The personality of the person that gets cheated on is also very crucial. I'm not saying cheaters have an excuse for cheating because it's a terrible thing to do but there's always a larger picture to look at.

No cheater just wakes up and decides to cheat because they wanted to... unless they lack self confidence just as you said or they just aren't people who can respect a relationship
