@ Garage Door Genius Why is a green light blinking up on the motor casing near the force controls?
@scottiev772 жыл бұрын
I spent an hour on other articles of suggestions, cleaned sensors, re aligned them, adjusted weather stripping… everything. And finally I find the useful diagnosis for when it stops without blinking. I am grateful this exists.

This solved my issue!! I actually had a service guy come out and suggest it was probably a bent panel and would need to replace the entire door for $1400. I told him I needed to do some research first. Turns out I just needed to adjust this downforce. You saved me from getting screwed over by an apparently shady company.

Could still be a bend, skew, or insufficient lubrication. None of these validate an entire door replacement, but making your system work a bit harder doesn’t necessarily mean the underlying issue was resolved. Just like anything else, it’ll last longer with proper upkeep.

Great vid but wonder if it can help with this particular anomaly after re-engaging? : Mine's a brand new garage door (I'd also been moving stuff in to store). My girlfriend didn't leave her key fob so I had to open the garage manually. I re-engaged the part that pulls back the garage door but the door is now only half closing?! i.e. I note the travelling white part (that engages the black metal mechanism part of the door) is stopping about two feet away from where it should - hence the door no longer shutting. I definitely haven't broken anything but that re-engaged white part refuses to travel back to it's further forward original position. Any extra help is welcome before I try a sensors check / travel adjustment tomorrow...! ----------- *Addendum: I'll be trying the 'force control' advice first tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

My door goes all the way down stays down for about half a sec and then will start right back up. Would that be a force control issue? Thank you
@garagedoorgenius7 жыл бұрын
Lola Larue You could have the machine closing the door a little to hard. Yes, turning the down force UP more would probably keep it closed. But you just increased the down pressure. So if in the future the door hits something coming down, it will exert more pressure. So let's hope it's not something of value. Now you could back off the DOWN limit just a little. That way you don't have to adjust the force control. I set force controls anywhere from a 3 to a 5. Some older machines you have to turn up with age. Hope this helps! Please ask if you have any more questions.

If the door feels good, then the dash pot is wore out or broken. Which means no more force adjustment...

We were able to get it to close normally by pulling down on the red string multiple times. What does this mean? We’ve had this motor for a long time and have had to had it fixed. The open setting is on 9, the close setting is on 7-8.
@garagedoorgenius4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes those machines will reach their max settings. If your door doesn't have any resistance going up and down and is fairly easy to operate, you may need to replace the board or the unit.
@garagedoorgenius4 жыл бұрын
So I was thinking. Hook up the opener back to the door. Run the door down. When it gets about waist high, grab the bottom of the door and apply some upward resistance. Are you able to stop it or does it continue down? If you're able to stop it with ease, then yes the board needs changed out. Or a new unit. If seems like you can't stop it by applying pressure , then your force controls are good. It's another issue then.

With the door closed, disconnect the opener from the door. Raise the door by hand to figure out where it's catching. If the door works perfect manually, then run the machine by itself. Thank you, kind sir. Hope twiddling with the 'Open Force' setting solved the problem. Door would alternately open anywhere from about a foot all the way to 2/3 of the way open. Would always close completely, so I didn't mess with the 'Close Force' setting.

Thank you for saving me from a giant hassle, this fixed my problem!

You're welcome! When adjusting that setting (up), it's always good to manually operate the door first. See if it goes up and down smoothly. If it's really heavy to lift open and won't stay open, the door needs adjusted then. If it's smooth running manually, then adjusting the force controls is the fix! Thanks for watching!

I just ordered a Ryobi Battery back up 2 HP garage door opener to replace my burnt out one. The original door opener is 17 years old and has seen better days so instead of messing around with parts I just ordered a new one.Thank you again for all your help. Tony W.

Good info. It wasn't the force control but the sensor alignment. It pays to watch the whole video.

turned both of mine all the way up ,fucking piece of shit still does the exact same thing your was dong in the beginning of the video it is also a liftbastard this thing is s fucking piece of shit and never worked right since day one liftmaster is garbage no matter how i adjust it does not go up or down unless i hit the wired button and hold it down and even then i have to hit about 60 times cause even when holding it only goes down for a second then it goes back up then i have to hit it again to stop it then again to make it go up then again to stop it then again to hold it and make it go down anther 1/4 inch before it goes back up again take about 9 minutes to get the fucking thing up or down it has always been this way since it was professionally installed and no matter how i adjust it it always does the same fucking thing no wonder they get $80 an hour you could not pay me 800 do deal with this fucking aggravation i d would say never but this garbage brand go for the genie

Andrea Mitchell To each his own bro. Sounds like a sensor issue if your holding the button down to close it... Could be a bad board. But make sure wall button wire isn't janky, and make sure sensors are inline!
@andreamitchell47587 жыл бұрын
ok thanks i fixed it ,the wire for the sensor was loose but not at the sensor,it was on the back of the motor screw terminals , the motor is up really high and whoever installed it did not screw the terminals down good at all , plus they were not in good alignment and then i still had to keep adjusting the up and down torque ,finally it works but i am still not clear what he other 2 pots do but they do not seem to stop they just keep turning in both directions not like the 2 on the back not sure what they do exactly
@andreamitchell47587 жыл бұрын
before it when the sensors worked it used to go all the way down then stay down for a second then go back up seem like it is not doing it now but i remember before it would only do it some times then it got to do it almost every time and no flashing ,thing never worked right for almost 20 years now i want to operate it with my phone and echo dot so i decided to finally fix it right i am guessing that the security + means it has rolling codes though right? my RM pro bridge will not learn the RF but i just bought a cheap $2 RF relay to operate the remote , a remote for a remote i assume these operate at 433Mhz right? but my universal RF/IR learning bridge will not even detect it at all and it does 433 MHZ RF so i assume it is because it is encrypted
