Something occurred to me while watching this video. Brandon Herrera is one of the closest modern day examples of how the founding fathers were: Business owners, entrepreneurs, men who didn’t seek power but reluctantly took up the fight for liberty. Texas is lucky to have him, wish we had more men like that in my native state of Arizona.

Hearing all this reminds me of reading about old American congressmen from back when America really had a spine to it. Late 1800s, early 1900s, the type of congressmen who'd casually show up in a newspaper cause someone tried to shoot em only to have the congressman take em down. This man's got my vote.

@@MR-nl8xr I mean the main one I'd point to would be someone like Cassius Marcellus Clay, total badass and ambassador to Russia in the 1860s. He was never a congressman specifically, but still a pretty high level politician. Guy was known for being the son of a plantation owner while also being an incredibly loud abolitionist. Got himself into no end of duels over the matter and turned out to be one of the deadliest duelists of the day. He literally put his life on the line over what he believed to be right, rather than just sitting in a chair and talking about it.

A few years ago, I sat down outside of 9Line in Georgia. Just sort of enjoying the sun and a cup of decent coffee. Two dudes showed up, one wearing a Firefly shirt, the other a pro 2A shirt. They came over asked how I was doing then just hung out. We bs’d for a while, had a solid conversation about a plethora of things, including the Second, but also general American life. Obviously it was Brandon and a buddy of his. Both were genuine. If I knew nothing about them, aside from that single conversation, it would be enough.
