Vincent, unless you already knew this (why wouldn't you?), LG has not released their final firmware for the C8 yet. There's currently an engineering sample that they are working on that supposedly makes it like the 4.10.15 (US) firmware, but with the near black dithering fix. It hasn't been publicly released yet. Their most recently released firmware really did not fix much of anything, and still left everyone that updated beyond 4.10.15 with crushed blacks.

The best thing about this TV bisaide 2.1 chip is dithering in the near black area. This would prevent poor gradients and macro blocking in the near dark scenes, especially on one content that is compressed, which is everything from streaming Netflix, Amazon, downloaded from uTorrent,over the air brodocoasting and cable TV,hell even the games have 4,2,0 compression and dinamic upscaling😀 Very good news,on my Pany plasma dithering play the big part in the near black macrobloking and improve gradients a lot! These is really visible when I compare side by side Pany plasma VT60 and C7 Oled the difference is night and day in representation dark scenes,but wear the Oled shines is in represention the more dark and richer colour and the highlights. Not to mention that Oled is 3 or 4 times brighter than plasma when playing SDR and that difference only go up when it comes to HDR material, remaining that threw black even better than plasma. Looking forward to see this in live😀 Keep up the good work LG!

I bought a new HDMi 2.1 cable for this television and the new generation of games console. The hdmi 2.1 is passing into the back of the PS VR box which then passes a HDMI through to the telly. Will this affect the quality of content on my TV ? Because the HDMi 2.1 cable isn't passing through from the console direct to the TV. Hey Vince, Vince here. Can you think of any reason why BFI isn't implemented at a hz that would compliment 24p content? I find it hard to believe TVs of this caliber aren't geared towards watching blu-rays / 4k blu-rays, and yet BFI isn't a factor of 24. My Plasma today can handle 24p content at both 48hz and 96hz giving me a true 24fps picture with minimal flicker. Wouldn't it make sense to have BFI also run at 96hz to preserve the 24fps source? Wouldn't BFI at 60hz kind of be like 3:2 pulldown? (probably a bad example but you know what i mean)

Another welldone review Vincent! LGs C9 will always be best value for money with features. However, I'm predicting The Best HDTVtest 2019 TV shootout winner is....my moneys on the Panasonic GZ2000 when it comes to totaling up points in every aspect/criteria of performance as it sits in between LG and Sony as usually pulls strengths from both sides. In my opinion, if you're a movie buff and want the best cinematic experience with superb colour accuracy on how the director intended you to watch (this year with DV), Panasonic is KING that's obvious as it's been a HDTVtest overall best TV winner over the past couple of years!!

@tyree07194 жыл бұрын
@ProseColored Glasses It's doesn't work I had to return it and get a Samsung Q80R. I disabled it but the screen was still so dim. I did a little research and found out that is just the unfortunate nature of OLED TVs. Anything with a bright screen has higher risk of causing burn in so instead of fixing the burn in issue they would rather just dramatically decrease the brightness. Now don't get me wrong it is the perfect movie TV but for those who want to watch anything with a bright screen or static logos on that screen it's not good.

Great video. What would you recommend between the C9 and the Samsung Q950r? I use it mainly for my Xbox one X for gaming , Blu rays and Ultra HD discs? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for this review, Vincent! Interesting question here: does it makes sense to disable subpixel boosting for night watching mode? After all, you won't lose any brightness.

Exellent job on your OLED 65C9 videos. I was wondering am I wasting my time trying to hook up a Channel Master DVR+ to my 65C9 for TV recording I'm on Antenna & Wireless it was hooked to my last older 50" Panasonic Smart TV?

I returned my B8 recently because I couldn't stand the posterization in games after using my old Sony with smooth gradation for 5 years
