They gave L's half 25 episodes for 58 chapters and gave Near and Mello's half 11.5 episodes for 50 chapters. That's why things felt way more rushed after the memory loss arc.

This is probably, in my opinion, the best Misa episode in the show, except maybe the very first episodes when she is introduced. We see her actually think things through and come up with a great plan, her conversation and dynamic with Rem in general continues to provide her best moments, and she actually uses her looks and manipulates Higuchi into getting exactly what she wants with Rem's help. This is the best Misa ever gets.

Misa is actually pretty smart, but when you have light and L of course she would look dumb, but the thing that made her look stupid is her obsession with light and kira because she diminish herself and looses agency and is pretty realistic to be honest because people that do anything towards an obsession (it can be a love interest, drug addiction, etc...) looks not that smart to an outside view

I mean, there are different kinds of intelligence as well I would say. The recklessness, lack of agency, being told what to do most times, being totally obsessed, and her demeanor make her come off as dumb. This is especially so if you don’t even side with Light’s point of view, as she is siding with a psycho who doesn’t care about her. Maybe she’s just more annoying than anything else.

I do think it's telling that Misa immediately realizes that she can rely on Rem to know what she wants her to do after she has only one (that she remembers) conversation with her, and Rem actually does it. Rem is always incredibly confused by Misa's thought process but also supports her as much as she can.

When I first watched this show, I kept wondering how Light was not able to figure out he was Kira after he lost his memories of the death note. Now I realize that even though Light is very different then Kira, they still have one thing in common, they cannot accept that they are the bad guy. Light can’t accept that he could be a mass murder, and Kira, who knows he’s a murder, still cannot accept that his murdering is a bad thing. A big part of why Light could never be the one to stop himself is because he never accepts that he can be wrong. Which interesting, is a similar thought process that L has.

10:24 that scene, more than any other, I think, really gets to the heart of who Light is: "He's punishing people who never intended to kill, those who sincerely regretted their crimes, or people with excusable circumstances... the original Kira would have _never_ punished those kinds of people..." While I think it is irrefutable that Light is evil, his so called judgement _is_ based on a sincere moral ideology, that he abbided by to such a degree that _an outside observer could make the connection solely by comparing Original Kira's & Yotsuba Kira's killing patterns_ . The guy set his moral standards for others to live by, and he _followed those standards to a T_ . Still insane, still evil, but the dude is a True Believer in his cause, you gotta give him that.

Well, many episodes later Light's ideals illustrate how his plan will endeavour into functionality, like he states that progressively he will eliminate unproductive people. Second, from the beginning Light has killed people with situations that aren't severe; the guy who was accused of sexual harassment, Light kills him to scare the FBI agent despite not being actual evidence against him; the guy who made the announcement in the second episode. The manga gives him a more cold demeanor to prove how hostile, and unfair his actions are.

Misa is also in a cast consisting of the world's greatest detective and a criminal mastermind, so I think anyone will look dumb compared to them. That said, Misa is at least of average intelligence, more likely a step above average. The real dummy of the show is Matsuda.

I always enjoy discussing how “smart” Misa is. She seems stupid and an air head most of the season but honestly she’s close to Light and L in intelligence. The thing is it’s a case of necessity. She was great as the second Kira until she saw her goal of meeting Kira close to being made. It’s her own emotions that make her lower her guard and her sense of caution. Fantastic character foil to the main guys.

You’re probably further ahead than I am at this point but this episode really makes me believe that once Light gets his Death Note back he’s just going to seamlessly go back to being Kira without any resistance from his current personality. MISA didn’t even remember her past but once she had Rem there to do the killing for her she didn’t hesitate to have a guy killed if she thought it would help Light.

If I’m not mistaken, the reason why Misa didn’t get her memories back was because the Death Note page Rem used to touch her was Light’s, not Misa’s. If it were her own, she would’ve remembered. Correct me if I’m wrong.

When I was younger I used to not like Misa because I was in middle school and on my “girly girls are annoying and dumb” bullshit. Now that I’m an adult and rewatching death note Misa is one of my absolute favorite characters. She’s hilarious, she’s brilliant, and she brings so much to the series. Light does not deserve her ❤

Misa is clearly quite intelligent. The way she set things up to meet Light while not leaving clear fingerprint & surveillance video evidence at the start of her part of the story was really good. She's just WAY more reckless than L or Light...but sometimes that pays off, as it does here.

If you love L's voice, you could watch Battlestar Galactica in your personal time. I think that's the most regularly recurring live-action role I've seen that actor in. It's also a great show, seeing that you like mystery and suspense. It's sci-fi as hell, but I mean... _killer notebook._

I always love moments where just like after Misa shows the task force the recording, the camera cuts to L's eyes. He is thinking "Of course..." there are many instances like this, it's basically "I know this is your doing but I can't say it aloud without solid proof". The only real thing that keeps L from closing the case months ago is the supernatural element and his unfortunate lack of awareness of it. I truly think Light is way too over confident considering the fact if he didn't let slip certain details at the beginning, he would be mostly fine. He would have been a perfect Shimigami if it didn't like flying so close to the sun for the sport of it

a shinigami can interfere with regular stuff, but not with a direct death. since Rem can see Misa's lifespan as normal so she's not in the death note, and Misa's not in any direct attack? or accident? it's a little fuzzy for me since i haven't read the manga in probably 15 years, so i'm not clear why Jealous died saving her from a mugger/fan/whatever, but Rem .. no wait it's the act of killing the killer. i completely forgot for a second there. jealous died because he killed misa's killer, Rem is just helping out Misa here and not killing anybody herself

i know acting gets a bad rap about not being a "real job", but it's taxing and exhausting in other ways. don't get me wrong, physical jobs are just more relatable exhausting to everybody since that's been humanity's work force for hundreds of thousands of years. and i don't actually know any true actors/actresses, their limitations, what they go through. i've gone into the "hospitality industry" which is the college term for working with customers I think? There's this constant knowing game, at least in my cynical mind, where you play the part of the bellboy, the server, the concierge. to act congenial and sincere, not a salesman with ulterior motives. i do my job as honest as i can now, but it's still an act for 7-10 hours a day, to always be "on" is exhausting. i was heading to clock in one afternoon and a customer stopped me. i listened to him for 10 minutes about whatever it was, and was late to clock in and got in trouble. for a guy who wasn't my customer, i got in trouble, and i had to fake interest the whole time, because "not being rude" is in the job description. also he tipped her $30 on a $12 lunch because I was so good to him thinking i'd see part of it, she was in the kitchen playing on her phone because she doesn't want to interact with customers.

Having a niche kind of intelligence does not make you intelligent. A broken clock is right twice a day. And most of what Misa did wasn't something new that no one else thought of. They just didn't go through with it because of light being against it. She can be dangerous if you underestimate her. But that doesn't mean your wrong to think she's not that intelligent. Being a seductive and charismatic manipulative person. Isn't a rare or incredible thing when you compare it to the capabilites the other characters have. Some of them while also being Charismatic at the same time

Damn I’m reading the manga while watching it as well and it kinda sucks that they take out so much dialogue between misa and rem and they also take out a lot of their thought process like why Rem showed herself to Misa. I’m guessing they did it because if they included everything then the show would be a lot longer but it’s interesting being able to know what the characters are thinking in the manga Misa is very smart but they don’t really show her thoughts so she comes off dumb.
