Hey Anton, new subbie here. Great content, I love that you visited Namibia and loved it. SA, Namibia, Eswatini and Botswana are great siblings...we relate to one another in so many ways including language similarities like Swati, Tswana and Afrikaans, as well as physical looks and our well kept infrastructures 🙌🏽. I am Zulu and wouldn't mind showing you around must see places and things to do in Johannesburg.

I learnt to speak Zulu within 3 months of living in Umlazi township. It was a case of survival as no one spoke my language. English was only spoken only if you had to and my English was rubbish ☺️ The Zulu people were so hospitable and very keen to help me learn their language and in no time I felt at home. That was back in the 70s. I'm pretty sure you will be fluent in no time as you are a natural linguist. Ngi ku fisela inhlanhla e ku fundeni ulwimi le sizulu.

My advice, when you get to South Africa and learning IsiZulu, go to KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as Zulu people have the tendency of willing to teaching you IsiZulu as they don't really like speaking other people's languages. I had an African American friend and his who lived in KZN, a year later they could speak some IsiZulu but were really good at hearing it. Five years later, they spoke IsiZulu as good as me. Love Things Fall Apart, the book is on my bookshelf. All the best man.

6:48 Wrong. The NGUNI are a locally formed South African cultural abstraction whose partial ancestors migrated over millennia (before the current state borders) from central areas of Africa to form in part what would become over the last few centuries the NGUNI of South Africa. The other component that made up the modern NGUNI cultural framework were historical hunter-gatherers and pastoralists.
@AntonsClass2 жыл бұрын
Essentially what I was getting at was that the ancestors of the Nguni migrated from the Great Lakes region in Central/ East Africa. I wasn't wrong. PS, I wasn't giving my anthropological dissertation, I was speaking casually on my life experiences. ✌🏽
@agrid26082 жыл бұрын
@@AntonsClass which is fine, so what's the problem with pointing out for any watcher that it was wrong, casually or not? My comment is casual too.✌🏾
@AntonsClass2 жыл бұрын
@@agrid2608 I suppose there's nothing wrong with pointing something out. It's just interesting that some folks will find the single, possible "error" in a 15 min long video to comment on. Nothing else in the video is worth commenting on, just the error. It's an interesting phenomenon, that's all.
@agrid26082 жыл бұрын
@@AntonsClass Why would I comment on the rest of the stuff? It was great and wouldn't misinform anyone. I commented on what required comment, because at least someone who heard a definition in this video & might have walked away with it as an erroneous impression of my people, might read here the actual definition of what Nguni actually refers to.

Greetings! Best of luck with your braces! I had mine in for two years back in 2017, and it was completely worth it. The best thing about it was losing weight! The bands were the worst! Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania are still on my list of countries to visit. Until I do, I will continue to live my ex-pat and nomad life through you and other KZbinrs who are blessed to travel! Hope you get to continue your travels soon.

I'm not entirely sure what it is they're burning in Rwanda. It could be garbage, or it could be something else entirely.
