“Who is right and who is wrong depended on where you start measuring time” - wisest words in understanding history
@charminxtra226 Жыл бұрын
Not really. In these kinds of conflicts, both parties are wrong. Just because one side shot first doesn't make retaliation by the other side right, and even bringing up the history to try to find a starting point for someone to blame is nothing but trying to justify unjustifiable violence. It doesn't matter who shot first, or second or third or fourth. The only thing that matters is who's shooting next. It's like the bloods vs crips. It doesn't matter whether it started with a blood killing a crip or a crip killing a blood, and they both use their insistence that the other side started it as an illegitimate excuse to continue retaliating, and I've never met a third party or seen arguments online about which of them is right or wrong. At some point both sides need to just realize that their retaliations are really just causing the future violence against their own and are therefore hurting themselves. The only difference is if one side flat out refuses legitimate offers of peace from the other side and continues to take the offensive against another side that only takes the defensive.

You are right, let's look at who's dead, if a Palestinian in Gaza who's a member of the Hamas dies while going to set a missile he should not be counted like you count innocent casualties 3.. 6, and this is true, 6 of the children dead are dead due to one of the terror groups (Islamic Juhad Group) shooting missiles that fell short and hit Gazans!!! 4. As one who got into Gaza I can tell you, I've seen rocket launcher next to houses, schools, hospitals. the Hamas does not care about the life of Palestinians because they know you'll twist it into a non simetric causalities count Anyway, I appreciate your effort, but get you facts right

Yea. I keep looking at the 1947 map that has the outline of Israel, but says Palestine as clear as day. And then I go read about this Balfour agreement where the very white very racist at the time UN gave the land to Israel and I think I can see the nature of the problem. Palestine never agreed. They've never ceded this conquest. The west has armed Israel to keep them there. Now I gotta read what our strategic interest is. Looking at a map, I predict it's the suez canal. Does the suez become any less vital in a world not powered by oil? Does dragging the world into a big old fight distract it from getting off oil? Who benefits from that? Are any of those parties that would benefit, the ones funding hamas?

It’s not difficult. One country is civilized and allows its citizens to have a choice. The other is still stuck in medieval religion scared to death that Israel might be bad influence to their citizens. Because freedom is not in line with Islam. Going to music festivals is against Islam. So Israel must be destroyed. Why is it so difficult to say. Doing so without choosing a side and still not offending anyone was pretty close to impossible, but he did it. Massive respect!
@lorozeetzeyoter3 жыл бұрын
Actually I think he largely missed, and potentially offensively so. Full disclosure, I am an Israeli. The major point in my perspective is not who is the most powerful, because both sides strive for dominance in a way. Only one side is incredibly more successful at it (I would add that it is due to it's willingness to compromise and it's show of compassion and regard for human rights, but that is a different issue). The point should be the end of armed and violent conflict. And for that the question of proportionality in power is irrelevant, because even a weak actor can create incredible violent destruction. The real issue is who is the aggressor, or initiator of violence.

@TheRahimpur3 жыл бұрын
@@salasharif9919 not correct. Israel won in 1967 despite being heavily isolated, with no US aid. And that was the decisive victory which helped Israel stabilize it's power, and gain US full support as an independent reliable player in the cold war and the middle east. Besides, US is a highly aggressive and self-interested in the global arena. It wouldn't support an ally without some sort of gain. The US is paying much more to defend south Korea, or for NATO (which Israel is not a part of) than what it pays Israel in aid. Comes to say, Israel is a fully independent player, both in means and in interest.
@formulaic783 жыл бұрын
@@lorozeetzeyoter Nothing he said was offensive. You may disagree but it was not offensive. The major point to my mind is not about power but whether a just resolution has been found. And as long as the illegal settlements exist and are even expanded then it never will be. The first step should be taken by Israel to remove these settlements unilaterally. Then a just peace is achievable. I know, the counter to that is that Hamas will never accept the existence of an Israeli state. Yes, they will. Or at least the people who voted them into office through sheer desperation will accept it, once they see it is actually possible. And if this concession by the far mightier power at this stage in the conflict doesn't secure a reasonable response by the Palestinians then Israel will be able to take everything back and no one would bat an eye on the world stage. Because everyone could see that at least Israel had made a just concession to achieve a just solution.

Yes and no. It's great for an isolated incident such as this, but let me give a more 'accurate' depiction of what's going on. We'll stick with the teenager vs. four year old analogy. You were a middle child, now, you're the oldest child. Why? Because the four year old one day got his hands on his parent's gun and killed your older sister. The notion that Hamas only has one means of attacking Israel is naive. They have a track record of attacking Israel in ways that aren't protected by the Iron Dome, such as underground tunnels and suicide bombing runs into crowds. This is an isolated incident. To say that there is an absolute disparity of force is inaccurate. The reason Israel is forced to take these measures is because they know if the four year old gets their hand on a gun again, the four year old might become an only child. Let's be clear, we're somehow humanizing a terrorist organization for not having the same advanced weapon systems as Israel while vilifying Israel for retaliating. Hamas fired over 200 rockets. Israel conducted 20 airstrikes. They showed restraint.

@@th3doorMatt you really have no understanding of the topic, and your imagination is quite far reaching. But I'll try to use the same imagination; so, you are a homeowner, but aren't anymore because another homeowner 3 blocks away came with a gun, told you the house is now theirs, decided to give that home to someone who already had a home, but justified it by saying they aren't safe in their home because "we don't like them", then a third person 8 blocks away gave the new homeowners really advanced guns to protect themselves in what was formerly your house, and now the new homeowners decided they also want the cardboard box you live in around the corner because they found a fairytale written 4000 years ago telling them they own the whole street. So yeah!

One side imposes a harsh, brutal, vicious military occupation rife with human rights abuses, arbitrary detention, torture, extrajudicial killings, settler terror with impunity in blatant violation of international law, Fourth Geneva Convention, ICJ Advisory opinion in 2004, countless UN Security Council Resolutions while the other side exercises their right under international law for an armed struggle for self-determination. Is there a point where Isreal will fully withdraw from jerusalem? Because that is the price that either side need to pay in order for the other side to me satisfied.
