Wow, if there was an Oscar for TED talks, Lily would win it! It's an extremely complex situation in (Southern) Africa. Plenty of superstition and intimidation. The suffragettes who were involved in getting the right for women to vote were sometimes from affluent families or had an affluent husband. Only money could talk to make a change here, with influential people, or else they wipe the floor with you...

For the love of God. What kind of animals are those men? Not even a snake wouldn't sleep with his own child. why since women are more than men, we don't take charge? thank you so much! you are amazing person.

It was so very disturbing to re-visit Lily's talk a couple of years after seeing her in the flesh in Lilongwe. Her talk is so powerful, so personal, so upsetting. One can only hope that sense will prevail in the years to come................

Thank you Lily. So inspiring that hidden traumas were exposed here. We can never find a solution if we keep sweeping issues under the carpet. We need more exposure on these issues continually. Not much content on KZbin concerning such social injustices that are still ongoing in Malawi. God bless and protect Malawi 🇲🇼

Action Breaks Silence is a charity based in the UK that also do work in South Africa and India where gender based violence is huge problem. In addition to empowering young girls and women through self defense training, they conduct workshops and training with boys - because for the most part it is the boys who are doing the harming and/or growing up into men who are harming. Support this charity if you are able.

It says something about the men who do that and accept that it's done in those cultures where this is done. It doesn't say anything about men as much as it says something about that culture.
