Original author here! This was my very first story on r/nosleep and I’m so happy to see this narration! Lighthouse absolutely KILLED it! In reality, Bambi is a chocolate Chihuahua-Dachshund mix named Dewey, and he was by my side during the whole writing process. I’m sure he’s proud to be immortalized as an eldritch monster named after a Disney movie :)

An excellent story. Just the right amount description so the imagination has to do a lot of the lifting, but it's still brought to life. I had a feeling this story was either written by someone terrified by chihuahuas, or someone who owns one. Nice to see my hunch was right! :)

I find it so amusing that this guy learns his dog is an eldritch horror beyond infinity and reality, on top of being a chihuahua, and just accepts it and makes the most of life and ends up happier and wholesome knowing he's protected by an elder god. I honestly was not expecting this to be a wholesome story, I was expecting the tiny ratdog to be evil, but instead it's just as the wife said, he just wanted to be loved, and he got it.

Seems pretty par for the course with chihuahuas. They're deformed little psychopaths that their owners think are cute even as the depths of their Fury become exposed.

As a foster dad for the local chihuahua rescue, this story had me rolling. I think i have had a couple of bambi s cousins, and in the end each one takes a little piece of my heart as they find a forever home. All but the two nobody would adopt and we made our home their home as well. Not sure if they are immortal demi dogs, but at 24 and 20 years old respectively, i wonder. Thank you for a great story

I'm a little bit excited/happy when they mentioned the Chihuahua having a deer shaped head. Not many realize that there's different types of Chihuahuas based on fur and head shape(the "rat" looking ones are the most commonly referred to). While it's nothing crazy, it's a cute little attention to detail.

so.....damn...CUTE This needs to be like a slice of life horror comedy comic. Bambi, being an eldritch monster getting used to being the family pet, and being loved on by those Bambi holds dear, as well as interactions with the outside world on a normal level, and the main character making sure the truth of what Bambi is does not get leaked out. Yes, a socially awkward horror in normal days, and protector when the serious levels get cranked up to danger levels. With arcs ranging from home invaders, to Bambi searching for and rescuing the daughter from kidnappers. And then arcs like the wife (not good with names sorry) putting Bambi in contests, where both the main character and Bambi try to both impress the wife, as well as not reveal the fact there is an abomination from the void that could not only ace every event in the contest, but do so many times over in an instant, so they try to do sort of ok. Or the "accidentally swapped minds with Bambi." Where Bambi has to figure out how to act human in a normal moral body, while keeping the main character from doing something they both would regret later. Or another eldritch creature falls for Bambi, a one sided crush that has taken the form of a cat. It does not like humans, but tolerates them. Bambi, has known this creature for a long time, and knows its more of a trickster then a killer. With the main character caught in the middle, with this cat trying to win over his affection so he would adopt the cat, with Bambi doing his best to persuade the main character to not do so, not cause the cat is a danger, but cause the cat would not leave the poor Bambi alone. There could be dealings with monster hunters from some secret religious group that would have to be dealt with. With out naming a real religious group of course. Then there would be military groups that want to use creatures like Bambi, cause that is like the thing they do with stuff "lets make a weapon out of it!"

So the cat is just a regular cat? Lol. Also that relationship between the cat and dog gives some serious Sebastian and Grell vibes.

Our neighbor hit her on the sidewalk on her leash because she was watching her phone in a school zone. @KevinRAAMAAAGE Жыл бұрын
When things like this happen be friends, Bambi still needed a home, no matter what he was, and I have a feeling had he just accepted Bambi as he was he would've had the best protection dog the world has from the get go. He should've just accepted him from him the beginning, he just wanted LOVE, he wanted TRUST. Bambi had to trust him and the dad gave him nothing to trust. Whatever Bambi is he took the appearnace of a dog and waited in shelter to be loved. The middle of the story had me in tears, happy ones. I don't care what Bambi is, he's a 100% purebred good boy. I rescue animals and this story had me. It's beautiful God that story is so good. Also, people who hate chihuahuas just because they're chihuahuas shows THEIR character flaws. When I see an angry, aloof, and depressed chihuahuas. What they're saying is, humans do not understand my consent, nor boundaries, nor do they stop when I say it nicely so I have to bite and get angry.
