myself picking up my pencil and paint again too. Thank you.

It's INCREDIBLE to follow your creative process!!! Thank you so much for explaining it while you go and sharing your internal thoughts! The painting is absolutely GORGEOUS! As an art beginner it's fascinating to see your steps and right when I thought " oh amazing, she is adding green to the wolf!! So mind blowing! This must have such an intellectual reason, like, is the plant giving off light?! Or is it an artistic choice of explaining the wolf is overtaken by the flora around and is mutating???! SO AMAZING" and then you said you just felt like it, so here we go and I was double mind blown XD It is soooo refreshing to see an artist do whatever they want because they FEEL like it! Your heart tells you to do more green streaks? Heck yes,go for it!! We are way too surrounded by social media and what society deems pretty, it's the right time to just THRIVE as an artist and do whatever feels best! And to be honest: your art might be as incredible and mysterious and otherworldly because you just go with your gut. Thank you so much again for sharing this, I had an incredible time listening to you explaining your process! (If this painting ever ends up as a print, PLEASE let us know!!)

ART GOALS HOLY SHIT, THIS IS AMAZING. i feel that tho, the perfectionism bug ironically always makes the art far more stiff, a combo of one, mess shows action but 2, if you get so hung up on making one thing perfect you waste time you coulda spent just making more art to hone your skill instead. im glad you're working on embracing the mess part of the art process, all the experimentation!

Someone else might have mentioned it, but if you ever do have to paint over graphite lines, putting a layer of clean water over them first, and allowing it to fully dry, keeps them from blurring and muddying your colours! Also, I wanted to say how much confidence this video gave me. I also have a chaotic way of painting and I just had to film a 20+ hour art instructional course and was so worried it would annoy people to see my chaos and wild ways! But seeing an artist I respect with a similar technique reassured my anxieties

I wrote this comment before watching the whole video. Guess I was excited lol I was literally at work talking to a coworker about how you did the swirls. We thought you did some kind of really diluted pour painting, or water marbled your paper beforehand. Just thought I’d share that with you in case it’s something you’d ever like to try to get a similar effect. I know you’ve done pours before, but didn’t know if you’d tried water marbling. BTW I love that you’ve been on KZbin.
@bellacoffe615
@bellacoffe615 3 жыл бұрын
You probably have done this before, but a good underline is a very diluted acrylic gouache. It won’t pop out too much at all and it won’t wash away. If anything it leaves a nice tone underneath. Also this painting is absolutely stunning.

This turned out so great! 😍 I want to say the (as you called it) “weird colors” you added to the wolf by just doing what felt right to you in the moment worked perfectly. From what I see it looks a bit green so it looks like the color of the leaves are reflecting off the wolf, so it really helped tie it all together and feel like it’s in the same space. Hope that makes sense. Always follow your intuition and do what feels right! Amazing things happen! Also I definitely think I need to get some of that screentone, it was an awesome touch!
