You may like "The First Law Trilogy" by Joe Abercrombie. That series changes characters POV from chapter to chapter and he's amazing at giving different characters different speaking patterns, thought patterns, and outlooks which also change as the character themselves changes. Like there's this main character who's wealthy arrogant nobleman who describes people differently as the books go on and he becomes less and less arrogant while one of the other main characters is a berserker and on the few occasions he goes berserk the writing style completely changes and becomes a bit like Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas in that its more like a stream of consciousness as heard through the lens of someone who's taken a bunch of PCP.

This was truly amazing! I listened this morning on my bluetooth headphones when gardening; I think I was brought here following a narration from RomNex or Spirit Voices. Anyway it's 8 hours later and I'm hunting through my KZbin history to comment. I think that's a first from me. The narration was phenomenal... The story built gradually - I didn't know I was hooked until I realised I'd stopped working on a usually pleasurable task (maintaining my rarer succulents) to pay attention. I had no idea how long I'd been stopped except that I had tingling numb feet. Subbed and transfixed. Thank you!!

I’m going to be honest, I went into this story not expecting much. I thought it was going to be that story that we’ve all heard before, somebody uncovers something secret, there’s warnings telling them to put it back where they found it, then horrible things begin happening to all the people they love blah blah blah. It was a cool idea at first, now it’s just old. That’s what I thought this was going to be, and because of that it took me a while to get into this. But this felt different. It felt fresh, it felt new. It took a direction I wasn’t expecting, and I ended up loving it in the end. I’m new to this narrator, and I’m new to the author’s work, but I’m discovering that both are amazing.Great job lighthouse, and great job Brandon. I hope to hear more from both of you in the future

First of all, I want to say this was a beautiful narration, I love the different voices and the expression you put into all of them. Your voice has a soothing quality and it's too easy to be lulled to sleep, I had to pull back and listen to it again when I realised I was having trouble staying conscious. Great work!! Secondly, to the author, this is a phenomenal story. I love the back and forth between the main character and the woman in the letter, I love the mystery and the tension, and I'm not very knowledgable in poetry, but that poem was quite lovely, if rather harrowing which was the point, after all. Very well written, the imagery was so clear! [SPOILERS AHEAD] Thirdly, I feel this might be one of those stories that need multiple reads/listens to understand fully. There are a couple of things I'm confused about that I'm not sure were ever answered or maybe they were left unanswered intentionally; where were the remains of the woman who was buried in the backyard, what the meaning/purpose of the rock, what exactly is this thing and how does it work, how does it move from mind to mind even if it's never been in contact with that person, why are some people 'special', and why does burying it seems to stop/contain it when it has supernatural abilities like turning off electrical power, locking doors, and randomly starting fires...?? I have some theories; I think perhaps the rock had no real significance and was just another part of its mind games like the rule of not answering it, something to add to the mystery and fear. Or, my initial thought was that it was the vessel that housed the entity and is what it used to travel between victims. This has both pros and cons, the pro being that it would explain the lack of remains - the creature said it eats people, and I thought it meant their soul/spirit/mind, but maybe it also meant their physical body and once it's done with that it returns to the stone. The cons would be that there seems to be no link between the rock and the victims - Emily never came in contact with a stone (although she did with the Gravekeeper itself). Only Jarvis and the main character touched the rock, the other workers only stood nearby - so maybe you don't have to touch the rock to be infected, you only have to be near it, or perhaps once it has a human host, someone who's touched the rock, it can then move from mind to mind with no need for physical contact... However, the female deputy (and Sandra and the kids) apparently never came into contact with either the rock itself or anyone who had been near it or infected, so how it got to her is a conundrum... but the rock does seem to be able to move on its own, disappearing and appearing at will, so maybe when it disappeared from the jail (after consuming Jarvis, his body was never found either) it appeared to her and she picked it up.....? I dunno, these are all just theories, and that's the tell of a really good story when it's got you thinking about it and trying to dissect it. This is a ridiculously long comment, sorry about that. Great story and fantastic narration!!!... this is gonna keep me up for hours... Now I gotta listen to the Serial Killer Grandpa one that's apparently connected!

That was definitely an amazing story, and a unique story. I would love to hear a sequel to this. I would also love it to be just as long. Or even longer if possible. This story was amazing, & had me reeling with enthusiasm, and excitement through the whole thing. This has definitely made my top (# 10) list. This is definitely saying something. Especially considering the hundreds of stories I have had the joy, & privilege to have listened to or have ever had the chance to read. This had lots of twists and escalations; it certainly went nowhere predictable, but every plot element had been set up beforehand, so you weren't ever left lost. There was a solid effort to make the characters' voices distinctive, including a good stab at an old-timey voice for the writer of the papers. I hope this author keeps writing. Nicely read as ever, with a great meaty voice for the baddie.

This sounds like an author learned that situations where fingernails and blood were found in uncovered graves actually happens, and got inspired. It is an extremely rare circumstance, as many graves are left in place, and medical errors on that scale are uncommon. Today even less, a lot of people are cremated now-meaning that if you weren't actually dead, you'd burn alive :) Not gonna happen thankfully
