So many artists use technique over skill, but Lewis is the opposite, this work is done with so much integrity, with the artist taking an abstraction to a genuine feeling of the landscape he experienced at the beginning. A joy to watch, enthralled from start to end, a beautiful piece of work.

Very kind thank you so much. I’ve been a bit slack on videos recently so must get back to it. Thanks for watching!

'They are marks that have survived the process' I find that a beautiful way to feel about a painting... very inspiring... I will remember that thought...

Thank you for doing this. I feel your demonstrations help tremendously in learning the process of being loose and less afraid.

I have watched many painting videos but I must say as an artist myself this is by far the best yet. Lewis I love the way you go about creating your work. Every stage could be a finished painting in itself. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching your technique. I use acrylics and have often wondered why some artists then go on and 're-paint' using oils on top. Now I know! I'm off to pick up some oils and will certainly have an explore. Thank you.

I love your work. An artists different brush strokes I find interesting. Your brush strokes are fast and slightly violent. I think your work shows a lot of power because of the way you paint. Thanks for sharing.

Really have been enjoying your videos. A couple of questions if you don't mind. Have you ever gone back a repainted a painting from the same photo. For example I think if you were to repaint this painting from 3 years ago it would look quite different looking at your more recent work. Also I notice you use a lot of wooden boards. Is this just 1/2 plywood? Thanks, I really enjoy watching you paint and the thoughts you share while doing so.
@LewisNobleArtist3 жыл бұрын
I haven't. These are all from paintings made outside, not from photos. I do go back to the same places from time to time though.

Do you varnish your paintings afterwards? What would you put over a painting like this one with acrylic underneath and oil paints on the top? Or do you not bother? BTW I love this painting of yours, my favourite so far.
@LewisNobleArtist3 жыл бұрын
I would only ever use an oil based varnish. Most of the time they don't need it anyway as the layers of oil medium do the job. Thanks for watching
@deniselini13663 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you’ll see this Lewis😄but what’s on the rag you’re swiping paint off with? Is it wet with the medium? The paint comes off so easily
@LewisNobleArtist3 жыл бұрын
Probably some white spirit. Thanks.
@suzannekinsey49793 жыл бұрын
so how long to dry with oil, normal time?
@LewisNobleArtist3 жыл бұрын
Lots of variables. How thick paint is applied, room temperature, if medium is used, some will extend drying time (stand oil) others will speed it up ( alkyd, thixotropic). So anywhere from overnight to months.
@lindachatfield38536 жыл бұрын
This is great! Thank you so much. What is in the pot? Do you have a medium mixed with your oil colour?
@LewisNobleArtist6 жыл бұрын
Linda Chatfield it’s an alkyd oil painting medium.
