Hey Chris, I have family in Little River SC, not far from Charlie, they have sand.. and sand and more sand. Dig a few inches, water gushes out of the ground. Stone is not around, they use coquina or crushed seashells for base. My development is just over the border into NC, it has a major water problem when digging lots.

Put the big culvert in the creek and use the mud etc. to fill around it to grade. still need something like clay or pack-able water resistant material around the culvert but the dryest stuff you pulled out can bring the driveway level up so no slope down and up for the creek.

Chris I noticed watching many different channels that not everyone takes the mud out to get to a solid base, seems to me it would be the only way to ensure a solid road going forward without it failing. Some just throw geo fabric right over the mud then cover it with stone. Is there a certain amount of mud that you could skip digging it out (say only a few inches deep) and just throw the fabric down with stone and call it a day? On the other hand, I would think that if that area is saturated with water then the clay would eventually turn to moosh under the fabric and the road would get soft again? Interested in your thoughts on my synopsis?
