Gosh, I thank God for my Mom. She spoke to us about our periods and menopause openly (unlike *her* mother, my grandmother). I have openly done the same with my daughter. I thank my mom for breaking that cycle of silence.

#1 tip for aging with grace for me is to stay true to myself. I am so used to reacting to situations , always in a hurry, now I try to slow down and stop and think about it - sometimes the best action is no action

Once you are in menopause you are in it for the rest of your life. This is a common misconception that you go through it and its over unfortunately it is not the symptoms may subside but you still have 0 female hormones after you have been without a period for 12 months. We are tough ladies!!!!

Loved this chat on menopause. I never dreamed that menopause would send me into a spin! I’m now 66, and still get those tropical moments. I am a lifetime exerciser, so felt menopause wouldn’t be an issue. Oh honey, wrong! I have gained at least 20 extra pounds on my 5’5” frame. Needless to say, I’m not a happy woman. I have been doing your work outs sporadically for a year and a half. I’m also doing yoga, and try to get out for walks as often as possible, weather permitting. I continue to plug along, journaling what sets my hot flashes off, supplements that seem to help, exercises that make me feel good. I plan on aging with grace! Thank you for being such an inspiration. 💖🙏🏻

Oh same here! I’ve excersized and stayed healthy my whole life. Menopause started. My body shape has changed massively. I don’t even recognise myself. I’m gutted. I seem to have lost the motivation to even try now and my excersize is sporadic now too. I actually said to my friend the other day, I need to find myself again. I actually feel lost if that makes sense. I have two adult children. One at university and one who’s severely disabled so I care for her. I seem to be floundering over everything! Clothes. I don’t know what to wear. I can’t seem to make decisions. My confidence for driving has diminished. I explained all this to my son so he understands. He’s very empathetic. I always apologise if I get abrupt with him. I hope you come out of it the other end! I guess we just need to try and figure out what helps!😊

One thing that has really helped me during this time is definitely mediating, exercising( with Schellea)❤) I stay away from any overly processed foods and sugar in all forms. I started bio identical hormones to keep my estrogen and progesterone levels in normal range. I really feel happy and healthy and I am so glad to be alive as my mum passed at 52, I’m 54 and living life to the fullest. I appreciate you being in this KZbin space. You are a blessing.

Honestly the worst thing ever. I didn't have hot flashes, night sweats. I bled so bad I thought I was dying. I bled for 14 months straight no break. My doctor said nothing to do for it except hysterectomy which I didn't want. So I bled but after that was over I was great. So this video is a great help for many😊

I went into early menopause literally overnight at 43yrs, due to chemotherapy for breast cancer. I literally had the 1st hot flush within weeks of starting it. This was 17 year's ago and I am now 60. Back then there was little or no support offered and i have struggled greatly with it. I began to doubt myself at work, and I still never get a full night's unbroken sleep, but have learned to live with this. I was fortunate to be able to retire last year at 59, as I still feel it affects my memory. One of the greatest losses for me was intimacy as this became so painful, and I feel this aspect is not really addressed. Since retirement I now have time to look after myself better so eat really well and daily exercise resulting in losing over a stone, and i do feel better. Thanks for talking openly about this, it will help many xxx

This video comes at a great time for me. I too am 56 and it's so cool that you are my age. I told my partner tonight that I am going to start doing your videos again starting tomorrow. I do have a hot flash here and there, but not many thankfully. I do have a super negative attitude and get irritated quickly. I am not tolerant of many people. I don't have many friends my age, so, that can be tough at times. However, I feel like exercising with you in your videos makes me feel much better. Thanks for so much positivity! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love that you said there is no one perfect answer to feeling better, losing weight, hot flashes, and feeling good. The issue is a personal one and whatever works for you is BEST for you! Addressing my gut health was the key for me. No more anxiety, very few hot flashes, better energy and mood, and so much better ability to deal with the stress in my life. I am 55 and in menopause. Of course I still exercise with you Schellea, and I keep learning daily! ❤❤❤

For me, finding the right hormone replacement regimen was the most important thing. Diet exercise positive thinking meant nothing without the right foundation in place, which for me was hormone replacement. Not all going through menopause have the same issues and knowing this And doing my own research was a game changer for me.

My advice is exercise regularly. When I was going through menopause I was doing yoga pretty regularly and I believe it made all the difference. If you don't do yoga then swimming or walking as long as you do it regularly I think helps tremendously. My hot flashes were always manageable fortunately.

Started menopause right in the midst of the pandemic and struggled mentally with everything but was extremely grateful to family and friends who understood and that I knew that I needed to get help, to exercise and workout and seek medical intervention with majority of my symptoms. The hot and cold flushes were making my life almost unbearable yet here I am. Enjoying your segments and your workouts and moving forward with life (with family and friends in tow). Thank you for also putting your survey out because after doing that I also did a heap of research, reading and listening to various podcasts. It is awesome to know that I am not alone in this journey and we need to educate everyone about menopause so there is more understanding, Thank you ❤

This is fabulous Shellea!!!! Menopause is different for every woman. My poor Mom had postpartum deppression after my brother was born in 1956. She was in and out of hospital and was given shock treatments and meds when she should have been treated with hormones!!!! I think that it is a tragedy that some woman have to suffer needlessly. Such a good subject to discuss. My Mom has been passed for years now and it breaks my heart that she was treated in that way. Things are much better for us now!!! I did your dumbell workout this morning!!! I loved it :*) TY I had heart palpitations, night sweats, insomnia, anxiety, deppresion, and just a awful menopause. I am on a low dose of hrt now and got my life back!!!! We are all very brave ladies!!!!

My mom didn’t talk about menopause and when she was much older I started menopause and asked her about her journey she said she didn’t remember lol! I had free-floating anxiety, heart palpitations, weight gain, hair loss, etc. NO doctor ever attributed it to menopause. Feeling better now, thank you very much. Barely a hot flash too, so I feel lucky to be in the 15%. I also feel WAY better since I stopped working out so hard. Hard workouts cause stress because we don’t have the estrogen to recover. Stress causes weight gain. I exercise moderately on a daily basis.

Don't know if this is appropriate to mention on this youtube channel watched Diary Of A CEO & his interview with Dr Mindy Peltz done 2 weeks ago. About menopause, intermittent fasting & why & how it heals the body. Generally about humanity & where we are heading. This guy is the most amazing interviewer & even he said of all his interviews this was the most important he's done due to the content. Even I in my early 70s had no idea how my menstrual cycle worked back then. It's an hour every person should listen to. If Shellea hasn't watched this guy she will also be blown away.

Hi…I am 78 years old and when I was 60, I went to a lecture by an OBGYN who talked about Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. It just made so much sense that for most of our life, mentally, physically and emotionally we have been supported by major hormones in our body. Then as we age, the internal factory starts to shut down. I made an appointment with this doctor, he gave me a blood test to check hormone levels and I then started on a cream using twice a day. The cream is made by a compounding pharmacy. Menopause is so much more than having hot flashes! When I started using the cream, I asked him”how long do an have to use this?” He said “how long do you want to feel fantastic?” Okay, I’m in….and I haven’t looked back….please go find a compounding pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist…best of luck to everyone going forward…❤️❤️❤️

It's great that women are talking about menopause. I'm 56 as well. We need to know but it's hard to find good information. For starters, you're not going crazy! Unfortunately doctors have very little training in menopause. I had to do alot of research myself. After suffering with hot flushes multiple times a day, brain fog, and insomnia among other symptoms, I started to use an Estrogen patch and an IUD for progesterone. Life changing! 🥳 I have energy again, you can see my eyes again now I can sleep and the hot flushes disappeared. Usually if you have a hormone deficiency like with your thyroid or you're diabetic, you take the hormone to replace it if you can, yet as women we're reluctant to. I found the KZbin channel of Menopause Taylor very helpful, she's an ob/gyn who teaches you about your body and menopause giving you all the information and says to do 'your menopause, your way'. My specialist recommended a book called, This changes Everything by Niki Bezzant which is very good. I had to see a specialist as my doctor wanted to take me off my hormones soon and I want to stay on them long term as I feel amazing and back to my old self. We've still got a lot of life to live ladies so find out what works for you and start to feel like you again - you're worth it. We can still be hot, just without the flushes. 🤣

I so agree with you!!!! I like Shelleas blog about menopause but I do not agree that hrt increases your risk of breast cancer. That is what scares women from not receiving much needed treatment!!!! That is exactly what happened with the WHI study that was flawed. Pre WHI women here in the US were routinely handed hormones for many many years. All of our experiences are different. I hope she changes her blog and the breast cancer scare :*(

Hello! Menopause is awful. I was medically induced into it through chemotherapy after a breast cancer diagnosis at 47. I would get so embarrassed when I had hot flashes in public. It felt like someone lit a furnace in me. Now all I hear about are the bio identical hormones that menopausal women should be taking and I can’t. You look amazing! Exercise is the fountain of youth ❤My mom just turned 100. I remember her crying a lot during her change and she got pregnant for me when she was 42 because she wasn’t having periods so she thought she was past the fertility years. I have very few 15 seconds flashes at times nothing noticeable, or unbearable and weight gain especially in the hated places which I have under control. Kudos to you. Started working out with you from the moment I came across your videos (late forties). I'm now 52, healthy, looking and feeling good. 🎉

A hysterectomy was recommended my my gynaecologist due to heavy and painful periods. After examining my ovaries, I was able to keep them. After having 4 children (2 of them are twins)I had no hesitation of saying no. I also have Multiple Sclerosis. I’m 52 now and was 43 when I had hot flushes, only 3within 2 months. I now only get mild sweats witch is every day. They don’t last long.

I highly recommend the work of Dr. Stacy Sims...she has simple, surprising information, all science-based. The big takeaways: strength training that will help you to eventually lift heavy; no long exercise periods of "moderate intensity," but instead: sprint or string hiit training, 20 min a few times/week; and small calorie deficit with no fasting. Look her up. Her research into hormones and performance is amazing.

I find now just turned 54, I have more anxiety. I suffered from anxiety for years got better than started again in menopause I am in menopause now 3 years this September. One symptom which is the worst is crying and head tension. I find if I get a good sleep I feel more energy and yoga and your exercises have been huge in my life. My naturopath is wanting to put me in hormonal natural creams not hormone replacement. Any thoughts on this thank you. It’s so nice to know we are not alone, as it can be scary at times

I’m 55, you look amazing! My mother never spoke about this also considering I’m Asian American. Anything of that nature is definitely taboo. My mother ballooned up though. I was afraid that I was going to become really obese like her & most women. Most people tend to think I’m in my late 20’s-mid 30’s. These hot flashes come daily. Unfortunately, my body temperature runs hot, so this makes it worse!

Hi, sounds crazy I know but I'm not sure if I am menopausal or not! I'm 58. I definitely have the mood swings, brain fog, tiredness, trouble sleeping at times. Following my breast cancer diagnosis back in 2016, which came as a huge shock, i was taken off the mini pill (which i had been taking to try to stop frequent headaches) and following surgery was put on Tomoxifen for 5 years which mimics the menopause, so had the hot flushes which would appear out of nowhere, (starting in my earlobes strangely enough!!), had the mood swings etc. I was told that once I came off the Tamoxifen I would probably then have a natural menopause (lucky me!!) but so far not to the same extent, i still have the mood swings, brain fog,etc but not so often now thank goodness but the main issue has been the lack of energy and weight gain which ive never had, hence why I've now started doing your workouts which im doing every morning. I love them and they are making a huge difference already, I'm feeling so much happier, healthier and sleeping better too. Thank you Schellea for all of your work in health and wellbeing, it means so much and I think is a life changer. (Apologies for the essay!!!). Thank you again. Julie

I guess I was/am so lucky. I am 68 yrs old now. I realized At age 48 I had not had a period for a few months. My doctor said that is pretty young to go through menopause. I definitely had hot flashes but that was it. I didn't have any other symptoms. My mother also went through menopause at about the same age and she also didn't have any other symptoms other than hot flashes. I wonder if that can be a genetic thing. My daughter is still too young so I guess I'll see if it can be passed on.

I remember my mom always faning herself with her blouse or skirts. I never asked her why she did that, and she never spoke about it to her 5 daughters! I'm 52 and suffering with the hot flashes daily, nightly!! I exercise with you daily, eat very little sweets, take certain supplements etc. NOTHING really helps. It's hard to grow old gracefully when you feel like you're melting all the time.

Didn't catch u live but really enjoyed your chat. In the UK we say Adidas exactly the same as I. I notice Aussies are a little Americanised with some words like the trouser/pants thing. But makes our brains figure it out doesn't it. I'm 65 now and really knew nothing about how my body and mind would feel with menopause. Only in 2019 a celebrity that I follow did lots of vlogs about it. So then I was thinking Omg I never knew. Still learning. But the body identical HRT that I thought sounded like I needed, our GPs thought otherwise. So nutriention has helped some way over about 15yrs. But thinking going down the private route if I decide I want it. Hair loss has been my big thing and no one said what it was, I had to do all my own research and figuring it out. Went to a hair clinic privately where they sent me for a blood test. Hypothyroidism could be causing my problem. But then there's so much more to address to ever get to feel normal again! It is great to spread the word and for women to know what's happening to their bodies. I took part in yr survey and was pleased to do so. Thanks for that opportunity. You are so well informed and lovely with it. All the best. Xxx

My mom came from the generation and family culture where you did not talk about personal, physical things, ever. So I don't recall her talking about what she experienced during menopause at all. As for myself, I was unfortunately thrown into early menopause due to high levels of chronic, long-term stress from a terrible marriage (I got out of it a few years ago). I started missing periods when I was only 43 and I just turned 46 and haven't had a period for 10 months, so I'm pretty much done with menopause already. I haven't experienced many unpleasant symptoms, thank God. It does make me feel quite "old" when I'm only in my mid-40's, but I certainly don't miss my periods lol.

💐@TheGeekMonster, Thank you for bringing up a most UNDERestimated contributor to feeling bad, including our actual body signs, immunity, resistance, hormonal things including menopause, and that contributor is long term stress such as being stuck in an unhappy marriage. Mine- which I got rid of, thank goodness - had the abusive, chaotic atmosphere that can make you feel & be sick! Best wishes~

I'm in CT and it Summer here, hot, sticky and humid....been going thru Menopause for 3 years. I am like your Mom....I fear getting old. I've always been small 5'4 107 1bs and now due to menopause I've gained the belly fat and crepy skin and I'm horrified!!! Its like looking in the mirror and its just not me anymore, plus the hotflashes are on an hourly basis and I sweat like crazy., wake up at night numerous times due to night sweats. I dont know what sleep is anymore. I refuse to take hormone pills because I've heard horror stories. Depression and frustration are a definitely from menopause. The only saving grace I have is that I dont look my age yet. Is there anyone out there that feels the same?

I stayed on birth control because of heavy bleeding. I had a small bleed each month while on it. I decided to stop it at aged 45. I never had another bleed! I actually think I went through the menopause while on the pill. I had some hot flashes after the pill stopped. Weight gain etc. I didn’t think for one minute I’d have gone through it like that. I was on the qlaira pill in the uk. Hope it all settles down for you soon.😊
