Or maybe C7... I wonder how much improvement they made in 2 years, especially on the near black front... one year seems very small given this review.

I was thinking the same thing and then realized that he is comparing the TV against the C8 throughout the review anyway. I doubt a vs would help on a purchasing decision.

Want to see the main difference between OLED & QLED? Go to 15:38. The contrast on the OLED is so obvious that the perception of better HDR on the QLED is minimal at best. Once again another amazing review from the only objective TV reviewer on the net. At least as far as i can see.

harlemknights1 There are many adjustments to the picture you can make. After reading your comments I checked a scene that had a dark colored jacket in a dark chair and everything was visible on the C9. Keep tweaking the picture till you are happy. Now a whole year after. I got one of these some months back before they got replaced by cx. Loving it for the most pat but have major issues with dolby vision content on netflix. The problem if course is greyish blacks in dark scenes on DV content. So far the only thing I found that helps to elevate most of it is to turn brightness down to 45. Have seen or experiences this problem, and if so, have you managed to get a good work around?

Vincent, unless you already knew this (why wouldn't you?), LG has not released their final firmware for the C8 yet. There's currently an engineering sample that they are working on that supposedly makes it like the 4.10.15 (US) firmware, but with the near black dithering fix. It hasn't been publicly released yet. Their most recently released firmware really did not fix much of anything, and still left everyone that updated beyond 4.10.15 with crushed blacks.

The best thing about this TV bisaide 2.1 chip is dithering in the near black area. This would prevent poor gradients and macro blocking in the near dark scenes, especially on one content that is compressed, which is everything from streaming Netflix, Amazon, downloaded from uTorrent, over the air brodocoasting and cable TV,hell even the games have 4,2,0 compression and dinamic upscaling😀 Very good news,on my Pany plasma dithering play the big part in the near black macrobloking and improve gradients a lot! These is really visible when I compare side by side Pany plasma VT60 and C7 Oled the difference is night and day in representation dark scenes, but wear the Oled shines is in represention the more dark and richer colour and the highlights. Not to mention that Oled is 3 or 4 times brighter than plasma when playing SDR and that difference only go up when it comes to HDR material, remaining that threw black even better than plasma. Looking forward to see this in live😀 Keep up the good work LG!

I'm buying this TV. It's decided. I wondered if you could help with a query though. I have a PS4 pro with PSVR. I bought a new HDMi 2.1 cable for this television and the new generation of games console. The hdmi 2.1 is passing into the back of the PS VR box which then passes a HDMI through to the telly. Will this affect the quality of content on my TV ? Because the HDMi 2.1 cable isn't passing through from the console direct to the TV. Is it worth buying 2 hdmi 2.1 cables to ensure I get the benefits of HDMI 2.1 with my C9 and PS5/ Xbox Series X

I'm a gamer and I'm extremely worried about Burn In and retentions. Since I have a keen eye and awareness and I notice every minor fault on a tv all the time. I have the KS8500 but the panel was bad and I received a replacement panel with even worse Backlight Bleeding, flashlight and light marks. Now the Samsung company offer (extorting) me to buy the Q90R at 60% off. Getting around 60% of my old TV value back. However my heart tells me not to pay them a single dime and go with C9 at Aug- September when it arrives. What do you think?

ROFL I love your deadpan joke style. It’s great. In the future would you consider adding a brief section dedicated to gaming with PS4 Pro & Xbox One X, and a high end gaming PC with HDMI out running to the TV?

He might just be worry about the burn in issue because games usually have static images which can not be turn off.

Oled is great for watching movies but for gaming you may have to be more careful. However, it is also a panel lottery. Some people just are unlucky to get panels which get burn in more easily.

Hey Vince, Vince here. Can you think of any reason why BFI isn't implemented at a hz that would compliment 24p content? I find it hard to believe TVs of this caliber aren't geared towards watching blu-rays / 4k blu-rays, and yet BFI isn't a factor of 24. My Plasma today can handle 24p content at both 48hz and 96hz giving me a true 24fps picture with minimal flicker. Wouldn't it make sense to have BFI also run at 96hz to preserve the 24fps source? Wouldn't BFI at 60hz kind of be like 3:2 pulldown? (probably a bad example but you know what i mean)

Another welldone review Vincent! LGs C9 will always be best value for money with features. However, I'm predicting The Best HDTVtest 2019 TV shootout winner is....my moneys on the Panasonic GZ2000 when it comes to totaling up points in every aspect/criteria of performance as it sits in between LG and Sony as usually pulls strengths from both sides. In my opinion, if you're a movie buff and want the best cinematic experience with superb colour accuracy on how the director intended you to watch (this year with DV), Panasonic is KING that's obvious as it's been a HDTVtest overall best TV winner over the past couple of years!!

I just bought the C9 but the ABL is killing me while watching any sports the picture gets so dim even with the OLED light on 100. I've been doing research on this subject, would u recommend I disable ASBL from within the service menu ? When I search for the reviews on Amazon people say it work but I'm not sure if safe ?

@ProseColored Glasses It's doesn't work I had to return it and get a Samsung Q80R. I disabled it but the screen was still so dim. I did a little research and found out that is just the unfortunate nature of OLED TVs. Anything with a bright screen has higher risk of causing burn in so instead of fixing the burn in issue they would rather just dramatically decrease the brightness. Now don't get me wrong it is the perfect movie TV but for those who want to watch anything with a bright screen or static logos on that screen it's not good.
