Then AGAIN… I ran back, I was able to catch the first tv break of overtime where backlund scored. I had his jersey on and it was epic haha we went 2-1 in the series before losing 3-1 Diehard leafs fan but if I’m in another city and my team ain’t playing I’m with the home crowd 😂

Ryan Reeves is a positive team player and a valuable teammate who appears to be giving his all every shift. He deserves compassion and empathy for his injury, not gleeful hand rubbing about LTIR and freed up cap space. That shit will all sort itself out in due course but for now he needs medical care and support from the team and the fans.

The Leafs have actually blown a 5-0 third period before (about 20 years ago against the St Louis Blues). When I saw the Blue Jackets were up 5-0 after 2 periods, something in the back of my head said "the Leafyest thing would be if Toronto came back to force overtime, only to lose 6-5 in overtime"...and then it actually happened.

I don’t know about all you guys but when I have the flu I can barely make it to the bathroom no longer play a frign nhl game lol even under the weather a little bit at that level of play and ya your done. So I give them a lot of credit for not giving up. And it don’t matter , it may be the blue jackets, but they are all still pros!! And the leafs have probably been the hottest team in the whole league the last at month anyway.

@@chrisorrell3066 it really shows how bad the jackets are this year. but they also have the potential to be great at the same time. They have quite a few times this year got some good leads but then let it go with bad play. Quite honestly if the jackets could get it together for the entire game and close out games they have the lead I think they would be in the PO hunt. Leafs also have the potential to be great but we see time and time again game gets away from them and they have to try and claw back to tie to push to OT for the 1 point, where at the skill level the team does have they should be having BOS VGK type standings, but cause of the horrible play they can very easy miss the PO due to a tie break because they can't close out games in regulation.

Just bought my Dad tickets for the game against Dallas Feb 7th for Christmas, it will be the first game we have gone to in 10 years and we will be moving out of Ontario in the spring, the only reason we can go is thanks to a lovely family selling a pair of their season tickets to me for face price (thank you so much!!), im praying they play well so he can have a great memory. Going to these games means so much to people, fans have every right to boo whenever they want.

Great LFR, Steve! I totally agree with you on the Mulligan. They have earned it and that comeback was incredible. It was interesting tonight outside of the game itself to be seeing all of the Twitter posts in the Twitter verse talking at the end of the 2nd period about firing Sheldon Keefe or getting rid of Shanahan or breaking up the core four because they’re all lousy etc. etc. and I just love that those people had to eat their words when the boys came back and tied the game and scored five unanswered goals. As you point out in your LFR, the team’s record of late has been extraordinary, and it is hardly a record that would cause anyone to be fired or traded away. I’ve been a Leaf my whole life, I’m 66 years old, and I saw them win the cup many times and I just don’t get this new fan base- they just give up completely and hurl abuse and get all defeated anytime the team is behind by a goal. It’s so tedious.

But seriously, I love this team. It doesn’t matter what happens, doesn’t matter what’s going on, the leafs never give up on a game. They fight for every point. Even today, 5-0 going into the third, sick, injuries up the back end, and a goalie who isn’t very good as of late, and I never gave up hope that they weren’t going to pull a miracle out of their butts to tie it up, and that hope was well founded. This team has grit and determination, and every team in the league should fear us, because if they don’t lock the game down like it’s nuclear war survival bunker buried under Fort Knox, if they give us a modicum of a chance to come back, the leafs will take it. I look forward to seeing what this team can do when it’s healthy.

Yeah that's the thought I've been having. Grew up with Sundin as Captain and they would fold by the end of first period accepting their fate. This team has a terrifying mental leverage which is exactly what you said. If you don't have this thing buried by more than 5 goals going into the third, then you still don't have this game sealed. If you're getting tired, they'll go for blood. If this is 5-0 deficit is what they can fight off when they're as sick as it sounds like they are, this team when its fully healthy could be monstrous to face.

I can relate to the idea wanting an in-person Leafs game experience to be memorable. My first, and only, visit to Scotiabank the Leafs got wrecked by Buffalo a few years back. Was it a fun and enjoyable experience? For sure, but despite the fact they were doing well that season, It was definitely a bummer to see them do poorly.

Also, a similar trend that has been going on for years with this team, losing to non-contenders, will catch up with them at the end of the season when points in the standings will make a huge difference. Let's take four teams in particular : Pittsburgh, Chicago, Buffalo and Columbus. Leafs are a combined 0-3-2 , two points out of a possible 10. those teams are currently 44-62-12. Leafs will make it to the post-season, but won't win their division. They may win the first round again, but inevitably will falter in the second round. Take it to the bank.

I was hoping Keefe wouldn't pull Samsonov after the 1st and especially 2nd period. He's got to deal with it and let him battle his own problems in the game. No coddling! Despite the OT loss, he played well in the 3rd to keep the buds alive. Gotta keep playing him, no matter what. Fingers crossed that Jones plays well on tomorrow against Pens.

The only unpredictable part of this was the last goal. When the Leafs scored at the beginning of the 3rd, I was half expecting the Jackets to lose in regulation. That's how awful they've played in thirds this year.

I didnt see the leafs playing bad at all...what I did see was samsnov letting in 4 shit very saveable goals out of 6. Also saw the leafs having extremely high scoring chances and not being able to score until the 3rd. But thats hockey sometimes you get the bouces. Sometimes you dont.
