A key feature of the UX Crafted that I forgot to mention: Lexus include membership of the Encore Platinum service, which lets you swap your UX for high-end Lexus vehicles (the LC, LS and LX are all included) several times within a three year period. There are other benefits, including valet parking and fuel discounts, too. But being able to sub into an LC convertible for a weekend is probably the best one… More info: www.chasingcars.com.au/news/car-industry/lexus-encore-platinum-club-launches-in-australia-with-car-on-demand-benefit/

That's a pretty great offer, rather than buying the big SUV, you can borrow it for the trip to the mountains.

I own a ux200 f sport, 2.0L naturally aspirated. I got it in November 2021 and am considering trading it in now in Feb 2022. It's a beautiful car. I have the olive green metallic colour with black leather interior and am OBSESSED with that green colour. It has all the bells and whistles, all features and is a solid, luxury car. As a "crossover" suv it just doesn't cut it. It's small. Very small. Let's be real, it's a hatchback. It handles beautifully but definitely much better in sports plus mode which gives you stiffened suspension and steering which is fun but power is a little underwhelming and not as responsive in eco mode. The CVT is smooth and faultless and in sports plus it really allows you to up those revs before transitioning. Safety features are second to none. Worst thing they did was add "storage space" under the boot due to run flats, and sacrifice boot space that you'd expect in an SUV. Road noise is an issue. The sound system is less than impressive for what you would expect from the top of the line package. The track pad works fine and is easy once you get used to it. My advice, if you want a luxury SUV, go the NX. If you want a small luxury hatch, go the UX. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful and quality car and this is my personal opinion. But I should've gone bigger if I wanted an SUV. This is a great little car and I do love it. And if you are fine with a small car, I would definitely recommend.

Another great review. I had a UX for a day when my LS was in for a service. I've driven both RX and NX, but found the UX as a package was more compelling than the other two SUVs. From a ride and handling perspective, Lexus nailed it. I drove the FWD non hybrid and found performance adequate, but in saying that I'd probably pay the extra to get the hybrid drive train.

They’re both a meh from me. The new NX is more competitive than this especially with the horrendous trackpad system. Same with the CX-5 which should be put out to pasture and built on the all new platform like the CX-30 is.

@@lexurious2227 lol that’s because they don’t make Toyotas feel too “premium” to avoid stepping on Lexus’ toes. Drive a Mazda CX-30 Astina back to back with this, with a more powerful engine and every option box of this car ticked, plus a BMW iDrive style infotainment system not this crappy trackpad. And oh what if I told you the whole thing, even with AWD optioned costs less than a base barebones UX200? And it has the highest ANCAP safety score (99%) of any car in the country. Of course a Toyota will feel cheap next to this because they can’t trip over theirselves. Mazda suffers no such issue.

Nice report Tom. When I went to ‘change’ from a Saab 9-5 Aero Estate I did consider the UX though I felt the bang for buck just wasn’t there when you compared like for like with the RAV4 and CX-5. For luxury the CX-5, dollar for dollar, matches it easily and the RAV4 has the space. As empty nesters we went with a Mazda CX-5 GT 2.5T as it feels so much like the Saab it was replacing both around town and when you put your foot down. White leather, hence the GT (dumb modelling from Mazda) with an interior LED upgrade and it feels like any (nearly) Eurolux for less than $45,000 drive away (at the time). But a big reason I discounted it was its CVT transmission. Lloyd

I have one of these right now as a loaner. This car drives like an economy car, fake leather, cheap plastic doors in the back, the engine drones, the cvt is okay though, and it in fact does rattle if you turn the stereo up anymore than halfway, with the BASE stereo. I'll have to respectfully disagree, this car is basic transportation with a Lexus badge, and feels lifeless

Thank you! People should drive a CX-30 Astina (based on the Mazda3 Astina sedan we have). Now that feels like a true luxury car - both in terms of the high level of standard equipment but not at the cost of lacking “premiumness” and feeling low-rent like how they make high specced Toyotas feel to avoid stepping on Lexus toes’

Lexus seems a bit lost in the market place. They have deleted the IS, GS (I think) and RC model lines. That leaves two/three SUVs, the Camry (sorry, I meant the ES) and the LS. There's not a lot there that looks that interesting (unless you win Tatslotto). My daughter cross-shopped Lexus UX and RC 350 with equivalent Mercedes-Benz models and chose an M-B C Class Coupé. Interestingly, she was NOT interested in BMW or Audi competition (they were "not cool" in the work car park). Having been with her for the test drives, I think she chose correctly.

I know it is not in the same size category and brand level. But I just finished watching Tom's Haval H6 review before this video, and that cost only $33k compare to this UX $55k. Again, i know I am comparing 2 different badge level here, but H6 interior doesn't 'look' like very far away or super cheap. I say 'look' because i haven't 'touch' the real car yet. What I try to say is saving $22k is a lot for ordinary people like me.
@jeeves6490
@jeeves6490 3 жыл бұрын

@@jeeves6490 yep I think you are right. Lexus/toyota used car market is so expensive. They hold value really well, especially in Australia. I tried to filter Lexus/toyota in Carsales' search under 40,000 kms odometer, the price is very close to new car price.
@User-cb4jm
@User-cb4jm 2 жыл бұрын
You’ll regret getting a Haval when the untested engines cack themselves. It will be years until they can even touch the newly minted reputation for Korean cars, let alone Japanese cars for reliability. You’re better off avoiding the Lexus markup and getting a few years old used Toyota or Mazda, maybe at a high trim level. Or even a Hyundai/Kia for better pricing, is better than risking it in the unknown like the Haval. It is cheap for the fact the brand has no consumer trust behind it so they have to undercut even Kia.
