The woman in this video, both the museum worker and acting as the grandmother, is Katherine Siva Saubel.

Thanks for identifying her ... I've read her native plants book Temalpakh and met her once in Warner Springs 45 years after this film was made ... but would not have known that was her. Very much appreciate you sharing that information.

Does anyone know if this is supposed to be "Cahuilla" of the Palm Springs Agua Calliente area?
@kinfolk5710 жыл бұрын
The Cahuilla of the Santa Rosa Mountains, at the very least, which would include the Agua Caliente band as well. I first saw this video on a loop at the Desert Museum in Palm Springs, and was happy to find it here online.

Back in the day the cahuilla people's territory streched from nearly San diego out to the desert and all the way up by San Bernardino, I grew up a mile off of the Cahuilla reservation up in the mountains in a town called Anza. my best friends are one of the origional families from the mountain. Cahuilla rez they're awesome people

Thank you for sharing. I am learning more about Kahuia Native Americans from Cherry Valley to San Timoteo Canyon. There are recreations of the Cahuila cave and the structure made from cedar bark. How did the Kahuia know which plants to eat? I am very interested in learning more. I have gone to library and plan on going to Malki Museum in Cabazon.

A spirit woman came and told them what they could use and not use according to the cahuia story.

This is on Cook Islands. Wow I have never heard of it. DO you speak the main language Rarotongan Māori. I looked it up named after Captain Cook in 1773. Very interesting. So I am guessing you are Tahiitan descent. I love history. Just curious.

Daniel 5247 Well honestly hardly any body has 100 % almost on any race at some point the mix with European or Arab or something. You could hear her naming some of her artefacts in Spanish. Lots of those latinos , Hispanic or whatever they call themselves; they just plane the descendants of that mixing and its not like they were born in Europe or Asia... In reality hispanics is a new breed of the americas, Americans if you will but not necessarily white or native nor black full blood
