I was camping once under a homemade Whelen tarp when I was roused from a sound sleep by the close-by sound of what I took to be a human baby crying, I shined my light to see a very small black bear, he was digging up, and eating a yellow jacket nest, all the while swatting at the enraged homeowners and crying most piteously! I’m excited to watch your rumble channel. It’s a shame KZbin has gotten so woke but it is what it is. Like you said all the gun channels have been dealing with the same thing. But with that said, Blackie your channel has been a great companion to me. I was new to Black Powder pistols when I started watching your channel and you have learned me a lot and I thank you. I was tickled to death when you commented on one of my pistols on a Black Powder group on Facebook that I had antiqued by watching your videos. I even watch your bush craft now also. From a very young age we were told to watch for snakes and watch for yellow jackets. If you didn't have your wood sense Blackie , you and I both know what could have happened. Glad it didn't. Guinea wasps can be pretty rough too. Glad it's cooling of a little bit for you (here too).

I'm proud to be one of (at the time that I checked, 4 hrs after this posted) the 285 followers on R. I wish that other content providers would also expand onto a free speech platform while still keeping a voice on the Big Brother platform. This one gives so many more people access and awareness than the other one (so far) but imposes too much of their restrictions for a lot of information to be responibly shared. I have to wonder if this platform will also demonitize or otherwise restrict content that mentions or promotes the other one. In any case, thank you for sharing the addition, that it is an expansion and not a migration. I look forward to other aspects from you there. I'm also curious if your collaborations with Bear will also find themselves shared there, or if other content might have dual marketing - for lack of a better term. Thank you for using more of what is out there to be able to share more of your experiences and knowledge with those of us who enjoy your videos. Thank you for your work doing these videos Blackie.

Checking for ground hornet nests and ant hives was one of the camp selection criteria I learned camping in Idaho with Boy Scouts. As a leader, you're trying to set an example for the kids, so you don't want to be the dumb one, but it happens now and then. Giving them the "here's one I learned today" talk is so much a part of scouting. Camp site selection is so much harder than people like to admit. It takes years of practice to get it down to easy habit, even for one ecosystem. There are so many things that can happen to a setting over the next half day or so. Too high? Wind or lightning. Too low? Flooding or cold spot. Near a canyon/arroyo? Possible flash flooding. Near a tall tree? Falling branches or high odds lightning strike (Arizona has lots of lightning). Downwind of the lake? Way too many bugs. Learned that one in Kansas. Too far from the group? Possible coyote harassment. Widomakers, wind tunnels, spider infested downed tree roots and so many other potential problems. In the end, you have to make compromises on risk and hazard levels or you only get one good spot per acre, which doesn't work with group camping. And every new ecosystem has new lessons.

Next upload, how to identify an underground yellow jacket nest lol. One time I was in the woods clearing leaves out of this camp with my foot and I must have accidently kicked over one of those murder hornets. Needless to say I almost got stung. The lesson was, always tread lightly in the woods.

Yay! Ground bees! Attitude has everything to do with it. My grandma was weeding her back flowerbed once and stepped right down onto a nest and crushed it. She had no clue. She didn't react, she just kept right on calmly weeding and moving slow. The yellow jackets just boiled out of the ground, but they had no idea what to attack because no threat was visible. She only noticed that there was "a lot of flies today" and finishes her weeding as usual. Didn't get stung once. Me and mom about shat when we walked back there and saw what was actually going on. Bees aren't dumb. They probably just wanted to hang out with ya Blackie.
