Six young fashion lovers including young Stacey Dooley swap shopping for the factories and backstreet workshops of India to learn how the clothes they wear are manufactured.
Six young fashion lovers swap shopping for the factories and backstreet workshops of India to learn how the clothes they wear are manufactured. They travel to West Delhi to live and work alongside the migrant tailors of a backstreet workshop, entering a world where the workers can spend up to 15 hours a day at their sewing machines, earn as little as 15p a garment and must then sleep on the factory floor next to their fellow workers and their machines.

Richard can’t get it through his privileged head that no one has ever given this man anything . Not even a place to sleep. Richard is clearly someone that can’t get out of his own head to even begin to understand the struggles others less fortunate may live with. These people don’t have parents that will take care of them or a nice home to go lay down at night. His inability to understand is indicative of someone that clearly doesn’t care about anything other than himself.

Richard's views on poverty aggravated me so much. Poor people can't just get up one day and decide to not be poor. He is quite clearly xenophobic and borderline racist. His smug face would get smashed in if he wasn't with the camera crew.

Absolutely agree. He doesn't realize that even though he worked hard to be where he's at today, his starting position that his parents afforded him, was a crucial contributing factor in what his life has become. I'm genuinely hoping that the talk he had with that worker, may have enlightened him enough to see the world in the many shades it is, because it isn't black and white like he wants it to be, but sadly, I want be getting my hopes up too high for him.

It's not bad to question why someone may be in the predicaments they are, but if you don't actually care about the answer to those questions or finding them, then be honest and just admit that it gives you an excuse to be a jerk to people who you perceive as beneath you 😒. Glad to see Richard finally swallowed his pride and have that conversation with one of the workers. Just not sure if it was enough to make a permanent impact on how he views people in these circumstances. I do hope it is though

Hate this type stories bc never know what's real & the over dramatic. My Mom was seamstress&worked in sweat shop she got paid by piece...it was very hard work making multiple bundles of garments a day. She learned to sew by working in factories as child. Sometimes I went with her & made the cloth belts in order to save her time. On the days I went with her she could do more bundles then on the days I didnt. She was so good a women zealous of how fast she worked burnt my Mom with an Iron so she could get my Mom bundles hoping she slow her down but my Mom worked even with her burn. My Mom was an amazing women. The spoiled people in this documentary just upsets me. There arrogance & self entitlement disturbing.

The purchasers are to blame for wanting everything at a bargain price. Just by demanding a low price causes poverty elsewhere. The poor souls who work day to day to provide for thier families deserve better. Too much money made through the supply chain and the demands of the importers. Greed is a horrible thing!
@L3r4k

Right. How many times have you paid over and above the price in a store? Or even donated money? Not exchanged, but significant amounts? India's problem is manifold. Corrupt government is one of several. Government officials robbed them all the time, high taxes, high bureaucracy, high inflation. How can an Indian accumulate enough wealth, in a timely manner, to buy machinery and undertake business, when much of his income is stolen, leaving little to survive? And you, pea brain, come to say that the problem is the consumers.

This isn't what I was expecting, thought it would be a real place. This looks staged, and they probably only worked for an hour. The guy richard having tantrums is what makes this so fake. The dude trips out, apologises, does it again, and says he is sorry. They have to have a jackass, and then a person to act good. A real sweatshop isn't like this. I think they purposefully took footage of the worst part of town they could find. Harald Baldr, has a youtube channel that shows a real sweatshop making knock off shoes, and that was real. Bald and bankrupt travels around with Harald in india, and a few other places, and they make good video's, and not all of india looks like what they filmed. God bless everyone.
