I recently bought a 2023 version of the UX Hybrid and it features an updated infotainment system, they've removed the track pad (and added seat heating and cooling buttons in its place), added a larger and wider touchscreen (also moved the screen forward on the dash), removed the CD player. The knobs on the air con vents no longer lights up in the dark.

This is much like the Toyota Cross. It's for a specific group of people, small family, young couple, or older couple without kids and need ability to carry few things comfortably. It's an upgrade from a Toyota but not as expensive as a full Lexus SUV. I for one wouldn't mind either the Cross or the UX now that I don't need a bigger SUV, even the RAV 4 is too much for my uses. On the value side, fully loaded Cross is almost $35K and the US 200 F Sport is about $1000 more, so it would make more sense to get the Lexus than the Cross.

Only on the very worst roads and on the absolute windiest day it might feel a little too sporty, but it’s as quiet as an ultra-luxury Lexus ES in almost all other conditions. I would never describe it as “noisy” it’s typically very quiet & smooth, and the 2023 is a quantum leap forward from the old MC platform in every conceivable way. I’m glad Lexus finally realized, “just because it’s small doesn’t mean it should feel any less luxurious.” A lot of shoppers want a refined, small vehicle and they hit a home run with this. I will never want nor need anything bigger but I want a luxury car, and this delivers on that

They have gotten rid of the track pad which I like better than reaching for a touch screen. Paddle shifters are useless in a CVT. I turned off the fake engine sounds. Apple Car Play works well (wired connection). Sound system is good for music. Quiet interior. The car is pricer now than when I bought it. It is a tough choice for my next car, considering a Model Y. No range anxiety, Fill up in 3 minutes. The interior is a little tight, but I am mostly driving alone. The car value has been very good for what you get in my opinion. It is very reliable.

I test drove both UX and current gen Corolla hatchback precisely because they are based on the same TNGA-C platform despite huge diff in MSRP. I discovered that they are on different planets in terms of interior noise level especially @ highway speed and ride refinement(i suspect different springs & shocks used for UX). After these test drives, i looked for the reasons of that huge diff in noise level and found that aside from the engine bay insulation panels mentioned in this KZbin, the door & hatch sealings are more robust+elaborate on the UX than Corolla. The noise-absorbing materials inside the wheelwells also seem to be more heavy-duty on the UX. I can imagine more noise absorbing materials being used inside the UX bodyshell plus acoustic glass where i can't see from the outside. The RAV4 Hybrid i tried later has less difference in interior noise level but still inferior to the smaller UX. May be it takes upto a Toyota Venza to match the UX refinement level but then price of a comparably equipped Venza would be much higher than a UX....luckily, Venza offers more space than UX. I guess if u look closer at refinement details like i did, the notion of Lexus being just a Toyota with a nicer badge is purely b.s.
@codincoman90195 ай бұрын
To add to your details: the UX has Aluminium panels and other parts such as the lower arms, better tuning (ECU included) thus better handling/ride, more refined design, paint, far better inside materials ensuring a softer touch, a better comfort, far better soundproofing and sound systems, the infotainment with the touchpad and control buttons in the armrest is perfect for people favouring the driving experience. Lexus UX is worth the additional money vs. the Corolla Cross or C-HR. Whomever says that Lexus is just a badge more than a Toyota is dumb or lies. I have a 2019 Lexus UX 250h AWD F Sport with ZERO issues in 5 years (not even recalls). I fully recommend it (used, verified) vs. the updated UX that doesn't have anymore the touchpad, the control panel/buttons at the tip of the armrest, the black plastic fenders above the wheels. It is the champion of the subcompact luxury crossover segment because it is the most reliable and it has the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) in the segment.

The funny thing is, back in the 90's/00's Lexus had the best touchscreen nav/audio systems on the market, they were the world leaders in that area. Then they decided to ditch them in favour of a knob/trackpoint driven system in order to try and lure BMW drivers to the brand and it backfired spectacularly because BMW fans didn't want a Lexus, and it turned out Lexus fans didn't want a fake BMW iDrive in their car (shock). They eventually replaced it with the trackpad they use now but it's simply polishing a turd because they're too stubborn to admit that they made a mistake ditching touchscreens >.>

It is surprising the Toyota models are usually the ones with the latest technology and not Lexus. That's why one to be careful when buying more expensive car but sometimes for less value

The lexus Ux looks great, but looking at the crash test ratings for the 2019 model I would rather some more structural strength and rigidity. I mean the average legal speed on highways nowadays is 100km/hr or a bit higher in some cases and the crash test videos at 64km/hr show the entire front crumbled and the side impact at 50km/hr is also a shocker, The air bags won't save you in a crash from a vehicle going at 100km/hr plus you will have to "wright off" that vehicle and buy another one because it will be next to impossible to repair and have any faith in the repaired vehicle strength.

Thank you an informative video! Just a suggestion, the nature of the videos on this channel is not fast action videos, so pushing 60fps video only increases the network bandwidth and computing power required to view the video and it doesn't add to the quality of the video. Simple 1080P or 1440P would be better.

I've drove the 2023 F sport handling version quite often and its a nice car. The upgraded screen is a lot better than this one you are showing and also the controls. I like the seats in the F sport better also. Not really cheap though in price but lots of options included. Some say its too close to the NX in price but not really since to get the same features the NX is much higher. Talking about the F sport handling model. Quiet and nice to drive. I like the size but not trying to haul a lot of people, its not made for that. Some road noise but depends on the road. Overall the changes improve it more than a small amount from some earlier versions. Plus its made in Japan which I think overall builds better cars at that plant.

There is only a mind limit on the touchpad. I also had it for about 10 days with my UX, but you get used to it and become a reflex. Plus you don't use it often in reality, having the control panel at the tip of the armrest and the other physical controls.

The UX has a wheelbase about 3" shorter(103.9) than a Corolla(106.3) I predict that Lexus will drop this model given it's price point and competition. The UX Luxury model is 39,265 MSRP...that's A LOT for such a small vehicle. I built one and it was $45K~! WOW...and Ouch...
@damilolaakanni2 жыл бұрын
The next UX might be based on the Corolla Cross, not the CH-R. So it would be bigger than this. There's a not so large market for subcompact luxury crossovers, a segment that Genesis hasn't really entered yet and Infiniti left after their partnership with Mercedes fell through. Don't expect Lexus to make significant changes to the powertrain though.
