So great!!! Three questions: 1. Were you riding on the Lift 4.4" board. 2. Did ride with the folding prop (as takes the drag out allowing for surf. 3. Were you on the new 250 high aspect wing from LIFT designed for longer glides - or the 250 std. wing?

Hi Justin -- Thanks for the comments and for checking out the video. Tim's setup: 5'6" with 250 wing - efficient for wave riding and sustained flight. This was only my 3rd time on an eFoil and first time in the ocean. It was stable, fun, and glided well. I'll include a pic that shows the wing on Instagram @halflifet.5 tomorrow. Jay's setup (blue board): 5'2" x 200 wing Neither one of us had the collapsing prop. It's an add on accessory. I'd say it may be worth the extra $$$ if you're going into larger waves.

Hey, thanks for the vid guys. One question : can you "surf" a wave without the motor ? I mean like the wake foil behind a boat. (Starting with the motor, shut it down and "take" a wave)

Hi Anachron - thank you so much for checking out our video. Hopefully you subscribed to our channel and follow us on Instagram @halflifet.5 I didn't have the opportunity to test that.....in large part because at $12k I didn't want to risk putting the eFoil up onto the sandbar (it was a clear - you break...you buy situation LOL). I imagine that one could do this but the rig I was on weighed about 80 pounds. So - given I have the motor on it, I certainly wouldn't start out prone. If you mean instead by using the motor to position yourself into a wave of a boat -- the Lift has a collapsible prop which in theory should reduce the drag allowing you to catch away behind the boat. I haven't tested it out so I don't know how significant the wave would need to be for zero engine power. In lieu of that you can maintain a bit of prop speed. There are a few guys on the lake here in Seattle (where we pirate waves all the time {see our instagram page}). I'll see if I can grab one and try. I've seen them on our wave all the time but their not accomplished wake foil riders so it's difficult to get a read. If I can get out there in the next week or so I'll report back. Great question. The weight of these won't provide the feel of a lightweight carbon setup but it should be able to ride with the right wing beneath.

Was that the Avon pier?

Sure is! One of my favorite places in the world. I love the food in Avon, the people, the kiting, winging, efoiling -- I love it all! Best, Tim

Did you guys see John B?

We hung with him for a while. He needed some help foiling from Kildare County to UNC. Since it's actually no where near the coast, we took the tributaries :-) Cheers, The Half-Life Crew

Can you pump those things? No offense, but they look lame.
@HALFLIFEVIDEO4 жыл бұрын
they're quite heavy and with a motor it doesn't really need to be pumped. I must have done a terrible job of riding it if you think they're lame :-) The ability to ride across the water, through the waves, in and out of the surf was SOOO fun. As you know, I love foiling. eFoils don't disappoint - it's just an additional foil sensation (different from prone, wake, wing, etc -- but fun as heck). that said - best way for you to see is to try it yourself when you get the chance.
