With me it was my dad - multiple times. He would either purposely start a fight with my mom and storm out or he would say he was going to the store or somewhere then just disappear. For 3 or 4 weeks no one would know if he was dead or alive. Then either he would come crawling home again or he would try to kill himself and a hospital somewhere in the country would call my mom as his next of kin. He would then be sent home again after he was out of the hospital. Yeah. Major abandonment issues here
