aw man. I feel you. I used to walk circles around the soccer field until recess was over because I didn't have anyone else to talk to or hang out with when I was 11. I didn't like recess because I felt like it was just a time to feel humiliated that I didn't have anyone to hang out with while everyone else did? Anyway.. I hope you feel beautiful and wanted, now. :) These kinds of songs really do help a lot of us during tough times.

Gratefully I've always had plenty of friends, but that sense of awkwardness never goes away. I've always found that songs like this, rather than making you feel maudlin, give comfort. I can style it out but I'm still a weirdo.

@@seang3019 Right!?!? I guess could probably say I was part of the "in crowd" growing up: cheerleader, top of my class - the stereotypical US high school popular girl. Superficially at least. But deep down I never felt like I really had anything in common with my "friends." At heart I was a Sci-Fi/Fantasy nerd who always felt "separate" and "other" and would've rather been home with my nose in a book than at parties. And this song spoke to my soul. I think everyone can identify with this song from time to time. (Or at least those of us who don't lack self-awareness.)

I know! Also remember back in the 90's there were only a few radio stations in everybody's area so when a popular song came out everyone knew about it and it would have a life span of weeks or months. Now there's a billion artists, there's no 1 big smash hit that the world is all grooving to, everyone is listening to different sh*t. We used to have a shared culture around music and movies, now most music sucks and movies are ass, everything has politics shoehorned into it and its ruined everything. lol Sorry for my rant but reminiscing over the 90's gets me heated.

Because of the subject matter this song reminds me of "HOW SOON IS NOW?" by THE SMITHS, a hugely popular 80's alternative rock band. It is important to read lyrics so you understand the words being sung are "son and heir" and not "sun and air".....big difference. Also PLEASE listen to some DEPECHE MODE, one of the 80's most successful bands, who write deep emotional songs. Start with their songs "PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE" and "PERSONAL JESUS", their most popular and most covered song. Some of my other favorite DM songs are "Never Let Me Down Again", "Wrong", "Home", "Blasphemous Rumors", "In Your Room" ... hell, they are all good. Not always feel good songs, but they make you feel lots of emotions. The official video for "Wrong" (car in reverse) will blow your mind.

It really moves me every time I see someone as young as you are been blown away, amazed, by a song like this one, where lyrics, musical composition and voice are working perfectly together. You reminded me of myself. Your reaction is the same I had when it came out and I heard it for the first time. This is a timeless song that every generation can relate to it. Radiohead is a band (in my understanding) in which every song they create is constructed towards a purpose in which their lyrics, music, and voice drive you to a certain mood, so you get their message. Their songs are built with an intention to move you, to make you feel. Therefore, all they do is very well thought. At least, that's my appreciation. Go thru that list someone gave you and add 'Just' and 'Rabbit in your headlights' to it. By the way, I'm new here and I loved your reaction video. Very well done, my friend. Keep it going. ❣️

Growing up in the late 80s and 90s and turning 18 by 2000 was great. Great TV, music, and culture. Growing up with yard darts, croquet, bikes,bows an arrows, back alley rock fights, BB gun wars, slingshot wars, playing pickle with my older brothers and always getting nailed in the shoulder, evolving in technology from land lines and beepers to basically a computer in your hand is fucking lunatic to think about. And music holy shit… music drove our lives. A music video debuted was a fucking masterpiece. And especially a Micheal fucking Jackson video presentation. That shit was like bringing the red carpet debut right to your house and was really special and had everyone talking in school

This song really hits a lot of emotions when you feel for someone who don't feel the same about you and they call you a creep and a weirdo and the think they are special and better than you when no one is perfect

90's band like this lead to the emo revolution ❤ everything was able to be sung or screamed out as someone wrote the music to your feelings and so you just connected
@markjones127
@markjones127 Жыл бұрын
Emo first originated in the hardcore punk scene in the mid 80's with Rite of Spring often cited as the first emo band, then bands such as Embrace and Fugazi coming after, so I always see the later emo revolution which you're probably referring to as the second wave of emo, not to downgrade it, I just think the two separate waves were somewhat different but equally important.

✨💖✨Art is emotion distilled, experience made tangible. You got hit with a full dose of the angst a person feels when they are so very drawn to someone, but the individual they desire seems so tantalizingly out of reach. And the truly heartbreaking aspect of it is, it’s the feelings of being out of step with everyone around, being weird/a creep, that keeps this person from reaching out to this special someone. I was in my 20s when this song came out, and I’m in my 60s now. Could be why you never heard this before.

‘Creep’ hits everyone, I have yet to see anyone not react to this song. You’re feeling it that’s all that matters. We’ve all had love for someone and they don’t love you the same way…man you are awesome. You are a real music dude so open to everything.
