I actually wasn't plannning to listen to this podcast, but I grew curious and boy am I glad I did. I loved it! I'm really looking forward to see what role each companion will have, and I like the new characters for now. I must say, thank you for giving lore context in your summary! Some details went right over my head (like Nadia being a liberated slave, for example, which is huge to understand the nature of their relationship), so it's nice to catch them here! I'll make sure to watch these as you make them, they really are helpful and entertaining, thank you :D

Theory: what if all of the high majestery families are descended from Elves?!. That’s why they only marry with other high born families to make sure that they are the strongest mages in Tavinter?!
@TresyX975 ай бұрын
If they were decended from elves they'd be elves. Tevinter enslaved elves and didn't intermarry with them

On the point about jumping into the chant: in that same dialogue with Sera you used, Solas tells her that despite not knowing the language, many elves can *feel* the language. (More or less, lol.) Maybe that’s why? Assuming Elio is elf-blooded, perhaps he is able to have an innate feel for the language? It’s also possible he has studied some of the magic of the ancient elves and has picked up bits and pieces along the way. It’s a lot of assumptions, but those two together might be the reason he jumps in so easily! :)

I really liked the forbidden love trope, it's so heart touching and romantic 🥺first opportunity to 💀 Solas in the game...I'm doing it. This egg-man acts to proud and 'You know nothing' & 'oh-I-am-so-smart'...and he messed up and hurt someone else...AGAIN! But it's really weird we will not meet Nadia and help her save Elio 😥😢I assumed this would be a side quest or even sth more important

As not English native speaker I really like your voice. That video format it's great. It's like AI summary but good and human.

Her voice is surprising soothing but not boring.

It really confused/bothered me that Nadia and Elio, Tevinter humans, both have American accents. At first I thought Nadia was an elf but then Elio, a magister, had the same accent. It may sound nit picky for some, but accents used to be very deliberate in Dragon Age and it seems that’s not the case anymore?
@Immortal_Inkwell5 ай бұрын
Yeah, Elio's voice annoyed me too. It's pretty much confirmed that Tevinter people are Indian/British so it threw me off the whole time. There are hints throughout that Nadia is a Dwarf, Elio says her mind is like stone and one of the guards refers to her as his 'little friend'. We know that Dwarves are slave in Tevinter too sometimes, though it's rare, so at least her accent is somewhat justifiable if she is a Dwarf.

@@Immortal_Inkwell I think Nadia is a human but I might be wrong. I also thought she was a Dwarf at first too.
@Immortal_Inkwell5 ай бұрын
@@cmdr.jabozerstorer3968 hard to know for sure, but I'd love if she was a Dwarf. The accents for Veilguard overall are off though, Emmerich is Nevarran but sounds British, Davrin is Dalish and sounds British, Bellara is Dalish and has a California accent, which is really jarring. It feels weird to give these regions distinct cultures and voices and then go against that for seemingly no reason
@Shadowpack955 ай бұрын
@@Immortal_Inkwell Tevinter is supposed to be Roman/Mediterranean. As it was based off the Roman Empire.
@cmdr.jabozerstorer39685 ай бұрын
@@Immortal_Inkwell The Dalish have been portrayed as British for a while, especially Welsh and Irish (not British in that case). Solas and Merrill have Welsh accents, Minaeve has an Irish one, as do some of the DA2 Dalish. Others are generally North American, which is why Bellara's is perfectly fine (Merrill in DA:O had an American accent before she had a Welsh one). City Elves have had North American accents though. As for Nevarra, one of the largest cities in Nevarra is Cumberland, which is a very British name (in fact, Cumberland is an area of northern England). So it very much feels like Nevarra is full of different accents and not just Cassandra's French-tinged one.

If it makes it easier for the other episodes, I'm not sure such an extensive recap is needed for these. I assume most people will be listening to the original before watching this.

I like the idea of the audio drama, Elio was cool, but I did not like Nadia much, she just didn't seem all that interesting to me. Maybe she will grow on me in the later episodes. The plot...hard to say for sure yet, we only saw one episode, but the twist with yet another ancient artefact and a ritual gone wrong seems boring. I expected something else really. But again, I try not to judge the whole story until I hear all of it.
